The answer he was given didn't settle his worry, glancing around at the cold floor. 'Did he trip over something? The rug isn't bunched up, nor did he step on it yet.' He thought. The fall was too nasty to be just a loss of balance. Grim was no healer, that was far from his department of expertise. One of the apprentices he'd trained with had been raised with the expectation that they'd handle living beings, documenting births. The opposite of Grim's job.
He took the bowl once it was out of Hitashi's hands, placing it up on the nearest surface and out of the way. That being one of the shelves on the wall. Maybe he had a habit of putting things on the shelves and then forgetting about them. Out of sight out of mind in a way. Although he was chattering nervously, he wasn't going to hold a conversation with him while he was withered up on the ground. "Here, I'll help you up." Grim offered blue eyed woodworker a gloved hand, to pull him back onto his feet. Had he been a bolder man, he would've seeped Hitashi up in his arms bridal style.
I'm trying to resist the autistic urge to read the entire Avatar wiki page, I've already read two. Also Spider still has a tracker in his mask lol
I wasn't sure how long bruises take to heal, I know they kind of just start to fade away. Sounds good though !
Hesitantly, Hitashi reached out and took the other's hand. If he made any more of a scene, he knew things would only get worse for him. Within just a few moments, he was back on his feet, but his actions did not come with no consequences. He gritted his teeth as the pain returned, but it quickly subsided. He was praying that he might be able to just play it off as if he really had lost his balance.
After a few moments of waiting to assure himself that he wouldn't fall, he let go of the other's gloved hand. "Thanks." He sighed, crossing his arms anxiously. He wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. Whether or not Grim believed him didn't matter-- His only goal was to keep him from asking too many questions. As he continued to avoid the other's gaze, he could sense that he was still looking around, searching for the cause of his falling. "It's nothing, really. I'm just a pretty unbalanced person is all." He lied smoothly through his teeth, forgetting to keep his nervous ticks in check. With his arms crossed, that gave his worried mind a chance to have him dig his nails into the other arm. Although it didn't help him calm down and collect himself, it did stop him from becoming any more frazzled.

Wait, HE DOES?! I thought they got him a new mask? HuH?!
He noted that Hitashi had struggled even earlier in the day regarding his back. With all the hands on labour he did, he wasn't all that surprised that his back would start hurting. "Your back, has it been hurting since this morning?" Grim gave the shorter man a curious look, thinking he was connecting the dots when he wasn't exactly. The sooner he found out the cause or problem, the sooner he could try to find a way to fix it. He didn't like leaving things to brew and bubbling over, he'd seen how badly that couldn't turn out before and wasn't planning on seeing it again.
There's so much world building and information that couldn't be squeezed into the movies
Nah I'm like 40% sure that it's still in his mask. It'd make sense as a way to set up the next movie. There was the whole "a son for a son" thing too so someone might try to kill him. If he's not on the Avatar 3 movie poster then he might die lol
Hearing that seemed to surprise Hitashi, and he glanced up, ruby red eyes meeting icy blue ones momentarily. "No, Grim- You can just drop it- It's nothing to worry about." He sighed, a hint of stress in his voice. Grim had been right about the back part, but not the cause, and Hitashi desperately wanted to keep it that way. Grim had no idea that he'd been the one to trigger all of this, and he knew that it would only mess things up for them if he brought it up. "I'll be fine in a few weeks." He tried to end the conversation right then and there, not realising that he had said 'a few weeks', rather than 'a few days', like he had planned to.
Those of Hitashi's family had never been known to be particularly dishonest people. It was because of this fact that he felt as uncomfortable as he did for lying. 'The truth will always be safer than attempting to forge an alternative one', his mother had always told him. He'd never entirely understood what it meant, but she'd said it to him so many times by now that it was practically engrained into his brain, similar to muscle memory. Once it is learned well enough, it cannot be forgotten.

They'd known each other long enough to know when the other was in distress. Did they know each other at all though? It wasn't a thought that came to Grim's mind currently but it would eventually. He tensed his hand on the other. "Sore backs aren't meant to take heals to recover from, this is a little urgent. You need to see a doctor, if it's not taken care of you could lose movement." He urged for Hitashi's health to be taken more seriously. His bones stuck out in places despite being considered slender, the ridges of his spine visible when exposed. Sometimes it was as if the skin on his body wasn't meant for him, too tight in places instead of sagging.
The more questions that were asked, the more worried Hitashi became. He didn't have false answers for all these comments that Grim was making, and he needed a way to just end it here and now. However, as he grew more and more worried about being caught, he became more reckless in his speaking. "There's nothing the doctors could do about it anyways! It isn't even that kind of pain, so please just let it go." He pleaded once again, shrugging off the concerns for his health. "I've gotta get back to the kitchen to see how the others are doing." He spoke quietly, attempting to just excuse himself from the room, along with the questions.
Grim withdrew his hand, having no reason to keep it on Hitashi. He wasn't convinced and would voice that. "But you're hurt, your family might become concerned if they notice you like this." He pointed out. Had Hitashi's family been random people he wouldn't care if they believed rumours or not, but he wasn't going to go about frightening Hitashi's family. They deserved to know that their son or brother was safe and looked after. "I've already caught you showing signs of pain,. If not me then will you speak to a medical professional?" He continued to plead calmly with him.
Hitashi hadn't been aware that Grim had caught him in pain before-- He'd had no idea that he paid that much attention. As the other continued to speak calmly, waves of guilt began to wash over him. He was lying straight to Grim's face. He was lying to his friend. Even if it was an ugly truth, didn't Grim still deserve to know? He couldn't keep making up reasons, but how would the other react of he knew it was him.? Before he resorted to that, though, he gave it one last try of just brushing him off. "Grim, there's nothing they could do. I'm going back to the kitchen. I'll see you tomorrow." He sighed, glancing around to see where Grim had set the bowl from before.
"Surely they can, it's more concerning that you say they can't." Grim knew he was pushing this more than he'd like to but the solution was so close. A wound wouldn't heal right if left untreated, it could leave a nasty scar at best. "You had back problems earlier today or at least that's what I'm guessing." He moved to block the view of where the bowl was, or rather get in the way.
Hitashi had caught a glimpse of the bowl behind Grim, but he didn't continue forward. He knew that Grim valued his personal space, and he wouldn't disregard that. "Stop pushing this. Going to a doctor would be a waste of time, money, and patience. I know for a fact that there's nothing they can do, so just get out of the fucking way!" He snapped slightly during that last bit, although it had been an accident. He was growing more and more reckless with his words as they continued to go back and forth. It seemed as if they were talking in circles by this point, and it would have been better in his opinion if they would both just stop talking. He was stressing himself out by trying to dance around the subject, even if he thought that the other had a right to know. He worried that the only thing that would result from this interaction was uncomfortable tension and further miscommunication between the two of them.
My person, sleeeeep- As for when you get back, I was thinking that Grim could protest once more, and then Hitashi would slip up and tell him? :^
