Option to be notified if a watched trade receives an offer

Option to be notified if a watched trade receives an offer
Posted 2021-02-19 07:21:49

Hello devs!

So recently I’ve been offering on a few trades, only to be “out bid” by someone else with a better offer. Sometimes the trade stays up for longer than a day, so I often forget to look at the trade for other offers and make a new, better offer. Oftentimes, another offer gets accepted when I think I’m the only one offering!

So my suggestion is this: add an optional function that allows a user to be notified if another users offers on a watched trade.

This could be another opt in statement like the watch trade question: “would you like to be notified on new offers for this trade?” And if you click yes, then you get game notifications like the trade owner does.

You remind me when I was bidding for fox tails and pelts, I wished then I had been notified about competitors outbidding me.

Haha, not fox items for me, but NBW albino carriers. But this would definitely help out for highly sought out items too!

Huge support. The trades/buying system is kind of a mess, so anything to help ease it toward better usability has got my vote.

Yes, please. I originally thought this was what the 'watch trade' function would be to start with, not that it would just... y'know, bookmark it. I can make bookmarks on my own, what I need from this feature is to be notified instead of having to check it manually!

Granted, I imagine it might annoy some people to get a lot of notifications so maybe have the ability to turn those on and off for individual trades?

Support! Often, I watch a trade because I'm curious about how much the wolf/item in question will sell for. So it's very uninformative just to get a message "Watched Trade Completed" with no information about what the offer was.

okay I know this is pretty old at this point but I wanna bring it back!!! it seems silly that this isn't already how the 'watch' feature works, considering right now it basically functions as a bookmark... which... is already its own feature!!  I, too, like to watch trades just to get an idea of what it might go for, so I like seeing the different offers!  also it's a bummer when there is something I'm interested in and it gets snagged before I can even see what I was up against.

even if it was just a banner notif vs. a message we receive, I think it would make a huge difference!

(also I'm sorry if this has been discussed by staff since this thread was originally posted lmao)

I fully support this! I'm honestly not sure what the point of watching a trade is, as the feature stands - like others have said, I can bookmark trades on my own. I think it would be much more helpful to get information about what offers the trade is getting rather than just receiving a notification when the trade ends.
Also on the flip side, it would make me feel better as a seller to know that those who are interested have a fair chance to offer before I accept a trade. I don't like to leave anyone waiting for too long, but I hate ending trades when I don't know if everyone who may have wanted to offer actually got a chance.
I think an optional toggle is a great idea, so people who do like to use it as a bookmarking system can still do that without clogging up their notifications.
