@Keycatt:

Personally, I don't see why clans have to be social only! I can see the arguments you're making, but I don't think there needs to be an incredible cost to participate in these events! An energy would be a cost as well. I think it makes sense to cap participation at one fight/hunt a day if it was implemented. And I think it's valid to play on more on your own, but this is a multiplayer game by nature! I'm sure plenty of clans would be pretty low-key on social interaction, and players could just join them to help in the fights without having to do the social part. I don't think the rewards should be so crazy high that the game becomes centered around having to be in a clan or that new or small clans couldn't do well, but I think it could be very fun and interesting to have it have more mechanics than just social benefits. Again, it is a multiplayer game, so I think really bolstering the multiplayer aspect of the games plays to its strengths and purpose.

I like the term Alliance for clans (thanks Leafelora), as it does imply joining forces between packs. I see that a lot of people are supporting this choice already.

I support Naike's suggestion of a clan boss fight, as it would be a fun way to interact with your clan.  It would be interesting to have a new role specifically for that, maybe "Defender"?

polymorph-chronicles mentioned Player vs. Player battles for trophies. There could be a "Champion" role that is for wolves that can be sent to these battles. Though if it is implemented on a larger scale (clan vs. clan), maybe don't include a separate role.

Another role I'd like to suggest is Ambassador. This wolf could interact with other clans (maybe the "visit" similar to a scout mission) and could have some flavor text about what they did/learned. (this may be a bit too role play-esque to be practical)

Some kind of quest or scavenger hunt where clan members donate items for a goal which provides a reward would be neat.

It is important to balance the clan system so that non-participating (solo) players aren't disadvantaged. And that players who aren't active for large parts of the day can still participate.

I'm sorta concerned that clans/alliances might dampen things socially.

For instance, I'm a very casual/tangential part of the Raise and Chase community. I don't regularly R&C wolves, but I've posted in the R&C thread a few times to show off wolves I'm chasing or wolves I've found. I also like scrolling through to see other people's chases/finds. If R&C becomes an official alliance with a private message board, then I'd just be shut out from that. I'm not a big enough R&C-er that I'd apply for membership to the alliance or be willing to pay fees.

Alternately, if the public R&C thread keeps going, that's great, but then what's the point of having an alliance?

As I loved the clans in the Lioden game, I would love to see those here as well.

This thread should be about alliances, not clans. Pair bonding between packs in the alliance sounds also great. I'm mostly leaning toward Lionel's opinion regarding the social aspect of an alliance which seems to be nothing but QoL adjustment so we'd like to see more. Users can currently talk in a chatter thread about anything and no one seemed to have an issue regarding privacy. Similarly with polls, member list, custom roles and CSS which can be included in a chatter thread. Users are sending items and currency (if you mean transferring currency as fees) directly between each other if somewolf needs help. Discounts seem to be impossible for most users who set prices for studding and everything at minimum. The only thing worth implementing would be group messaging but this might feel like an idea to be implemented separately.

Also, I'd like to raise a few more questions.

How much would be the limit of members in the alliance?

It's great if we're allowed to invite wolfever we want so infinite space is the most convenient choice. However, alliance leaderboards are fun alone but not with an alliance that could get the most members and claim 1st places in all leaderboards.

How would the alliance cope with an inactive owner?

I'd like to see a possibility to replace the owner if the alliance needs somewolf else to represent rather than leaving the alliance and starting over with another one.

Would the alliance names be unique?

Giving a possibility to name the alliance the same as another might be confusing, so it'd be better to have this unique. But if we had to have unique alliance names, imagine claiming an alliance name that somewolf else would like to get. You might want to create an alliance from an inactive user. Also, once alliances get implemented, first come first served who takes the name.

Clans are an amazing idea! They should be a good place for resources and swapping items and requesting items. There should be clan leader boards and breeding offered within them. Perhaps limit 1-3 wolves per account per clan? Meaning you can put only your best food forward. New roles and opportunities for XP for wolves should certainly be added. Fighting roles, Tinker toy crafting roles, etc. I'm excited to see what everyone else says!

Maybe a separate chat that people can toggle to for clan recruitment advertisements or for looking for a certain type of clan. So that it doesn't end up being advertised in sales or main chat, just a thought.

Edit: I commented without reading the other comments so i didn't know others also had this idea
