Greyfeather Pack Lore Summary
                           

This post is the TL;DR version of my daily/seasonal posts.

If you're here for the first time and want to avoid a lot of reading, the summary will give you the basics of which wolves have come and gone and some significant pack events. However, any juicy bits of lore from the wolves' or the researcher's POV are not present!

Reigned July 20, 2021 (High Summer, Year 1) - January 3, 2022 (Mid Summer, Year 8)

The Greyfeather Pack began from two young individuals, Grárfax and Fjaðrir, a gray male and a white female. They took up residence on a mountainside abundant in prey and very quickly had their first litter with only two pups. Both pups survived to adulthood and were named Fyrstur, a howlite gray male, and Hreinn, a white male.

The pack grew more successful with more members to hunt for food. A second litter was born consisting of two males and two females. All pups survived to adulthood and were identified accordingly; Visku a gray male, Virði and Miki'lorka, both light gray females and Myrkur a dark gray male. When the second litter was grown and able to join the family on hunts Hreinn, of the first litter, left and joined a neighboring pack. Fyrstur became moderately aggressive toward the second litter when his brother left and was eventually driven from the pack himself. The alpha female, Fjaðrir, took over his place on the hunting team and the pack maintained on a full roster. Hreinn was later found to have taken on the role of alpha in the pack he joined.

The alphas' third litter was born when they were nearly six years old, consisting of four pups. All four pups survived to adulthood and were identified as follows; Ákiljöf a jet black male and the largest pup of his litter, Sága a birch-colored female, and Ákveðni and Signý both light gray females. Signý was also the litter's runt. When the third litter was grown Visku and Virði from the second litter left the pack, leaving the remaining second and third litters to join together on a hunting team. With increasing confidence in the strength of their pack, Grárfax and Fjaðrir moved their pack territory into the taiga. After their arrival the alpha female ceased to actively participate in the hunting, presumably due to her age. She passed of natural causes when she was nearly eight years old and her mate Grárfax also died not long after.

Reigned January 4, 2022 (High Summer, Year 8) - May 29, 2022 (Late Summer, Year 14)

Grárfax's youngest son Ákiljöf took over and the pack functioned successfully as a sibling group until a steele grey female named Kamakshi joined. She is believed to have had some domestic blood because she had blue eyes but the pack accepted her and she quickly became alpha female. Their first litter resulted in five pups: four females and a male, identified as follows; Kaveri a howlite female, Khushi a gray female, Reva and Indy both ashen females, and Darshan a black male. All five pups survived to adulthood and formed a secondary hunting team alongside Ákiljöf's siblings, effectively doubling the pack's size. Miki'lorka and Myrkur, from the first alpha's second litter, passed of old age at the end of summer in the pack's 10th year.

The alphas' second litter was born in high spring of the pack's 11th year, resulting in four pups with the addition of an unrelated adopted pup found in the pack's territory. All the pups survived to adulthood and are identified as follows; Rohan, the largest pup, a steele grey male, Saaya a jet black female, Nikhil a dark grey male, Leela, the runt, another jet black female, and Khoya, the adopted pup, a brown female. Indu, from the alphas' first litter, died of an infection in early autumn of the pack's 12th year and an unrelated male, Zahir, joined the pack in summer at the beginning of the pack's 13th year.

In spring of the pack's 13th year the alpha female, Kamakshi, died of natural causes at just over 7 years 7 months old. That spring the pack also lost Signý, Sága and Ákveðni to old age. After the loss of the alpha female, Ákiljöf's dominant eldest daughter, Khushi, mated with the unrelated male, Zahir, and had four pups in mid summer. Darshan, from the alphas' first litter was also lost to an infection in mid summer. Later that season, at the beginning of the pack's 14th year, Alpha Ákiljöf died of old age and the strongest pup from his second litter, Rohan, was relocated as a part of a rehabilitation program.

Reigned May 30, 2022 (End of Summer, Year 14) - July 23, 2022 (End of Autumn, Year 16)

At the end of summer near the beginning of the pack's 14th year, Khushi, at the age of 5 years 4 months, took over as Greyfeather Pack's alpha alongside her recent mate, Zahir. She was already raising her first litter consisting of four pups. All four pups survived to adulthood and were identified as follows: Bedro and Aveh, gray males, Eva a black female and Ani a gray female. Once the litter was grown, Khoya, the adopted pup that was raised with the second alpha's second litter, departed from the pack. A few weeks later the tension between the alpha female and her sister, Reva, escalated and Reva was chased from the pack.

Khushi and Zahir had a second litter at the end of winter in the pack's 15th year. One of the four pups was lost during their first spring, along with another pack member, Nikhil, who died of complications to a hunting injury. The following summer saw an influx of unrelated wolves to the pack with two males and a female (Kevor, Lokan, and Kata) joining early to mid summer. Around the same time, Eva was lost to an infection. Early in the pack's 16th year, in late autumn, another unrelated wolf joined--a black female name Ruza. Around the same time Alpha Zahir died of old age at 8 years old and Alpha Khushi followed shortly after in the start of winter at 7 years 7½ months old. Kaveri, the last remaining wolf from Alpha Akiljof's first litter also died of old age in mid winter while the pack was going through a transition period between alphas.

