Adderpaw | Apprentice | Male (He/Him) | Location: Apprentice Den

Adderpaw leapt to his paws, his face breaking into a grin. He didn't move quickly enough to avoid getting pelted with the pebble, but he didn't mind at all. He kicked a pebble of his own toward Troutpaw. He knew that as an apprentice, he probably wasn't supposed to be playing around, but it seemed like most of the warriors were gone right now anyway–there wasn't any harm in kicking around some rocks right now. "If we could just eat rocks, we'd be set, huh?"
Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Kestrelpaw stretching, and he glanced over at her, taking his eyes off Troutpaw. "Sorry, did we wake you up?"

Kestrelpaw||Apprentice||She/Her||Interactions:Adderpaw and Troutpaw||Location:Apprentice Den

Kestrelpaw looked at the two mischievous toms that were playing around with the pebbles on the ground.  She sat up and rubbed her eyes a little with her paw. She shrugs and flicks her tail, not like she could go back to sleep anyways. Her voice had a small hint of rasp in it since she just woke up. "I-it's okay. It was about time for me to wake up anyways." Her paws shift in a little awkwardness, she wasn't so good with others. As a young apprentice, it was only natural that the kitten part of her liked playing with pebbles. She softly just moves the pebbles around with her paws.

Nectarheart | Warrior | Female (She/Her) | Location: Outside Camp

"I'm happy to help where I can," Nectarheart spoke. She's spent plenty of time back as an apprentice helping the medicine cats. It was often her 'punishment' for acting up most the time - if she was punished at all. By apprenticeship, she'd pretty much had herself straightened out, especially after Bumblepaw's passing. "I'm sure you and Brightwhisper will have the herb store stocked in no time." The she-cat hoped she wasn't being to crisp in her words. She sincerely liked helping the medicine cats, especially when it kept her away from having to join a bug hunting or patrol party.

"And in no time we'll all be settled into our place here. Everyone's on edge and exhausted, but we're clan cats," Lowering her head to the ground, Nectarheart could catch many faint scents of prey and predator alike. "We're meant to survive." Her statement finished, she stopped and looked at Quailtooth. "Anyway, I think there's some tansy that way," she nodded in the direction she was talking about. "A few torn leaves right here smell like tansy and it carries off in tbat direction with the day old scent of a vole."

| QuailTooth | Medicine Cat | Male (He/Him) | Location: Herb Hunting |

QuailTooth was happy the she-cat showed interest in helping him. It seemed most of the warriors were above herb collecting. Instead, they would rather fight train or hunt. While Quailtooth enjoyed hunting, he was often too busy to do so, and his fighting skills left much to be desired. All in all, he knew that some warriors would avoid him if he needed help.

Until they come crawling to me with ticks and scrapes and stomachaches, The tom sniffed indignantly, Then they're all too kind. Quailtooth sighed. He wasn't as welcoming as BrightWhisper, but he did his best. It was hard, however, to treat cats who actively avoided his presence unless they had a mildly inconvenient pain or wound.

The toms ears perked as NectarHeart pointed out a scent trail. As he followed the trail, he kept his eyes open. When they finally found the tansy, the herb was bright and yellow as always, bringing a small sense of familiarity to the tom. Well. At least the herbs are the same, if nothing else. The tom picked the tansy carefully, burying them by a nearby trail to retrieve on the way back. Tasting the air, he detected poppy flowers nearby, and he set out.

As he walked, he turned to his she-cat companion. "I agree. We are meant to survive." the tom responded slowly to the she-cats statement. "However, the question is how many will perish as we grasp survival." The tom finished bitterly. He had recently realized just how bitter he'd become. Things he previously cared about now seemed dull and foolish to him, and he sought out more quiet moments.

"Perhaps we should change the subject." Quailtooth sighed. Though, what to change the subject too? What was there to talk about, really? Herbs? Quailtooth was sick of talking about the same few things. Herbs. Prey. Starclan. Dear StarClan, could no one talk about anything else? He missed the laughter and noisiness of the clans kits, but many had perished recently. Now it just seemed quiet.

Brightwhisper | Med. Cat | Female (she/her) | Location: Leader's Den (-> Camp Clearing)

The she-cat nodded. "It is alright, Graystar. I understand that the current times are stressful for you, and I bet that is only an understatement. I will leave all decisions up to you. I believe Pumafoot, Pebbletail, and Shadowheart went hunting, and I could smell Quailtooth and Nectarheart leaving camp, presumably to collect herbs. Smart, bringing someone with him." Brightwhisper smiled, dipping her head to her leader.

"I shall leave you, now, and hope to see you out and about later. Have a nice day." She murmured politely before turning and leaving the den, heading into the clearing. She saw Lionchaser rushing his way over to Graystar's den. She fluffed up her fur, staring at him as he approached.

"You better not bug her. She has an important decision to make." She whispered sharply, pushing her way past the tom on the thin downward path.

