Aster just stayed silent, playing with the hem of his shirt. But after a moment, she stirred and looked into his eyes " Laz, whatever your mother has against me, I have taken harsher words that that. I just wasnt expecting  those words first of all.  I thought it would be  more warm and gentle. But no. It wasnt. If you truly have feelings for me, Laz, then tell your mother, in front of me. I love you Laz. And if your mother doesnt like it, then thats tough, because I wont leave you. Alright?"

She got the courage to look up at him with her royal eyes. " I wont have our relationship ruined because of what she says about me. I may be a royal and you a commoner, but that wont stop me from loving you."

She gave him a long kiss before releasing his hold, but did take his hand in hers and slowly walked back into the house. " Lets, just....try this again. " she sighed squeezing his hand as they headed tot he couch. 

Lazarus chuckled a bit awkwardly, rubbing a hand over her shoulder in a soft manner before he spoke up a little to try and answer her questions a bit. "She isn't... all soft and fuzzy all the time, not unless it's with only people she fully trusts, but again reasons are there. I just.. don't think I can talk about it right now. And I did say it, I wouldn't just let her be rude, not matter if it comes from good intentions or not." He tried to assure her somehow, despite how it wasn't exactly easy. He'd have to tell her eventually why she was so against it, but at this point it wasn't good.

Lazarus allowed her to kiss him, moving a hand to lightly feel over her cheek before allowing them to start to go back. Still, he was a bit worried, but there was the hope things would go a bit better than they had initially. He allowed them to go to the couch and simply looked over at his mother, who had fixed the fire and seemed to be looking over the chicks once again, the lightest yellow one cupped in her hands.

"Hey... ma, uh, I think they are fine if you want to sit down as well." He questioned lightly, getting her to look over, but she shook her head no which didn't help the awkward nature that started to settle in.

"I think I'm fine over here with the little ones." She murmured, setting the chick down to pick up one of their siblings instead and check over them as well.

Aster sighed as she eyed  the mother " look, I dont want to seem rude, but this is Laz's house. He can do as he wants when he wants with whoever he wants. And it was a coincidence that we met at the festival many months ago. So its not your place to tell him who he can or cant be with. I love your son. Dearly. " she eyed Lazarus with a kind smile. 

" Plus I think he understands why he needs me. And I, him. " Aster chuckled as she stroked his hand in hers " let your son be who he wants to be. let him be free. Free to choose his own pathway, like I did a while back.  I am not harming him, and he isnt either. Im begging you to understand, where I am coming from."  Even though Lazarus was beside her, she still felt a little hesitant on being close to his mother or at least talking to her.

The mother set the chick down as she heard Aster speak up to her, shifting to look at her with an almost done look, not seeming to impressed with it, but then again, Lazarus knew his mother was never easily impressed in the first place. He sighed lightly and shifted to lightly nudge her when she mentioned letting him be free, as that did get his mother to lightly glare a bit.

"Last I checked I never told him once to leave nor tell him where to go or what to do. Despite what you seem to believe, I do not think my simple question of is he being forced into this is a wrong one. I having seen my Lazarus in many, many months, so pardon me for bothering to check to see if he is alright-" Again she seemed to catch her self ranting, sighing loudly and moving to head into the kitchen, seeming to actually start cleaning of all things.

Lazarus frowned, biting his lip before speaking up, "Okay uh, if I may say something uh, again I am fine and again Aster I promise you she didn't tell me I have to leave you she is just, uh, concerned as any mother would be so we can just all settle a little." He spoke up before turning to speak just to Aster, " Sorry, she's kind of a stubborn mule at times..." He murmured, the last part whispered as, even if he was an adult, he never did like calling his mother stubborn to her face as true as it might be.

Aster layed her head on his chest. " Laz.. im sorry. I.. shouldn't have said what I did to your mother. that was absolutely rude of me and I'm sorry." she didn't just say it to him, she made sure his mother heard it. " my father would kill me if  I called him that." she chuckled slightly before sitting up " but.. I dont think we have to worry about that any more since Im not going back to the Palace any time soon" she said as she leaned into him and kissed him, she didnt care  that his mother hated her or not, she just was glad she found someone she could count on when she felt at her worst. "  So.. w-whats on- the menu- for food Laz" she asked " getting hungry."

She then controlled her self as to not over due things when company was here, she backed  off off Lazarus and just looked at the chicks. Pepper, her little one, was wanting attention. " I'll make a deal with you  Laz, if you handle food for today, ill feed all the animals for you. deal?"