Reigned July 28, 2022 (Late Winter, Year 16) - November 23, 2022 (Mid Winter, Year 21)

After nealy an entire season passing with no alpha stepping forward, the pack finally rallied behind the young Bedro from the previous alphas' first litter. In his first spring a young female, Kaylee, was allowed to join the pack. After a year of unsteady leadership the new summer female, Kata, from the previous year accepted Bedro as a mate and became the 4th alpha female of the pack. Their first litter was born the following spring but only four of the five survived to adulthood. Those four were identified as follows; Bela, a birch female with subtle white markings, Elek, a howlite male with beige undertones, Alajos, also a howlite male with subtle monochrome markings, and Cili, another birch female with a dark patch on her back.

The following spring the pack territory was beginning to see a decline of the prey population. The alphas had a second litter of pups, however another pair within the pack, Bedro's brother Aveh and the young Kaylee, also added a new litter of pups to the pack. In the summer after their birth the pack lost one of its eldest members, Anandi, to old age. Later in autumn it also lost Saaya and Leela, also to old age. All pups survived to adulthood and were identified as follows; of the alphas was Gabriel, the largest pup of the litter, an ashen male with a variety of white, brown, and black markings, Hanna, a quartz female with subtle sterling and silver markings, Feren, a light gray male with primarily brown and white markings, and Jacob, the runt of the litter, also an ashen male with brown and black markings and a prominent white patch on his back; of the subordinate female Kaylee was Kameron, a light gray male with subtle white undertones, and Kamila, a dark gray female with a white patch across her shoulders. Shortly after they reached adulthood, early in the following summer, the runt of the alpha's litter, Jacob, died of heatstroke.

At the beginning of the alphas' fifth year, in response to the prey shortage, the pack moved their territory south. A third litter was born to the alphas at the start of the following spring. Lokan was lost to old age shortly after and the subordinate female Kaylee had a second litter that same spring. Of Kaylee's pups, only one survived. The pups were identified as follows; of the alphas; Lili, a quartz female with a subtle black patch down her back, Sándor, a light grey male with subtle brown and silver markings, Kíra, a howlite female with brown and white markings, and Míra, an ashen female with beige unders and a notable black edge patch down her back; of Kaylee was Khloe, a nearly all-white female. The following summer two pack members were lost; Hanna to a severe infection, and Ani to heatstroke. In autumn the alpha female Kata was lost to old age and the following winter Kaylee was lost to complications from a hunting wound and alpha Bedro was lost to old age.

Reigned November 24, 2022 (Deep Winter, Year 21) - November 26, 2022 (End of Winter, Year 21)

In deep winter of the pack's 21st year, after the death of alpha Bedro, Lena took over in her elder brother's place. Two of the previous alpha's daughters, Cili and Bela, departed from the pack. The pack was severely limited by an infestation of ear mites and an influenza infection which alpha Lena was also suffering from. At the end of that same winter, a weakened alpha Lena was injured on a hunt and died.

Reigned November 26, 2022 (End of Winter, Year 21) - March 18, 2023 (Deep Autumn, Year 26)

In the wake of the untimely death of their aunt, Alpha Lena, Elek, Alajos, and Gabriel all began to compete for the role of alpha. Although younger than the other two, and sick with influenza like much of the rest of the pack, the pack favored Gabriel for the role because, unlike Elek and Alajos, he was still able to hunt with the pack. By spring, his role as alpha had solidified, and Elek, passed over for leadership, departed from the pack.

Alpha Bedro's last litter of pups grew to adulthood that same spring and one of the pups, Lili, departed to find new territory. Kevor, and elder member suffering from the flu, died of complications from the illness. The pack continued to battle both ear mites and influenza until the end of that season. An unrelated female, Jin, also joined the pack at the end of spring. Jin was a sterling grey with subtle red and white markings.

By autumn the new female proved herself a valuable asset to the pack--fighting valiantly in defense of the pack and working hard during hunts, and by winter the pack accepted her into an alpha role despite she and Gabriel not being particularly close. The following spring, however, the two alphas did produce a litter of four pups. Of the four, only three survived to adulthood, and only one, Fang, remained with the pack. She was an ashen female with red overtones resembling some of her mother's shading. That same spring, the pack lost Alajos to wound complications.

The following spring in the pack's 23rd year another litter, consisting of five pups, was born to the alphas. Of the five, all survived to adulthood, however only three remained with the pack. Those three included Kai, a snow-colored male with red overtones like Fang and his mother, Jing, a dark biotite female with subtle grey and white markings, and Ru, an even darker Jet colored male with more prominent white markings. The summer after their birth, Feren, one of alpha Gabriel's litter mates, died of heatstroke.

