"I'm aware." He shifted his weight uncomfortably where he stood, holding off on instinctively crossing his arms. Now wasn't the time to outwardly close himself off, he didn't want to make the atmosphere heavy. The warmth in Hitashi's expression both took him aback and drew him closer, not physically but in a different way. It was something that brought back an old calming sensation in his chest. He suddenly clapped his hands together, speaking with certainty. "Let's not dilly dally, we'll leave at the earliest convenience. You can put your work on hold whenever and go see your family." |

An awkward smile was now present on his face, unsure of what he was talking about. It didn't seem like he was in trouble for doing anything hideous, so that was a good start. "What thing?" He asked bluntly. It wasn't out of curiosity to know, it was out of reflect to try and distract both of them from the change in mood.  |

Hitashi rolled his eyes slightly. How could someone be so smart and yet so oblivious at the same time? No one will ever know the answer. "The thing where you take what I'm saying and make it negative, and then you put up walls to protect yourself from the criticism that was never even there." He didn't bother phrasing it gently, seeing as there was literally no other way to put this. "How about I rephrase? Grim, I like seeing you smile." He took a step closer and slowly took the blanket from the other so that he could go put it back where it belonged. "That's all I meant when I said it. I know your job is dull, but I wasn't talking about that. I just meant you. You seem to believe that you deserve all the worst things in life, but you don't. You don't care about yourself or your well-being very often, but you make sure that everyone else is okay." He paused, not sure how Grim would handle this. "You're a caretaker, whether you choose to admit it or not. You care for everyone except for yourself, so until you're ready to start caring about yourself again, I'll be the one to do that for you, m'kay?" An outside perspective would have more accuracy than someone on the inside. Grim wasn't able to look at the bigger picture. Although uncomfortable he still listened, unsure of what else to do. It'd be rude to dismiss what he was saying with a wave of his hand or leaving. He didn't doubt that what Hitashi was telling him as true but it was difficult to believe it. He at least trusted him enough. If Grim had ears, they'd be down flat in a sulky manner. "Yeah that's.. Alright. I'm stumped for words, not sure what else to say." He tapped his fingers against the cover of the book in his back pocket, trying to drum up some proper words instead of the lacklustre reply he gave.  Why he getting closer ? To give him a kiss ? 😦🤨🤨🤨🤨 /j My boyfriend came back early from work as I was writing my reply. I'm seeing him again for two days tomorrow |

Hitashi understood that Grim was uncomfortable with the situation, but there was nothing that he could do to take it back now. "It's alright. Don't worry about it- Just know I'm here if you need anything." He smiled softly, folding up the blanket in his arms. He'd honestly forgotten that he'd taken a step closer, and didn't seem to notice it, even now. "How about this- I'll bet you still have some work to do before we go-- I know I do, so how about we both see what we can get done today, and then we can start thinking about when to leave?" He smiled, clearly excited by the prospect of going home. Ooh-Yay! ^w^ |

He made an effort not to shrink into himself, standing straight in a way. The way his spin tended to subconsciously curl was a habit and even though he was considered a tall and frightful man his slouching would have those opinions questioned when standing next to the ever-standing-tall and beaming king. The energy radiating off that man could make one sick. "Yes, that's a clever idea." Grim had speed-ran a chunk of his work in order to finally catch a break, like a sudden burst of energy to find some free time. But it wouldn't hurt to do some more, not to jinx it. |

"I'll see you later, then." He replied, turning to head back towards the staff quarters to drop off Addie's blanket. Before he even began to move, though, he turned back. "Thank you. This is the kindest thing anyone has ever done for me. I appreciate you more than you know. I really mean that, by the way." He smiled before finally making his way out of the room and down the hall to Addie's. // Time skip noises (Feel free to put in your whatchamathing first though! ^^) // When Hitashi had said that he had some work to do, he'd really just meant that he wanted to help Addie with some basic chores and cleaning. His back was still killing him, so he needed something to do that didn't involve intense physical labor. He'd been doing a good job of hiding it around Grim so far, and he was hoping that it would remain that way until it was healed. "Hitashi, Addie- Are you two getting hungry?" Mitria called from the doorway, interrupting the conversation they had been having. "I don't know about you, but I could eat." Addie shrugged, and Hitashi (for once) agreed with her. They'd been working for a few hours now, and it was nearly dinner time. "Alright, then. I'll let Diego know." Mitria smiled. Hitashi was glad to finally be back on good terms with her. He still felt bad for yelling at her and Diego a while ago, and he had been trying to find ways to make up for it. He'd already apologized for the incident around twenty times, but that wasn't enough to satisfy his guilt-ridden mind. "Actually-" Hitashi paused, wondering how this would go over. "Could I help? You and Diego do most of the cooking, so what if Addie and I try for a change?" He suggested, which seemed to surprise the older woman. "I mean- I wouldn't mind, but you know how Diego feels about other people being in his kitchen." She warned, but he knew it would be fine in the end. "Alright, then. It's your funeral." The woman finally gave in, turning to go and let Diego know about the new plan. Addie hadn't initially wanted to help, but she very quickly warmed up to the idea of cooking when she convinced Hitashi to help her make brownies. They weren't something that Hitashi had ever really had before, so she was even more excited for him to try them. They'd been working on dinner for around an hour now, and Diego was ready to lose it if they didn't get the fuck out of his kitchen. "Are you two troublemakers done yet?! I swear- If I come in there and everything is trashed, you're DEAD." Diego called from outside. Mitria had been helping to keep him busy, but he was very quickly losing his patience. "Relax, man. We're done! Food's ready and served." Hitashi laughed, stepping out of the kitchen while drying his hands off with a rag. "Took you long enough!" Xian rolled their eyes, but Hitashi had learned to just ignore them. The staff all made their way into the kitchen and began taking their bowls, sitting down anywhere they could in the kitchen. This was where they usually ate together, and it was always a good time. "Hey, has Grim not left his room yet?" Hitashi asked Mitria quietly so that the highlighter wouldn't get on his ass again for speaking informally. "No- He doesn't usually come down for dinner. The night we got into an argument was a bit of a rare occasion when he was down here." She shrugged. That didn't sit well with Hitashi. How often did he just lock himself up there in his room for days at a time? From the way the other staff members talked about it, he knew that it was far too often. With that, he grabbed another bowl, turning for the door. "Hita, where are you going?" Addie asked. The nickname still made him a bit homesick, but it brought him joy at the same time. "I'm uh- I'm just gonna-" He struggled to come up with a quick excuse. "Oh let him go- What he does is none of our business." Diego sighed, seeming content with the fact that they hadn't fucked up the kitchen. "Speak for yourself-" Xian laughed. "I bet he's off to see Ma-" They began, but Hitashi was quick to interject. "Shut it, highlighter!" He snapped, feeling his face flush. "Hmmm~ So I am right." They noted. "Huh? What's going on?" Addie asked, seeming genuinely clueless. He shook his head and left, heading through the confusing hallways to get to Grim's room. He wasn't sure why he was embarrassed, though. The other staff always made sure that he remembered to eat, so why was it any different when he did that for Grim? Eh. Whatever. |