Lazarus lightly hushed her, shifting to press a soft kiss to the top of her head to let her know it's okay, they were both in an awkward situation and he couldn't lie that his mother had it coming with how she upset Aster initially.  "It's alright, I think you both just kinda were rude to each other so now it should be even enough. Let's just... be nicer overall, for now. Uh..." He paused at the question of food, thinking over it for a bit before he seemed to get an idea.

"Oh, Ma why don't you make some of that old stew you used to make when me or sis were feeling stressed. I've always tried to recreate it, but I could never make it feel as homey." He decided to ask, turning towards where his mother was still cleaning some dishes. She was a bit surprised and gave him a confused look, but he then relaxed and nodded her head yes.

"I can do that if you want. Badger will need to be put away, though. I had just set him in the fenced area, but he doesn't have a stable right now." She explained lightly, to which Lazarus nodded and offered a smile as he was hoping this would help make it better.

"Well, I don't know about your deal, Aster, but how about we do it together and I can also handle badger, just to be safe. Badger is her horse, to clarify. Maybe the only one Lacey doesn't mind." Lazarus said to Aster, as he hoped that it would make her happy with how she clearly enjoyed having helped take care of the animals.

" i would be honored to help you, Laz" Aster smiled at him " then we have to get back to your reading Laz.. I hope you havent been putting that off. " she teased as she stood up and waited for Lazarus to come with her. " You promised me, so come on. " she gave him her hand to take and  she was the one leading them outside to  care for the animals before dinner was ready

" Imma have to grab the second book for you at some point, Laz. but it would be a risky job. I dont know what my father is doing, now that im not at the palace. But if you decide to come with me, just... stay calm and dont get angry at what happens if he sees me  there..." her eyes went to his and she took in a deep breath before releasing it as they neared the horses and chickens. " We will talk more about this tonight, hm? Lets get these guys fed before we have ours." She separated from  him after giving him a  kiss on the cheek and went to feed the chickens. 

Lazarus smiled a bit more at that before chuckling a bit at the tease, though he supposed getting back to his reading wouldn't be so bad. It wasn't all that fun, but if it possibly would make Aster happy and make things better, he doubted it would be that bad. He happily followed after her to go take care of the animals, quickly looking to see the black and white stallion in question that he made a note to check, but he instead had his focus shifted to what the princess had brought up.

"Well... I think I have a few comments on that, but if you want to talk more about it later I won't bring it up just yet." He explained softly, moving to kiss her forehead before he left to go and get Badger brushed off and taken care of, as he was a rather large horse and part of him worried it'd be a little more scary then the two mares Aster has dealt with so far. He wondered about the goats as well, but for now he figured that focusing on the most 'threatening' animal would be for the best. Not that he'd ever hurt Aster on purpose, Badger was an affectionate sweetheart and the only time he got knocked over was when the boy had gave too hard of an affectionate headbutt.

Aster fed and looked over the cickens for an hour before heading o where Lazarus would most likely be " Hi there handsome:  she chuckled as she watched Laz take care of the stallion " He's gorgeous! prolly the most handsomest stallion even ever seen in my life time." she dared not go near him for fear of getting hurt. " Well, the chickens and the chicks have been fed. Now we just have to wait for the meal. "

Her smile broadened when every chore was finally done and they still had some time to each other before meal time. " I think im getting used to this, Laz. Thanks to you and your patience. Im not scared as I was a while back."

They held hands as they slowly made way back to the house and aster led them back to the couch to have some alone time. " need help with the book at all?" she asked as she kissed his hand.

Laz had taken a short amount of time to go feed the goats while Aster took care of the chickens, but by the time she came to find him he had started to quickly brush down Badger who was happy to have the attention. "He is isn't he? Ma raised him from a foal and she's always been mighty proud of how he turned out. Very gentle to, but with his height I'm not surprised you seem a little nervous." He explained softly, patting his neck before shifted to head to her and deal with whatever chores they had left.

"I'm glad. Though... Aster I mean, don't you think you should go back eventually? You can't just decide to stop, really." He softly asked as they headed back, the house starting to smell of the home stew he remembered so much, it almost smelling like home in his eyes.

"Well, it's not really understanding it that's the biggest problem, I just think trying to memorize it is what is going to get me." He explained after grabbing the book down and taking his seat right next to Aster on the couch.
