The sound of knocking on Grim's office door echoed throughout the lifeless room. He wasn't completely alone, left to his own thoughts and devices. A tall mercenary who decided his life to what he did was lingering near the walls. He worked for Grim in a way, or more so was pushed to the estate like many others. Grim didn't give him orders, same with the rest of the staff.
"I'll answer that." The other man in the room spoke up, more interested in seeing who it was than Grim was. The red eyed man had barely taken notice of the sound. The mercenary opened the door with unshakable confidence, his eyes peering at Hitashi with a calculating look in his eyes. "Who's this delightful creature?" There was a faint hiss in his voice as he asked.

Hitashi hadn't been sure what to expect, but he sure as hell hadn't been expecting that. The man in front of him was quick to answer, clearly wanting to leave as soon as possible. "The woodworker from Aldonia is here." He cracked a small smile, but the mercenary didn't seem to be amused. "Well then, let him in." The mercenary took a step back, and the man in front of Hitashi gestured for him to go. He hesitantly walked into the room, and the mercenary didn't hesitate to slam the door behind him. The other man hadn't followed him in, and he could see why. The place was void of life, much more than anywhere else that he'd seen. The children from his village probably would've started rumors about this place being haunted if they ever caught a glimpse of it.
He was at a loss for what to do next, so he looked back at the mercenary. The man didn't say anything, he only nodded towards the other side of the room and then walked back to his post. Hitashi looked to where the man had nodded, but he couldn't see very well who it was. "Good evening, Lord Messores. I'm a woodworker from Aldonia who's been hired to handle the construction of a new pavilion here at your estate." He dipped his head respectfully, trying his best to sound neutral. Though, he always had a friendlier tone in his voice, regardless of how much he tried to get rid of it.

This was news to the estate owner, who hadn't made any such plans himself. Because this person was a stranger as far as he knew, he took on a stale demeanour. If he was unintentional mean, then so be it. Sometimes when he did try to show his kindness, people still saw him as carrying a deathly curse.
"You've been misinformed, I'm not your employer." Grim said as he turned his head to look at the other. His body tensed, he knew that face. They'd met rather recently in fact and Grim had lied about his identity. It was for safety reasons, but he didn't take pleasure in the deceit.
"Zhangzi, excuse us." He quickly said before anything else could happen. He didn't need the prying ears and eyes of that mercenary around to use any kind of information against him. Zhangzi left, disappointed that he was being forced to miss out on whatever was happening.

Hitashi was rather nervous, and being told he'd made a mistake was only making it worse. He knew he needed to clarify what happened before any other misunderstandings occurred. "I apologize, sir. I should've explained earlier. Your staff arranged this as a surprise for you. I was informed on the way here that you wouldn't know I was coming." He knew that sounded entirely suspicious, but Hitashi wasn't quite sure how else to explain it. He still couldn't see very well, though he wasn't surprised. There were hardly any windows in the room. To be quite honest, the place looked more like a prison than a bedroom.
Hitashi stayed where he was, keeping his hands folded behind his back. He kept his gaze down, as he had been trained to do with customers. Although he was trying to appear calm and collected, he couldn't help but fidget with his hands behind his back. While he was a rather social person, he still didn't like confrontation; It made him nervous, and this was just about one thousand times worse than that. He didn't really care what happened either way. If he was turned away, then he could go home to his family. If the man hired him, then he'd get paid. To Hitashi, he'd win regardless of the outcome.

"I see." Grim murmured, half to himself rather than the other. Had his bodyguard on that day, had Aeshma told the rest of tne staff about him meeting Hitashi and went out of their way to find him? He didn't recall Hitashi's occupation being disclosed at the time, still it was very much a coincidence. Had this been a stranger, he would've shown more frustration and carelessness in keeping whatever reputation he had left. But it wasn't, he was surprised to meet him again especially in his own home. It wasn't a very welcoming place. This room was more like a wolf's den then anything.

"Have you been paid yet?" He composed himself before asking, straighten his posture to stand at his full height and easily striding over to Hitashi.

Hitashi kept his head down, shrinking back a bit when he heard the other's footsteps growing nearer. "I was made to sign a contract on the way here, but seeing as you didn't know I was coming, I'm assuming it's invalid." Hitashi muttered, pulling out the small piece of paper from his pocket and holding it out to him.
He could tell the other was quite a bit taller than him just by the way his footsteps sounded, and it was low-key freaking him out. Hitashi hated the situation he was in. He didn't know where he was, who he was with, or even really why he was there. Had he known the head of the household didn't know he was coming, then he never would have agreed to this job in the first place. Part of him was hoping this man would simply send him home, but the other part couldn't stop focusing on the man's voice. He sounded oddly familiar, but it was in a way that Hitashi couldn't quite put his finger on. Hitashi was tempted to look up, but he knew better than to do such a thing, let alone in front of a noble.

Sorry, dude- It's been storming all day over here, and I've lost power twice. ;-; ))

Don't worry, I hope you're alright !! ))

He didn't like seeing Hitashi so timid, it caused more guilt to grew in his heart. This was a possibility he'd been worried about, his supposed 'nobility' getting in the way. Despite his status he was avoided by others who held the same title, outcasted.
"It's fine, Hitashi." He said, addressing the other by his name. Grim wasn't wearing his gloves so he refused getting any closer by reaching out to take the paper, or pushing it away. He still would have hesitated if he was more dressed than the black shirt and pants he was wearing.

Yeah, we're all good, it's just annoying when the computer shuts down lol! ))

Hitashi had been surprised to hear his name used, as he hadn't told the other his name. The staff had simply reffered to him as 'The woodworker from Aldonia'. "Maybe he read the paper? No. He won't even take it." He thought to himself, pulling the paper back since the other hadn't wanted to take it.
After several moments of internal debate, Hitashi finally brought himself to look up at the other. Even though it was dark in the room, there was no mistaking that face. Arius.
"A-Arius?!" He stuttered, sounding both shocked and confused. He'd never expected to see that man again, let alone in a place like this. "You- But I thought-?" He was trying to sort through things in his head. Arius had seemed like a fellow commoner, but he was apparently the lord of a noble house. Yeah no. That's not gonna make sense no matter how he tries to connect it.

Any irl news? Sorry if it seems weird, but I enjoy talking OOC sometimes- TvT ))

There was meant to be power outages where I lived last month, didn't happen but kept making sure everything I needed was charged lol ))

Grim was glad that he'd finally met his gaze, but began to share the feeling of nervousness and fluster. "I may have been dishonest with you upon our first meeting." He admitted, bright red eyes looking anywhere but at Hitashi. In order to explain what was going on, he had to come clean. It was like removing armour while on a battlefield, thinking the fight was over. Potentially a foolish decision. But leaving the woodworker in confusion could cause frustration, he knew that.

It's not weird, it's actually nice. I usually avoid talking about myself, feels embarrassing. I kind of just got back from another trip, saw my family. How about you ? ))
