Discussion: Feeding & Care Changes

Posted 2021-11-04 15:11:25
I agree with #1250 - and the entirety of post #553544. Especially...

Part of a role playing game is to be able to have different ways to go about things, and I think it's just as important that it extends beyond breeding and exploring. IMHO there should rarely ever be a time where you're not allowed to make one of multiple choices. We all go by different criteria when feeding and playing so I think it's important that no one is forced to feed and play one way.

Well stated!

About the possibility to queue hunts:
I think it's generally something that should be available for every single time-based task.
It's already something we can do for the herbalist's medecine crafting, and it should imo be extended to hunting, but also to scouting, herbalist foraging, pup training, possible future chef role, and any I haven't thought of now.
And maybe you could limit it to only 5 or 10 items in queue, like for the herbalist, but being able to only log in three times a day instead of feeling obligated to do so fifteen or thirty times would probably make it much easier for some players to RO (like me XD I am unable of playing halfway).
WIth the renewed focus on exploring due to the monthly event's SQs, it wouldn't even necessarily mean the most invested players would log in less, and I think it would be good long term and reduce the amount of burnouts/hiatuses among players (which is, I feel, one of the purposes of this thread).

Searching for item trades there should be an option to filter trades by minimum uses of food and minimum uses of amusement items, similarly as we can filter by SC and GC in trade for currency trades.

Not a huge fan of the proposed solution.

I like being able to use specific carcasses/amusement items, and would hate if they became useless in regards to raising your wolves food/mood on their own. While processing may be helpful for some packs, it would be a tedious unnecessary step for me. Not to mention I make a decent chunk of sc selling current meat chunks and other smaller carcasses to the raccoon, I'd hate to get confused and accidentally sell a "processed" meat chunk which would most likely have a poorer use to sc ratio like larger carcasses have.  I think giving players the choice between these options is very important, and I like a lot of the alternatives users have suggested in this thread over the og post itself.

I totally support this! I tend to breed my wolves whenever possible, so i usually have lots of wolves to take care of, and there are times when i can't feed all of them before rollover for multiple different reasons (the most often reasons are i fell asleep while feeding or playing with them, or i forgot to finish). This would make it easier to get all my wolves fed and played with each day. I also like the idea of having a free FAPA feature, as I've always wanted it, but since it had to be paid for, could never get it.

Love the idea but agree that maybe you should also be able to feed as we currently do, just that feed all/play all would have to use the processed toy and food items?  So add a feature, don't overhaul the whole system?
Part of why I love this is bc I'm always accidentally using craftable amusement items like acorns and bones to play with my wolves on accident because they're first alphabetically, and so I either have to go bury them for later crafting or just be out of luck. Would love to just process a big ol stack of ibis feathers or smth into toys and use that instead.
But other people have made good points and I think keeping the current system and adding on to it would be great.

I want to add my support to Remmie's food storage/toy bin idea (as explained in this topic). This has all the benefits of the processing system mentioned in the first post, plus some additional benefits:

- You can add/remove carcasses from the food storage bin at will, so it's not irreversible (in case you put in a carcass and later discover that you need it for a snake quest or something).
- You're feeding your wolves real carcasses and not processed meat.
- This system can exist alongside the current system of feeding carcasses to wolves from their individual wolf pages, for those who prefer individual feeding (and it wouldn't require an additional "processing" step).

I think the food storage/toy bin idea mentioned above sounds excellent, and I prefer those names over "processed meat".

I personally hate the way feeding and playing work here, and on Lioden. There is no reason I should have to sift through however many pack wolves I have, feeding and playing with each one multiple times every single day. This is time consuming and honestly pointless. I also don't like that you have to PAY to have an easier option that could just as easily be (and should be) a base function.

In short, we should all have access to feed all/play all from the get go. If anything, make the paid version PERMANENT !

This is one of my few gripes with the game and I doubt it'll be changed but I figured I'd try. xD
