Please don't introduce humans as battle-able enemies

If it is at all possible, I would really appreciate a toggle. I don't want to see, and especially not battle with humans.

If you want a toggle, it'd be best to propose precisely how the toggle would work so the devs may catch on an idea how to do it.

I would greatly appreciate a toggle as well. To be honest, based on the new encounters I won't be playing this site much anymore except for Lunar events, where I don't have to worry about running into human encounters. I don't mind playing the game one week a month instead of every day.

For what I would want a toggle to do specifically would be to remove the option for these new encounters where you interact with humans to come up as options when the game randomly selects things to happen to you during the Explore. And especially battles. For example, I spend most of my time in the Glacier right now. I've seen there's two new encounters, one where you explore a crashed ocean liner and one where you steal food from two men fishing, and also there's a hunter battle where you directly fight a human holding a gun. I would want all three to not be available if I turned the toggle on.

I don't think it would be hard to program in a toggle like this, though I don't know the details of programming so maybe I'm incorrect. But I assume there's a bank of possibilities for encounters, and each biome is programmed to pull certain ones. For example, you have to be in the rainforest to pull the rainforest exclusive encounters, or the rainforest can also pull the ones that are available to all biomes.

So make a toggle that will exclude all the new human encounters from the bank when its triggered, so that no biomes have the ability to pull those encounters when the toggle is activated.

Humans are in the game and I kinda see it as when we battle a human we are controlling their population instead of them controlling our population but yeah I agree I hate battling hunters but I also see why we battle them to protect the pack but we should have a toggle option where we disable hunter encounters. Other human encounters I don't mind

Support. While I love the new explore content and creatures recently released, I don't like that they added human enemies. It's unrealistic and further, I think it's unnatural. Wolves rarely, if ever attack humans. They are shy and secretive. Having wolves attack human enemies in this game sends the wrong message about them as a species. Wolves are not aggressive towards humans and pose extremely little threat to human life.

Wolves have been so wrongly vilified in every media canvas across the world. This game had so far avoided that. With the new development update introducing human enemies, I feel like Wolvden is now playing into that vilification, even if that wasn't the developers' intent.

I much prefer the neutral/silly encounters with humans in this game, though I don't really like having humans in the game at all to be honest. This game had such a natural set and tone for so long and that's been wearing away with each human aspect added. (For example, the human-like NPCs in events). Though I understand humans are everywhere and impact the environment and behavior of wolves and other animals, I'd rather see this game go back to a fun animal sim.

Or at least get rid of the human attack encounters. Change them into observation encounters, or give an option to "Run Away." Something like that would be better suited to the game and better represent wolves as a species.

Edit: After reading some other feedback in here, I have to agree with what a lot of you are saying about adding human enemies ruining the immersion of the game. It was lovely when it was just about wolves (albeit wolves with some anthropomorphic traits) interacting with each other and other animals. The more human stuff they add the more that immersion breaks.

Also, some of you referred to poll results that came in over 2 years ago. I realize coding and artwork take time, but shouldn't the devs have considered the player base and opinions on the matter may have changed in that time? Many new players have come on since then, and many have also left the game. They might have done a more recent poll to get a feel of the current player base's desire for human enemies before adding them.

And it was pointed out that you can skip these encounters and not battle the humans, but that's not the whole point. Simply coming across the encounter at all and seeing a human with a gun aimed in your direction is triggering for me and perhaps others as well. I don't know that it's enough to just bypass it after the image has already been seen. I know the sister game Lioden has encounters like this but I loved that Wolvden didn't. It's one of the reasons that I preferred Wolvden over Lioden.

Perhaps the human battle encounters could be limited so that they were only encountered by lead wolves with aggressive personalities? That way if you don't want to see them you can change your wolf's personality, if need be. And the time spent on artwork and such won't be wasted.

I like the idea of humans but not the hunter encounters it sends a bad message to people but I agree only wolves with an aggressive trait can attack humans but still the other human encounters I like just not human battles please change this to if you encounter a hunter you lose hp instead of us battling them...ithe only time we battle hunters is if our lead wolf is sick with rabies...yes rabid wolves in the wild have Ben known to attack and kill a human

I like the idea of players having the option to change Lead personalities to suit their play style re: humans. As long as non-aggressive Leads don't even encounter a human. Giving 1 Personality Changer to every player when implemented would be easy enough so everyone makes their choice & we move on.

@ ToasterWolf  I don't support taking a HP hit for encountering a hunter when there's no way for the player to avoid that loading. That's why I first suggested a toggle to avoid all human encounters. We have a toggle to set our Den displays between Card view or Original view. One click & done. How you display your Den doesn't impact my choice of display. If either of us change our mind about it we click the toggle to the other option. Maybe human non/encounters could work the same way. Again I don't code so I'm not certain how much work that would take.

I stand firm on the stance that this thread has a skewed idea of how many players even care that humans exist in the game. If another poll said people didn't want humans, then what, they remove them? That would be fair, but it would also be fair to run another poll two years after that. And if that one said people wanted humans again, then they should be re-added, right?

Where is the line drawn of when a poll based on added content is considered good enough? (Not adjusting the content, I mean the addition of the content itself.) I'm genuinely asking. If they aren't considered valid, they might as well remove polls altogether. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm not a fan of the idea of having personality decide whether one encounters humans or not. The personalities already have different effects. Let's say I wanted a wolf with a friendly or romantic personality, but also wanted to encounter humans - by not choosing the aggressive personalities, I wouldn't be able to interact with the human encounters and would be missing out.

I don't think anything needs to change. The staff made their decision. At the very most, a toggle to turn human encounters off, but no more than that.
