Being able to alter your trade without having to cancel it.

Being able to alter your trade without having to cancel it.

Hi devs!

Today, I had this idea. It would be really cool if we could alter our trades as in up or lower the price and change the text for the add!

I will explain the idea here. Let's say I post a pup for sale, I bump the post for a couple days and he's not really moving, maybe I just want to alter the text to say something like "Reduced Price today only!" or something similar. It should also be noted once an offer has been made you shouldn't be able to alter the trade until you reject all current offers "of course." and lower my asking price without having to actually cancel my add,  I am hoping this may help with the server load as well?

I had this idea because I realized. Well this is not so much of a problem as a quality of life thing, I honestly think you all did an amazing job with the auction house. <3

In order for my idea to get added to the game, I think the following will be required from the devs: [artwork], [coding], [writing], [server tweaks]. There will most certainly be coding to be done probly some server tweaks, no artwork or writing though!

Thank you to whoever reads this, regardless if you agree or not, all input is appreciated <3

Oh god, yes please, canceling trades just to tweak them is very annoying if you have a lot of them

Support! The only issue would be is you shouldn’t be allowed to edit a trade while there is an offer on it, or if you edit a trade it automatically rejects any offer on it. Otherwise someone could change the contents of a trade and then accept the offer without the other person knowing.

Yes! You're absolutely right I'm going to edit he post to include that condition!

I think this could go wrong very fast. What if I buy out a trade while the owner has just edited but I didn't reload my page? I'm not sure if/how this could be avoided.

@Gemna Snow, I think there can probably be a lock put into place to prevent people from accidentally buying out a trade at the same time somebody is editing it. I'm sure I've seen similar things on other games.

That would be super useful! I'd love to be able to lower my prices, or remove some item that I accidentally mis-clicked into my trade, without having to do it over again.

Full support with Viridian’s suggestion, and adding in that the game automatically sends a notification that a trade you’ve offered on has been edited!

I hate having to cancel a trade when I just want to adjust the price (to lower it usually, haha) or fix the title!

This should be super doable coding wise, since the game already notifies you of updates to topics that you’ve subscribed to and other notifications! Just a simple little “A trade you have offered on has been edited, please check and ensure you still wish to keep your current offer.”

And to ensure that people who have offered on edited trades perhaps there could a cool down between editing a trade and being able to accept offers?

Support! I loathe redoing trades just to edit the price (which is usually being lowered, not made higher)... THIS would be awesome!

I think this is a great idea as long as there isn't an offer already made. perhaps if you want to edit after an offer has been made it would refuse to allow you to do it. "you must refuse all pending offers before you can edit this trade" kind of prompt.
