[Custom Decor] Custom Decor System Needs Reform

This all has been falling on deaf ears for nearly a year now. I guess Head Artists are beyond reproach?

It certainly feels like there's at least a habit of giving "pity passes" to certain CDs with art that Xylax must consider "beneath him."
I can't figure any other reason why some art that needs a lot of rendering work gets approved first try.
And honestly that attitude/behavior is just flat out offensive for everyone involved.

Not to mention people will resubmit basic recolors using all the same lines and layers and just changing the hue or saturation, and suddenly it'll get rejected for some mistake or deficiency?
Like bro, it's the exact same art but in a different color so are you saying you weren't paying attention before? Or are you intentionally making people's lives difficult. It's one or the other lol

Well, given the fact that there is still absolutely zero transparency about how anything works or how anything is being done, I'm just left here to wonder: Are there multiple artists reviewing CDs, or is it just Xylax? Is there a particular artist reviewing Shunk's decor that just so happens to dislike Shunk? Because I can say with confidence that Shunk's work is being unfairly targeted while others are being given "pity passes" which is indeed downright wrong. If there was something Shunk could do to improve a particular piece, I would tell them. But their work always looks fantastic to me, and invariably gets rejected anyway. MAKE IT MAKE ANY SENSE.

Also I kinda am starting to feel that the lack of transparency is intentional so they can get away with this bull.

Skunk's work should've gotten accepted. Personally, I think Xylax is the only one actively reviewing CD's. I also believe the pity passes are real since you can clearly see that some accepted CD's are not as advanced as others.

I tried to do a CD back in like June 2023, it got rejected after a couple of weeks, I changed it and resubmitted it and 5-7 months went by without a single response, acception, OR rejection. I finally had to message and have it cancelled because I am not having my work degraded or waiting for 2 years.

I sincerely believe that Xylax has some issues and plays favorites. I've heard so much bad things about him from a multitude of other players (Like 9+ people). If your entire community hates dealing with you then it's time to step down. Sorry not sorry.

I don't think it's just Xylax. I don't have any proof at all, but I have some memory of them saying there's multiple people working with CD approvals, and I always assumed that's why there's such inconsistency. You could theoretically submit the exact same CD twice and get different results I'm pretty sure.

Either way, we shouldn't have to sit here wondering who's reviewing our work and what's going on behind the scenes. Like, how am I supposed to suggest effective solutions if they won't tell us a thing about what's happening? If there are multiple artists working on approvals, then it's been made abundantly clear there are some very serious biases, there are some serious inconsistencies, and the entire team needs to be re-trained because clearly no one can agree on anything lmao

Yeah I agree, and the fact that we can't respond to our criticism at all is kind of frustrating. I understand that maybe they don't want to deal with people saying "it's just my style" when they've made a bad drawing or something, but if we take something that happened to me f.ex I made a lighting decor called "northern lights" and they told me it looked like a fake marking so it wasn't approved and they suggested to make it brighter and they suggested for me to overline the lineart with colour to make it look like a lighting decor - side note this kind of made me feel some type of way because I was the first one who made lighting decor and used this technique on my custom decors so they were basically telling me things I already knew - but this one was supposed to be a more muted lighting because northern lights aren't usually super luminous in real life but I had no way of telling them or discussing with them that I wanted to make a more muted and realistic lighting, all I could do was ask them in modbox to send me my cd creator back.
I did touch up the cd a year or something later made it a tiiiiny bit brighter and it was approved instantly

Yes, in my opinion we absolutely need some way to communicate and respond to criticism. I know it opens a Pandora's box of people arguing  "it's just my style" and will probably take more time overall -- which is why I have suggested having a separate dedicated team of employees specifically for this. Probably 2 to 4 people could handle the entirety of CD needs for the game at its current size depending on whether they are full-time or part-time. I know that this will demand more resources from Lioden LTD © so they probably won't consider it. But if we had (A) transparency, (B) a small focused team who are in close communication to avoid inconsistencies and confusion, and (C) a way to communicate, ask questions & respond to criticism, I think we'd all be a helluva lot happier.