As she hopped down into the clearing, she saw Thrushfeather also walking her way. Raising her tail and flattening her fur, she smiled. "Good morning, Thrushfeather. Do you have anything you want to do for the Clan in mind?" Brightwhisper asked with her soft voice, turning her head to shield her eyes from the newly-risen sun.

Shadowheart | Warrior | Male (he/him) | Location: Hunting

Shadowheart nodded approvingly to Pumafoot as he buried his mouse. It was scrawny, but he was glad that the tom hadn't wasted the chance of catching prey nonetheless.

His ears flicked back as he heard Beeclaw conversing with Pebbletail. He was glad that the male had decided to come after all.

A slight rustle caught the tall tom's attention, and he looked up into a younger tree, seeing an unexpectant thrush. It seemed on the border of plump, and he was glad he'd heard it.

Positioning himself directly under the thrush with careful precision, and he was silent for a while before he took a flying leap, straight up, his paws outstretched and ready to grab the thrush.

It barely had time to realize what happened before it was snatched off the branch and slammed onto the ground. Picking it up precariously, Shadowheart brought it over to where Pumafoot had buried his mouse and put his prey there as well.

(I used a spinner to decide whether or not I got it ;p)

Nectarheart | Warrior | Female (She/Her) | Location: Herb Hunting

Nectarheart listened to the medicine cat as he buried the herb. It would be completely useful if cats could make things to hold what they needed when they needed it. She would have continued on the subject, but respected Quailtooth's wish to drop it. Instead, she followed along beside him. "I think if there were a few kits in the clan, everyone's spirits would be higher. But there are no expecting she-cat's as far as I remember." She spoke. "Or if we had things to hold stuff like herbs and prey, we wouldn't have to worry about who's going to carry what or if we might loose things before we can go back to retrieve it."

Personally, Nectarheart had always wanted kits, but she'd never found anyone willing to be her mate. That was most likely her own fault. She'd never been too obsessed over having a family of her own until right before everything went to fox-crap on SkyClan. She understood that kits in the clan might also bring more stress as they had just settled here and didn't know the territory. Kits would most likely get in the way and be a concern for everyone on how they were going to protect the kits in unfamiliar territory with slightly unfamiliar threats. She didn't voice any of that out loud though, she wanted to give Quailtooth time to respond to her first spoken thoughts before she bombarded him with other chatter.

Beeclaw | Warrior | Male (He/Him) | Location: Hunting

Beeclaw noticed the thrush around the same time as Shadowheart, and watched, impressed, as the warrior shot straight up at the bird, easily plucking it off of the tree branch. At least their clan wouldn't starve. Pickings may be slim and slight until they learned the territory, but hunting seemed to be good for the most part. Prey may not be the plumpest or the thickest at the moment, but prey was prey. The clan had to be fed.

Tasting the air, Beeclaw picked up a faint scent of a vole. It wasn't too old, but it was faint. Looking over at the rest of the patrol to make sure he wouldn't be getting too far away from them, he stalked after the trail. It was a few hare hops off the trail they were following along, but the scent was stronger.

Halting in his tracks, Beeclaw took a slow breath as his eyes scanned the ground. Just off to his left, there was a small hole in the ground, right below a tree root. After a few moments, the nose of a vole popped out of the hole, twitched a few times and then revealed a scrawny, but fairly large vole scuttling out of the hole and towards a large clump of grass.

Once the creature stopped moving, he prepared to pounce on it, but then small little squeaks caught his attention and three very tiny voles followed the larger one from the hole. His claws slid out and he debated about trying to hunt the animals. If he took the the momma away from the babies, would they have any other vole to care for them? If he took the babies, would they provide any dent in the hunger of the clan? Knowing that the clan needed this food, he decided on the momma first. If he could catch the babies, he would try as well.

Narrowing his sights on the momma vole, he sprung out towards her, completely silent except for the rustling of grass. His paws landed right on top of her and he sunk his claws in quickly. When she was dead, the babies had scampered back to the hole, but he charged quickly, clamping the last one by it's tail and bending down to kill it with a swift bite to it's small throat.

Grabbing the momma and the baby, he carried them back to where the previous two cats had buried their prey and added them in a hole right beside as to not disturb what had already been hidden. Not wanting to be left behind, he caught back up to the group, hoping they would find plenty of more prey to take back to the clan.

| QuailTooth | Medicine Cat | Male (He/Him) | Location: Herb Hunting |

Quailtooth thought about it for a moment. "You have a point. If we could carry them in large leaves or something, that would be much easier..." The tom mumbled, musing over it. "Perhaps if we see something we can use we'll bring it back."

Quailtooth stopped as they came upon the clump of poppies. It was a small group, but once they had been dried, the seeds would be plentiful. He collected them carefully, so as not to rip any of the petals. Once they were in a manage clump, he picked up as many as he could carry in his maw and turned to deposit them by the tansy. With a tail flick, he signaled the she-cat should do the same.

Once the poppies had been deposited, the tom stopped a moment to get the taste out of his mouse so he could taste the air for any nearby herbs.

