please don’t integrate karma! (addendum: at least not how exists in LD)

Count me in as someone who is worried about the concept and implementation of karma. I don’t play lioden so I don’t fully grasp how it works there but the whole good/evil binary does not interest me, especially in relation to a wild animal doing what it must to survive (which is how I envision my playstyle).

I support this because I do not want to have to think twice every time I click an option in explore and I think it takes away from the reward aspect of the option outcomes.

Agreed this isn't lioden yet it feels almost like a carbon copy but with wolves:

1 hunting team at a time when in reality packs go out as a whole to hunt

1 slot to be obtained at a time via coin (now you don't have the option to increase a slot by fighting) why this system when one could buya cave unlocking mire than a single slot

Same issues with cubs and an imbalance in the system leading to a market filled of unwanted cubs.

There are diseases here I don't think adding a karma system would be really beneficial :/

I love the art I like the concept I just wish they would break away and create something new :(

my thoughts on the subject is i like how wolvden feels like it has a more personal and spiritual system, vs how lioden has a more structured religious system. I think that's just right for both of them. I wouldn't like a whole bunch of judeo-christian influence to be thrown into wolvden as well.

also, it's a big problem how arbitrary and micromanage-y the lioden system is. as is, the karma system fails to fulfill its purpose of giving your choices weight because if an encounter only affects karma, then it doesn't feel like your choice had any weight behind it. yet if an encounter has different prizes tied to each karma choice, then it doesn't feel like you're making the choice for yourself/your character, it feels like you're just weighing benefits. it doesn't offer any immersion either because choices and point values aren't logically thought out or scaled.

besides wolvden doesn't have two accounts for each player so you can't play both sides.

I 100% support! I wasn't fond of the karma system on LD, I completely agree that it added unnecessary stress to the game. It wasn't very fun, especially when some rewards were only given depending on karma which was kind of annoying. I also really like @Nika (#104750)'s point "nature is neutral". There isn't really "good" and "evil" in nature as it's all purely about survival. I personally just feel that a karma system doesn't fit into the game.

I support!

The karma system on LD doesn't bother me that much, but I was glad that it was absent here on Wolvden.

In the sister site you are inclined to pick the "evil" option especially as a new player because of all the benefits a negative karma gives. It's dang hard to keep a positive karma when you get -5 karma for battling the most common encounter too. I like the way it is without it, especially since Wolvden seems to have a grayer-ish aproach on morality, which I enjoy. And blue-orange morality might be a thing here, since these wolves seem to act more like their animal counteroart than on the sister site.

It just doesn't sit right with me that you are deemed evil for taking opportunities yeah? The only thing Karma influences is the items you recieve, not your actual reputation.

I also really dislike the karma system. I don’t want to feel guilty for making “bad” interactions to get stuff I need.

Support. I really don't like the karma system at all in lioden and I would hate for it to be implemented in Wolvden. It feels very freeing to not have to be stuck with a ''evil or hero'' stance and absolutely loathe how the game forces you to go towards Hero anyway, so you just end up never really winning. A lot of valuable items have been lost on my side because I feel forced to pick the ''right'' decision anyway and I really don't want to feel the same way in here.

I'm on the fence as I kinda like karma systems, but I also don't want Wolvden to become Lioden but with wolves either. An alignment system like in DnD might be a fun and more involved twist to the idea of karma where there is more than good, evil, and neutral(which is hard to keep in Lioden) but also variations of the three basic alignments. It'd also be fun if instead of only affecting item drops title and or a minor appearance change your choices affected some aspects of gameplay. For example you do something absolutely heinous and kill, say, an innocent NPC wolf pup that was looking for it's family in Explore, it could trigger a difficult battle between you and a wolf pack. Or you could help it and get some kind of minor blessing that makes hunts or scouting new regions easier until the next rollover. Some actions could even tick off the spirit world and cause storms that screw you over in hunts/scouting or send plagues of caring severity depending on what you did. The amount of bad vs good actions you do and how you respond to certain NPCs like Tala would slowly change your alignment over time, lawful, true, chaotic, good or evil or something inbetween.
