Gene Check is WAY too Expensive

Posted 2021-02-10 10:46:01

I just scried my mel-wolf and it's not a carrier.

Fantastic waste of my SC.

Supporting. Some change needs to be made, cause 150 SC is way too much. I spent 750sc to check my litter of possible albino carriers, it's an insane amount of money. I agree we should be able to choose one gene for a cheaper price or preferably, lower it a bit, at least to like 100. So checking NWBs isn't a complete waste of money.

honestly 100% agree, wtf i want the scrying stone back lmao i actually used it for not-mutation scries occasionally, it honestly sucks :/

Support. I'm not even going to bother with trying to find carriers. I'll just breed my mutations together. That's 2 gc worth of sc. If anything it'll just hurt the GC market more because people who want to use the gene bat will need to sell more GC for SC

I support scries, there is now no way to check if other wolves are carriers or not unless the owners scry them. Since a lot of people won't want to pay that much to check every wolf. I do a max of 60-80sc per wolf I scry, nearly half of this.

I agree. Given how hard you have to work for sc, tripling the price of what you would normally spend to check is insane.

@ Hircine

To be honest though mate, you already know that your melanistic wolf is a carrier, because it has the showing change due to receiving the gene. For now it looks like Gene checking showing muties  is a waste UNLESS you're looking to see if they carry a different gene

I support Kas's decision. Scrying 50 sc max for all mutations and 25sc max for one mutation per wolf would be best. I don't want to worry even more about grinding sc for territory. I barely get past 1000 sc. No way I am paying 150 sc. That is just unfair for all of us players. It's even a bigger waste if you scry 6 pups and they all turn to be non-carriers or only 1 of them turns out be a carrier.

I agree that the overall price should be cheaper, and that we should have the option which mutation we want to scry for.

I would suggest perhaps ~25sc per mutation, with a checkbox list to check mark which mutations you want to scry for.

I think that maybe this price could be made higher when we find a way to increase the value of wolves in TC. Because, as the Devs and everyone already knows, rare wolves are going for too cheap. But this is a maybe.

100% support for this! I can understand that scrying for all mutations at once would be more expensive even with the old scrying stone method, but realistically most people DON'T check for all the recessive genes at once. Most people are breeding for specific mutations, and don't need to be checking for all of them at once because they know which one they want and which genes the pups are likely to have. Forcing you to check for ALL recessive genes at 150sc is prohibitively expensive for veteran and new players alike; there's just no efficient way to make that kind of sc, and if you're looking to sell the pups you're scrying, chances are you'll be doing so at a loss.

I love the idea of a dedicated gene checker like this. It's a wonderful idea and has a lot of potential for more features to be added to it! But it's implementation right now is marred by the cost being far too high for how much sc a person can reasonably earn. I would gladly use it on a regular basis if only i could afford to do so.
