Feed All/Play All (& how it affects mentally/chronically ill and neurodivergent players)

Posted 2020-12-14 15:05:52

I support this. I really think they ought to make it a one-time payment. Hell, I would be willing to pay more than $10 if it was a one-time payment. I personally would probably be willing to pay a full $30. That being said, I don't think we should have to pay for something that makes a game more accessible for mentally ill and neurodivergent people, and potentially less annoying for neurotypical people. Making people pay to not have to do a bunch of tedious and annoying clicking is going to turn people off from the game, mentally ill, neurodivergent, and neurotypical people alike. The devs certainly deserve to be paid, but I feel like there are much better ways to make money. Special cosmetics seem to be popular for any game.

Returning to add this; I recently had to avoid Wolvden all together due to the lack of QOL features for disabled players. I'm somewhat back, but I will be playing far less than I used to, and it sucks because Wolvden is a great game + it helps when I can't do anything else. Its upsetting and I wish they'd take their disabled players into consideration.

Huge, huge, huge support. I eventually ended up investing in the feed all/play all function and the difference is night and day. I'm depressed as all hell my friends, even the most basic of tasks proves harrowing. Having the pressure taken off of looking after my wolves is huge, I've been enjoying the game so so so much more now that I'm not, at the end of every day, exhaustedly trying to flick through each of my wolves. I used to just pass out halfway through them, honestly.

What I would suggest, is maybe the Feed All/Play All function as it is now, can be made free, and maybe an improved version can be put on the grove instead..? Like, one that lets you customise the priority for your wolves or limit the pool of items it can choose from, something like that. Even if the feed all/play all function was made free I'd probably be happy dropping a bit of money on a version that could prioritise my nursing gals and avoid using those 1-use food items I prefer to sell. Just spitballin'

Yes please. I’m depressed as all hell and games like this help me get through super bad days. I love the concept of this game, but so much about it is daunting/frustrating and discourages me from playing, and I often abandon it for weeks before getting the itch to play again. Getting rid of even ONE of those daunting aspects, needing to feed/play with each wolf individually, would make this game so much more enjoyable and encourage me to keep playing. I don’t even have all that many wolves yet and I dread feeding/playing with them, I can’t imagine what it’s like if you have 20+ wolves. Especially since I usually play this game on my phone while laying in bed. I don’t mind if it’s a one-time purchase for a permanent feature. It’s honestly baffling that the item in the grove isn’t permanent, and I’m glad I haven’t sunk GC into it.

I agree that the current feeding and FAPA system is flawed and not friendly to disabled players or players with limitations. I work 8 hours a day behind a computer and have recurring RSI-type complaints, which restrict how much clicking I can do in my free time. I still like playing games and Wolvden is currently part of my downtime, but I have to work around what my wrists and hands can take. Feeding and playing with wolves has been an issue for me in the past, even when I had a small pack (with only wolves needed in key roles), so I can only imagine how problematic it can be for others that have it a lot worse than me.

I recently got a TIII, my pack got larger as I added breeding females, pups, and Raise and Chase wolves. I can now no longer play without FAPA, whether I like it or not. But it is not something I would ever want to spend my own money on. I only get it because my stud brings in GC that I am able to divert towards this purpose. I agree with those that have voiced that they find it icky to have to pay real money for QoL features. I have happily bought GC for the pup stages, and for customizing wolves and breeding projects, but I will never buy GC for FAPA. I will only use GC I get by other means, and if that runs out, I'll have to change my playstyle and will probably end up disillusioned, demotivated, and maybe even quitting.

I would really like to see changes made to the feeding system (which might mean the FAPA mechanic has to be revised to make sense/have added value) or FAPA should become readily available as an alternate way to feed and play, either by making it free or purchasable for a reasonable one-time fee.

It is disheartening to see this has not been addressed since this suggestion thread was made in November, despite significant player support. It would have been reassuring to see the feeding system listed in the 2021 projected updates. I would much rather see this mechanic addressed than more explore encounters, karma, etc.

Personally I'm against any Grove items that affect gameplay but I hadn't considered how this specifically could affect people with disabilities. The only things available for GC, especially as consumable items, should be cosmetic.

Absolutely support it. It does suck if they want to figure out a deal for people who previously paid for FAPA but that shouldn't be an argument against accessibility.

I had to take a break for a couple months due to life and the game itself getting much too stressful for me to handle both combined. It's disappointing to see this has seemingly been ignored... I suppose it's nice that other things are improving, but that doesn't change how hard feeding and playing with a decent-sized pack is, unfortunately, in terms of accessibility.

Support there are many ways to still gain money from a sim but accessibility and using one's ailment as a means to gain money should never be it. Why not have a feed and entertain all button? There is plenty of content they could add like maybe an item that gives you more stamina so one uses half the energy per encounter? It's simple just listen to the players people will always buy marking applicators and marking add ons so money shouldn't go stail.

The thing is a game is suppose to be fun not a chore it's important for the staff to know this. The more fun and enjoyment a player has the more the game will thrive. I don't even access my LD account because it's grown to be too stressful and stress for me is really not good. Either way which would they rather have a sim that runs its course dying in the water because players left or would they rather listen and keep those players that would have gladly contributed to the game because the game showed it cared? If I created a game personally I would show my players care and consideration because that will get you the furthest. I have been playing sim games since 2007 I have seen the best and the worst.

I think I'm speaking for most when I say please make it just a game feature it makes a difference I loved Lioden but I can't play it. I put money in but I'm not going to do a recurring fee just for a button that could be for everyone. Don't continue the wheel WD is not LD :/
