Feed All/Play All (& how it affects mentally/chronically ill and neurodivergent players)

Posted 2022-08-27 08:50:51
Neutral/Slightly oppose
Its already very affordable in my opinion, you dont have to spend irl money but if you do buy the cheapest gc its 9.99 usd for 40, that'll last you 4 months. Meaning thats about 2.5 usd a month. So you have 4 monts to save up that 9.99 again
There are also many ways to earn 10 gc a month without spending money, selling sc, wolves, items, commissions, etc.
At the same time I do agree it can be a bit annoying or overwhelming to feed/play with all your wolves, escpecially if you have many. If you have too many you could always sell some or be more picky on the ones you keep.
You also dont have to feed all your wolves every day, the only really importand ones are the pupsitters.

I dont think its fair to say its abelist, I think that downplays abelism as a whole. Abelism is a form of discrimination and this is not it.
I am also dealing with neurodivergency, mental health issues and living in a low economic household so I understand of much it can suck. I hope I dont come off as a dick as that really is not my intention, you obviously knows whats best for you and if you disagree with all my points then I hope they do make it free or at least cheaper to help support you and other people who need it <3

Damn this is still an active discussion two years later? I took a two year break specifically because of the lack of accessibility friendly functions. I'm a firm believer that QOI settings, especially ones that double as an accessibility function, should not be paywalled.

Absolutely supporting! I have no personal problems with the current method of feeding and playing, and even if FAPA was added freely I likely wouldn't even use it(I prefer choosing exactly what to feed/amuse my wolves, which you can't do with FAPA to my knowledge) but I really can't see a downside to this, only positives, really. Allowing the site to be more accessible to others means more people will play, which means more people who will buy GC for other reasons, making the revenue argument null and void from how I see it.
And in the possible scenario that FAPA is really a huge chunk of this sites profits, while not really as good an option, making it just a one time payment is much better than the current way we have it and a fair compromise, allowing more people to comfortably play and also getting the site money.

Big support. I, despite loving this game, cannot recommend it to anyone because the daily process of feeding and amusing your wolves is much too tedious and boring. FAPA should not be locked behind a paywall.

Not only does the daily clicking affect me as a neurodivergent and disabled person, but whenever I'm somewhere with a subpar internet connection, I simply do not rollover on principle as keeping my wolves happy would take an immense amount of time. Its simply just not fun at all.

Coming back over a year later and honestly I feel I was being a little bit too nice the last time. I was willing to settle for a compromise then but now that I've had more time with the game, I feel it's better I'm just bluntly honest about my experience.

Like others have said before, FAPA is a QoL feature for the game and I believe that QoL features should not be behind a paywall, let alone a monthly payment. A lot of people have brought up how the purpose of feeding and amusing your wolves is making the game more challenging and that FAPA is a luxury add-on but that doesn't make sense. Having to acquire the food/amusements items in itself is already challenging and honestly this is a pet-site, the gameplay around pet-sites usually doesn't revolve around making it more challenging. The challenge in games is meant to add to the enjoyment of the playing experience and the grind of feeding your wolves individually just makes the game less enjoyable, it doesn't add anything of value to the game. It's a chore.

I was willing to put up with the less enjoyable aspects of the game when I initially joined because the game was still new and exciting but after that initial excitement faded, it just made me less likely to log in. In the last year I've only really rolled over for events and as time went on, not even for those, because I've dreaded having to feed and play with all of my wolves or facing the penalties of forgetting to do it. My roommate and I often talk about the pet-sites we play and we both think Wolvden is the most high maintenance out of all of them - to the point that we don't recommend it to anyone. The existing changes to feeding have made it slightly less tedious but it's not enough to make up for not having FAPA as a standard un-paid feature of the site.

I understand needing a revenue stream but from a customer standpoint: I don't want to spend my money on something that is a standard feature on other sites and because not having it makes my gameplay experience less enjoyable, I don't have any interest in investing my time and money into the site or recommending it to other potential customers.

I feel a little bad being harsh but I wanted to give honest feedback on the game.

I think Mel has made a lot of very good points.  I wanted to add something from my own experience re: the revenue stream.  To be honest, as soon as I found that some of the (what are in similar games) most basic features are only accessible through GC, I decided never to purchase GC or anything else from the site.  This was day one of my playing Wolvden.  I've never even been tempted to buy anything here with my real-world money, because my first instinct was to resist what comes off as an attempt to strongarm the player into paying for fairly basic stuff in order to avoid an annoying or even unpleasant experience.

I actually am saving up GC for 6 months of FAPA; but I'm lucky to have found a fairly consistent if not overwhelming income stream of GC in-game that works with my playstyle.  Not everyone has the time or logistic setup to make this happen though.

i personally don't have as much skin in this as others, but something really has to change.

feeding/ amusing wolves is just plain annoying on here. what bothers me do much is i *know* it doesnt have to be. the fact it takes as long to feed & amuse my wolves on here, as it takes me to do 200+ lions on lioden, shows how much worse it is here. and i dont even use fapa/hoard feed there.

page feeding is set up atrociously on here.
first i have to scroll down on my wolf, then it doesnt want to register my clicks properly if i do it too quick (wolvden only issue), and if it does, clicking the amuse only takes my low use amusement instead of amusing to full on the default setting, meaning i have to click even more to finish a single wolf.

this all makes hoard the better option, yet that one takes so long cos it makes you feed/amuse each wolf seperately instead of doing both at once.

Lack of FAPA is the primary reason I get burnt out on this game and take long hiatuses. I've spent gc on FAPA a few times and it's truly night and day - but even then, I'm bummed I wasted gc on making the game useable instead of saving that gc for something that makes the game fun, like elk hearts or applicators.
