Ping Users Watching Your Trade

Posted 2021-06-03 15:37:56

I support this as well! I've had trades being watched where I could easily have sent a message to those people to say "hey this wolf will be chased soon" or something instead of having to take down the trade, adjust prices or the offer description, and then recreate it, also losing those possible interested buyers.

gravedigging a little to bring this back to attention. related to this, i find it strange that you don't get notified when another user makes an offer on a trade you currently have an offer on. i think it would be valuable to know when you might be outbid, so to speak, so you can make a counter offer. i'm basically describing an auction, but the features already exist for an auction to be possible, so that extra step would make it much more streamline.

users watching a trade should also be notified when an offer has been placed.

right now, it feels as though "watching" a trade is only a means of bookmarking it and being pinged when it's no longer available.

to wrap it back around to pings in general, the trade poster should have the ability to alter the buyout or send updates to watchers when the trade is going to expire soon for whatever reason.

one last thought: if a user doesn't want update pings as i described, perhaps there can be a "subscribe" toggle!

Love your ideas Arcadia! You're so right - the watch trade is def just a glorified bookmark. I'll add your comments to the post!

As a seller seeing watchers, I also had similar thought as most feedback here - that I wish I could ping watchers about the trade.

As a watcher though, I usually watch to see if the trade gets buyout out, offered or cancelled as there's not much more usefulness of the watching mechanic - I usually forget that I'm watching trades at all. I'm curious about watchers feedback here because there's not a lot of them in this thread. Even though some potential buyers watching trades would like to be reminded, I think it's better to set an offer right then than to watch to offer later unless there's purpose of postponing the offer?

I like the alternatives brought up by Arcadia, though it's better to give feedback in their proper threads about being notified when watched trade receives an offer and the ability to alter the buyout.

Full support of the idea! Can't tell you how many times I'm watching a trade only for the poster to cancel or get outbid because I wasn't paying attention for a little too long. Adding on to your idea, they should also allow us to edit trades so we don't have the problem of losing watchers when we're trying to make our trade titles more accurate.

This is really good idea! I start watch trade, but I forget on it. And after some time I only receive a notification that the sale has been cancelled. Can be amazing if seller can write to us! :3
