Feed All/Play All (& how it affects mentally/chronically ill and neurodivergent players)

Posted 2022-07-21 20:19:22
Not sure why with so much support for its not already a thing.

I will add my voice to this. I played lioden for a while, then joined here when it first started but left soon after as it became really grindy to feed and play with each wolf on its own every day. I have a hard time keeping focused and with me being busy, I just don't have the time to sit down and really make my pack very big for the sheer fact that well, I won't be able to keep everyone fed and playing with.

I feel like it's honestly a poor attempt at a money grab at this point and it should be done away with, or at least make it a one-time paid thing...

I understand FAPA being a GC cost, but the fact that both it and auto-nesting are a GC cost that only lasts a certain amount of time and then need to be refilled is... not great IMO, I feel like it would be a lot better of a feature if implemented in a manner similar to pup stages (one-time pay and then it's there forever).

The devs have asked for feedback on the feeding and care system before, so they're definitely aware of at least some of the issues. Development Update #14 details what they added in response: stack feeding. I'm not opposed to attempting to put this back on their radar. The fixes, while helpful, are not sufficient. Wolvden is one of the few browser games I can play semi consistently because of FAPA.

If FAPA was made free to all and I didn't get anything back from my purchases, I probably wouldn't even be upset. Not that they should go that route (it'd probably be best to do GC refunds or auto-feeding like they mentioned in the thread), but it's how I'd feel as someone who has bought almost a year's worth of FAPA in the past, and currently has over 100 days of it prepaid.

Like others have said, they probably won't be missing out on much, either. New players would be more likely to stick around when they get more wolves, which means they might spend more (or be part of what keeps the spenders around, since games like these tend to thrive on interaction). I don't think I've ever bought GC solely for FAPA—it has always been with customization in mind and the extra goes to FAPA afterward.

I might be missing something here but... why not just use a mouse macro or something? I mean, I guess it's technically botting (if you really stretch that definition), but it's not giving you an unfair advantage and I doubt the site would be able to tell if you're using it. You could set one up pretty easily to feed and play from the hoard. It wouldn't be instantaneous but you could like, scroll through your phone or go to the bathroom or something while it's doing its thing. Just a thought!

While at the time of this suggestion post I could totally understand it, I think now Its somewhat obsolete?

Fapa Is pretty much useless and a majority agree that It is since the introduction of feed from Stack.
Right now you have to Individually feed each cave at the bottom of your den, So feed den... scroll down past 50+ wolves, Click again get kicked back to the top.... you see It actually is not fun or any better than feed from stack.

If you have a 10 cave pack with 50+ wolves I can guarantee Its significantly faster feeding from stack (Has mild server lag) or using Amusement scraps and bison carcasses and doing feed from item! (no server lag)

With us no longer wanting to save 1 feather use, Amusement (Probably most tedious one?) is much better now.

I have EDS a connective tissue condition and I would prefer feeding from item for amusement any-day, and Feed from stack for smaller carcasses (I can luckily feed my pack bison now, Long time glacier player forever)

TLDR: Fapa actually isnt any better than the current feeding methods.

Feed from stack and the remnant system is a huge improvement on the old system, but it's still more tedious than FAPA. Also feeding each cave individually is an option, not the default - you can absolutely one click feed the entire pack.

I know people who have quit the game due to lack of FAPA.

I do not agree at all. Though I do not have ADHD, autism, etc., my S/O does. They do say they did have a bit of trouble figuring the game out, but the help page helped. The game needs to make money some how, and though it is boring to feed and play with your wolves, it gives you something to do when you're waiting for your energy to recharge. It also gives you the chance to bump their stats/start to bond/care about your wolves.

The point of those GC items, is you have you basically work to get it. In order for you to get them to let you lay back for a bit, you have to give something to them. The reason the pup stages are one time buy, is because its not actually making the game any easier. Imagine you buy the autofeed once, and then it lasts forever. That means you never have to worry about making sure they're fed, and the game would lose something to it. It also would make quests harder.

Imagine you need to turn in three beavers- well, you would have been able to, but the autofeed just used them up. If you normally unlock the quests first, and then feed them, then you could have done the quest. I also think it is completely unreasonable to call it ablest.

I don't support this at this time, there are a lot of other aspects of the game I would like to see improved/adjusted before they mess any further with feeding or playing honestly. with the feed from hoard option- it's super easy to take care of the wolves in my opinion.

I am actually surprised that you can only buy it for a month. There should be better "plans" on FAPA and AutoNest - say, users should chose if they want to get it monthly, bi-monthly, etc, anually, or even weekly.
It is so much of a flexible tool (say: maybe i'm overcrowded of wolves for 2 weeks because im raising tons of adols, and then i chase them all and go back to having 10 wolves, and FAPA is mostly unuseful) that i see no use on limiting it to one month- other than making it easier for devs to do their finances, which is a fair point, but i think everyone would benefit from different-lasting plans, priced fairly ofc!
Feeding and playing from hoard is a huge improvement, but it also does take a minimum of two clicks per wolf, and users who want an easier tool while also supporting the game should have the right to do so