Records of the following winter for the pack are lacking, however observations show a difficult winter in which the entire pack suffered from lack of food and were potentially weakened by illness. Although they recovered without casualties by spring of the pack's 24th year, there were no pups that season. Summer saw an influx of ear mites into the pack which remained a problem until late spring of the following year. The infestation continued to prevent the alphas from mating and Alpha Jin passed from old age that summer. The following autumn Kira is lost to wound complications and only a few weeks later that same season Alpha Gabriel dies of old age.

Reigned March 19, 2023 (Late Autumn, Year 26) - May 8, 2023 (Start of Winter, Year 28)

With her sister recently passed and her larger brother lacking the desire for leadership, Mira of the third litter of the fourth alpha Bedro took over as alpha for the Greyfeather pack when her older brother Gabriel passed away in autumn of the pack's 26th year. Her elder aunt Kamila passed away of old age at the end of the season however the following spring saw promise as a new male, Hunter, was welcomed into the pack and quickly gained the rank of alpha alongside Mira. By late spring their first litter, consisting of five pups, was born. The summer after their birth, two pups were lost to coyotes and the following winter another pack member, Khloe, died of complications to a hunting wound. In spring the pack moved it's territory south where the three remaining pups of the first litter reached adulthood: Adaline, a light grey female with notable red markings and a black back edge patch, Callan, an ashen male very similar in looks to Adaline, and Everett, also an ashen male with no notable markings.

That same spring the alphas' second litter of pups is born but the following summer young Callan is lost to heatstroke. The pack experiences further loss in autumn when the alpha male, Hunter, dies of old age along with Mira's littermate, Sandor, and shortly after in early winter Mira also passes of old age. Although still adolescents at the time, their second litter, consisting of two pups, survives to adulthood and are identified as follows: Finn, a dark grey male with cream unders, and Ginger, a jet black female with deep red shading and a silver wing-shaped mark.

Reigned May 9, 2023 (Early Winter, Year 28) - July 8, 2023 (Early Summer, Year 31)

Upon the passing of the seventh Alpha, Mira, in early winter of the pack's 28th year, Kai of the sixth alpha's second litter and his sister Fang of the sixth alpha's first litter competed fiercely for the position of eighth alpha. The fighting was violent and more serious than a simple battle of dominance. Fang served as the primary aggressor in the fighting but in the end her younger brother Kai won out, just barely, leaving Fang with serious scars. As Kai stepped into his new role as alpha his older sister Fang distanced herself from the pack for a time. Kai immediately began searching for a mate and encountered Tariel, a beautiful cream and white female with a mottled nose, who joined the pack late that same winter. She was quickly accepted as Kai's mate and second alpha and the two had their first litter of four pups the following spring, all of whom survived to adulthood and were identified as follows: Adaline, the largest pup and female bearing a close resemblance to her mother, including a mottled nose; Bezar, a runt male with quartz fur and subtle cream markings; Elene, a white female with cream undertones; and Levon, a titanium colored male with his father's red shading and his mother's mottled nose.

In autumn of the pack's 29th year Alpha Kai was injured on a hunt and by the following winter, only a year after stepping into the role of alpha, Kai succumbed to the injury and died, leaving Tariel to lead the pack alone. Unencumbered by growing pups and haunted by Kai's sister Fang, gone rogue and with pups of her own, the lone alpha female moved the pack north into the tundra the following spring. When Fang caught up to the pack and attempted to rejoin her family, she and her pups were rejected by Tariel. Nearly too old to hunt, Fang and her pup's survived on the pack's leavings until the elder female died of old age in autumn of the pack's 30th year. That same autumn ear mites infected the pack and Tariel again moved them, this time south to easier hunting grounds, in hopes it would help get the pack through the winter. By the following spring, though the pack had survived with all members intact, the ear mites remained and Alpha Tariel, along with her deceased mate's siblings, Jing and Ru, had grown too old to help the pack hunt. In summer of the pack's 31st year, Tariel passed of old age.

Reigned July 9, 2023 (Mid Summer, Year 31) - September 17, 2023 (Start of Summer, Year 33)

After the passing of the previous alpha female, Adaline stepped into the role of alpha during an ear mite plague at just over four years old in the pack's 31st year. A few weeks later the two eldest members of the pack, Jing and Ru, from an even older alpha pair, died of old age in autumn. A potential mate for Alpha Adaline is spotted in winter that same year and again in spring. That same spring the pack is finally rid of the ear mites. In summer of the pack's 32nd year the new male is verified as the new alpha male when Adaline gives birth to a litter of five pups. The following spring the two largest pups, Anastasia and Bezar, from the previous Alphas Tariel and Kai, are lost to injuries and by summer of the pack's 33rd year the current alphas' litter graduated into pack adults. All five survived to adulthood and are identified as follows: Akinyi, a quartz female with subtle red shading like her mother; Braam, a howlite male with a subtle black back edge patch; Dakarai, a white male also with a black back edge patch, Ejiro, a quartz male with subtle cream markings; and Itai, an ashen male with cream unders.

The following autumn alpha Adaline's younger brother, Finn, is lost to an injury and one of the remaining pups from the previous alphas departs the pack to seek new territory. An influenza epidemic infects the pack and carries on through winter and into spring where it results in the death of Alpha Adaline.
