Reduced Reliance on RNG (from the perspective of a game maker)

Support!! I’ve been thinking the same thing. I’d love for the decisions I make and the work I put into leveling up to matter. Right now? I have no real strategy, because my strategy is essentially hoping I get lucky and win. That’s not... fun. I’m probably gonna stop trying to actively level up my lead at 15 because that’s when the last benefits come (I think). My level 13 wolf shouldn’t regularly have their butts kicked by enemies more than half their level just because of RNG. Honestly, it’s just about as easy to fight a level 5 enemy as a level 15 enemy because of the RNG.. and that is a problem.

I'm not a game developer at all but a lot of this matches the frustration I've been feeling with battling. Somehow 1 through 10 was pretty okay, I lost about as often as I expect, but getting through level 11 has been a huge chore and and only at 88%. I've been keeping track of battles and it just seems very random? Like percentage wise, yes I lose more to higher levels that I do lower levels. But not by much and it certainly feels like it's random chance.

100% support, the RNG makes the battling option so draining in my opinion. Some randomness is good, but not everything should be left to random chance. Thanks for putting it so eloquently!

I definitely support this idea.

I think battling should be enjoyable and entertaining but instead, for quite a few people I've talked to, it's become more of a chore. I'm not one to aim for high-stat wolves so the only real reason I'm currently battling is to reach level 15 and I don't see myself battling much more after that point. Of course with the addition of events, I'm sure battling will still be something people will want to do in order to get required points, items, etc. However, without something changing with the current RNG system, people might also lose interest in even participating in events if having to battle enemies is "too costly" or "too much work".

I also really like the idea of having temporary stat boosters to help out with especially tough opponents and I can already tell you I'd spend money to use them if they were available.

Some features/interactions just seem like filler, when they could be so much more! (Which can be fine when there's a lot going on and when done nicely can add some real ''ah that's nice'' moments, but clicking to simply feed/play your wolves with no interaction is blegh, I don't really see a lot of direction on how to fight, or much real strategy to it, other than you fight that you die, fight that you win). I would definitely like some more specific character control and more deviation in outcomes/more options to begin with. :D

I absolutely support this. I've been playing for a little while and to be honest, I'm already getting a bit bored of coming back each day.

I would love for my game progress to be reflected in some way in the explore encounters I get and the way my wolves manage in their respective roles. Sure, diagnosing is free now that my herbalist is up to 100% proficiency, but the cost to diagnose wasn't insurmountable earlier and now I have almost nothing to show for having the same wolf in that role for a long time.

My hunters either succeed or don't at 100% synergy. Their synergy doesn't seem to affect the hunt at all right now, and it would be great for it to have at least a bit more effect on their success.

I don't even battle enemies any more unless required for quests.

considering i JUST lost a fight with a bear, only one level above me, while at full health, AND using a lucky foot?

yeah. the rng can stand to relax a little

Very big support from me!

More than once I have been defeated my enemies half my levels. RNG really makes the fights feel like draw of luck, did I use lucky feet or not. Because of this I don't really bother fighting unless I'm doing a guest that requires me to.

Please, please, please. My level 13 lead shouldn't be getting her ass handed to her by a level 7 enemy. I appreciate it'll be easier in a few generations when everyone's base stats are generally higher, but for now its silly.

Full 100% support from me!
I really like how you worded this and the clarity of your thoughts. RNG is fun... but only up until it's the only thing that determines anything. If you can't work to manipulate anything in your favor, what's the point of working in the first place? It's difficult, but in a way that you can't work past. There's no strategy, there's no time and effort to put in, only the reliance on good RNG is in play (well enough to actually make much of a difference, that is)