"Well.. this isn't going too bad. At least there are herbs, though they aren't as plentiful as I would have hoped." The tom sighed.

Daisypaw | Apprentice | Female (she/her) | Apprentice's Den

The milky she-cat tucked tighter into her sleeping curl, her ears pinned, trying to block the noises of the clan out. All she wanted was to be left alone right now.

She still felt like an outcast in the clan, and it showed in her actions and behaviours around other cats.

She knew the sun had risen and she'd have to get up soon, anyway, so she slowly sat up, facing the rocky wall of the apprentice's den. Sighing, Daisypaw stood and slunk past the other apprentices, hugging the side of the hollow structure.

She could see Brightwhisper conversing with Thrushfeather and Lionchaser running up to Graystar's den. The slowly fading scent of other warriors led up to the top of the gorge, suggesting they had gone hunting or patrolling. On top of their trails were the herby smell of Quailtooth and another cat, possibly Nectarheart.

Daisypaw started her day with a stifled yawn and a light stretch before walking over to the little stream within the gorge, lapping up the icy water, forcing herself to wake up fully.

Hawkshade | Warrior | Location: Camp | Mentions: Daisypaw

The large tom shifted awake suddenly, his senses were on high alert and his eyes scanned his surroundings curiously. He calmed slightly when he saw nothing but foliage and the large fallen tree he’d drifted off underneath for the night. He couldn’t bring himself to sleep in the new camp just yet for some reason, but he was nearby enough to hear if any enemies approached under cover of darkness. He stretched lazily and absentmindedly noted the ache in his bones from sleeping in an unfamiliar place. He almost yearned to be home at the lake.

“...the Gorge is home now I suppose,” he muttered to himself as he padded along the riverbed of a small body of water leading into the Gorge. Might as well bring back something useful for Quailtooth and Brightwhisper, he thought before settling on scraping up moss from the wet stones. It almost felt nostalgic when he squeezed out the water from the soft plant, after all this particular chore was usually left to apprentices.

As his mind wandered to his own apprentice he was surprised to see her familiar pale pelt enjoying a morning drink from the stream.

“Daisypaw,” he called out in greeting, his voice muffled by the moss he was carrying in his jaws. He set the moss down as he got closer and cleared his voice, “Good to see you awake. I think you’re the first apprentice out of the den this morning,” he praised, a deep purr lacing his voice. “The early cat catches the prey, as they say,” he added before giving her an affectionate cuff on the ear. “I think my sister’s going to drag them all out of their dens if they’re not awake yet anyway,” he huffed in amusement as he gestured towards Minkfoot who was making a beeline for the apprentice’s den.

Minkfoot | Warrior | Location: Outside Apprentice’s Den | Mentions: Kestralpaw, Adderpaw, Troutpaw

She had laid awake in the warrior’s den for long enough. She’d been unable to sleep ever since sunrise and knew that lying around with her eyes closed was futile but she’d still given it a hopeful shot.

“Maybe if I tire myself out enough today I can sleep like a rock tonight,” she mused. With a sigh she stood and wandered towards the apprentice’s den. While her mind cleared of its morning grogginess she knew her best bet would be to stir up some energetic apprentices. Younger cats were always wanting to get into mischief and today she might just let them.

She stopped outside their den and called out loudly, “Anyone up for some training or are you all still sleeping? Kestralkit, Troutkit, Adderkit!” She teased, hoping to draw out a least a few of the apprentices. She doubted their mentors would mind her lending an extra paw in training, especially since so many warriors were busy helping the clan settle into the new territory.

Daisypaw | Apprentice | Female (she/her) | Location: By The Stream

Daisypaw's fur fluffed only slightly as she heard someone call out her name, but was relieved when she turned her head and saw her mentor, Hawkshade. He was probably the only cat she felt she could trust since joining the clan.

"They were passing pebbles around." She said with a mrowr of amusement, though it was short. She looked at Minkfoot after he gestured, and her tail tip twitched back and forth. The small feline licked the remaining water on her muzzle, her whiskers glistening.

Turning her attention back to her softly-colored mentor, she noticed the moss he'd set down.

"May I ask why you are collecting moss? For the medicine cats, right? I bet Brightwhisper would like that. She is talking to Thrushfeather. Quailtooth has already left to find more herbs with Nectarheart, and a hunting or patrol party has gone out." Daisypaw informed her mentor, holding her chin up slightly, proud of her observations. It was something she was best at, anyway.

"Upon further thought, I believe that the party consisted of Shadowheart, Pebbletail, Beeclaw, and Pumafoot." While she was drinking, she was relaying the scent of the array of cats in her mind and managed to pick them out despite the fading trail. Tracking was one of her specialties, she liked to think, so she was only practicing.

Blinking, Daisypaw returned her icy gaze to the tom, for her eyes had been tracing a circling vulture in the sky, but it had moved on and was barely visible in the sky now. She stood up, alert, awaiting his response(s).
