The figure was small and not clad in the overbearing garments and armor of guards but neither did the robes look that akin to those who wore matching uniforms at the academy. Thus, a closer examination wielded the elf prince the knowledge that the heir of Regnum had come outside. His pacing seemed a little happier than before but Kieran did not know what became of the information the two had spoken about. Had the younger prince spoken to his father about what Kieran had said or was there another reason for the other's happy-go-lucky persona that he had not known since the pair had met? Teeth clenching slightly Kieran's taller frame pushed forward to intercept the lion prince. A sharp brow lifting as he spoke.

"Are you stalking me now or is it fate that we seem to be bumping into each other so much? I'm sure the stronghold is not that small," he commented in ways of greeting as he stood beside one of the archways.

"You seem to be in a much happier mood than before; does that mean you believe there may be a breakthrough with what we discussed before?" he added scanning his face intently for any signs of truth or lie.

It was very important and rather urgent that Kieran figure out the leaning of decision-making on what was being discussed. He was tired of sitting on the sidelines awaiting judgment like everyone else. He was tired of not being heard. But right now he had to play his cards right; if he could befriend or at least get the Regnum heir on his side or on friendly terms their kingdom may have some slim chance of surviving the two kings' wrath.  Glancing away to not intimidate the other Kieran tried to relax his frame from the military straightness he was used to and looked up at the sky judging the height of the sun. It would not be long until the hour was over and the two sides would have to go back to debating. If the nations could not come to an agreement today they still had a total of 2 days out of the 3 they were deemed to be here. It usually was a 3-day trip full of conflict and debating of the kingdoms whenever a meeting of this caliber had to be summoned. Day 1 was almost over for them which left Kieran and Ori 2 more to figure out how to make their arguments heard and considered. But he needed to know what Ori was up to. They were still enemies still after all even if the younger prince seemed so naive.

The bluster he seemed to possess came out of the trained knowledge and entitlement that he grew up with. He did not seem to go outside the walls of his castle unlike Kieran so he may not fully know the extent that his people were living. The elven prince was a war strategist and cunning in ways his older brother was not and Ori on the other hand seemed like a smart boy despite his sheltered living. The pair could make a good duo if they were allowed an audience to discuss the matters of war.

When he approached Ori, he subconsciously bit the inside of his mouth in an effort to conceal any negative emotions. His burnt tail attached to his body barely swayed but it did flicker with repress unease occasionally. He wouldn't allow himself to doubt his father or kingdom again.

The casual nature of the taller man's word would almost bring a grimace to his flawless features. No one talked to him in such a way, there was always formalities. Ori was aware that this man was rough around the edges, he was a warrior before a diplomat. His cheerful demeanour subsided for the time being.

Ori searched his mind for a brief moment to recall what he was referring to before responding. "Regnum Caelorum's cause is just. In order for us and our people to continue thriving, we must expand to accommodate. Everyone must have shelter, food, the comforts of home and a good life." He relayed the words his father had told him. Ori wasn't too fussed with other lives outside the ones of his concern, much like how his whole life was sheltered behind the kingdom walls. He'd been taught this way under Solar's guidance of course. Other court members held care in their hearts for other living beings.

He could see it in the way Ori's posture held and the way his eyes looked so distant. Like they were strangers; that the so-called talk that he was supposed to have got turned around or turned down. They were strangers of course but Kieran had hoped that the briefest of common ground the pair shared for a short moment meant something to make ripples in the works for a better future. He could see now that it backfired rather easily. His jaw clenched and he himself withdrew from the laid-back mannerisms he moments ago possessed in favor of being a little more diplomatic approach. Clearing his throat he looked down at the other and chose his words carefully.

"I see that we did not get some sort of resolution for either of our causes," he stated looking a little bit distasteful. "I had hoped that you would have talked it out with your king to sway for a peace treaty but I see history will repeat itself once more." he looked a little angry as much as he did in disappointment.

A bell began to ring then; like a long echoing chime once after another from the tall tower above them somewhere beyond on another part of the stronghold estate to ring in the last hour for rest. Kieran's blue eyes folded closed a moment as he allowed himself to gather whatever sense and strength he had left. Before he could speak though a member of the stronghold; one of their guards for the estate came walking over and bowed in respect to the pair of them.

"Forgive my interruption your highnesses but your presence has been requested inside the debate room by the respected parties. If you would follow me please." he straightened up and turned without waiting for a reply to bring them to the courtroom.

Kieran's eyes lit up a little bit in concern; this was a change of pace. He of all people never went into the room for the hearings unless his presence was needed to keep a level head for his side of the group or disperse them if it got too heated. He had never had his presence requested to stay in the duration of the meeting and he felt his gut wrench a little bit at the thought of why. Furthermore, why did Ori need to be there as well? He did not seem to be the kind to need his presence within such a place unless it was for a learning purpose like they were for Rhys. He had a bad feeling about this. Without looking at Ori he straightened his spine and followed the guard with a stoic face while his pale eyes filled with a storm brewing. Once back in the familiar hallway he met up with his father and brother who looked a little tenser than normal while the Kesal king refused to even look at his second son and instead waited for the doors to be opened while the Regnum Caelorum followed suit as they gathered inside the room. Kieran took his place standing behind his father and brother like before but a servant of the stronghold pulled up a chair to sit behind them where they sat on the bench. Kieran wished for some sort of hint from his father or brother of what was going on but he was ignored.

Ori peered up at him, not shrinking away in fear as he'd done before. He had no reason to fear, as long as there was something familiar nearby he knew he was safe. That being his father, the court members and the guards. The stronghold and people of Kesal were foreign to him.

Peace or war, it didn't matter. Nothing outside had effected Ori so far, his people didn't plead for a cease fire of any kind. They were so devoted to their gods that they would gladly lay their lives down, their gods didn't play a hand in their admiration but didn't scold it either. The court would make sure the land was theirs and prosperous, the rest was up to the people. Like ants in an ant farm.

The young heir wasn't given time to process and respond, loud echoing bells chiming from somewhere close but distant

An invitation into the meeting was unusual, these kinds of things didn't concern Ori yet. He was the youngest court member and an adult, there were many other more capable and strong to carry their kingdom. He followed with prince Kieran, walking beside the taller man. What kind of matters did concern him? It dawned on him that maybe his involvement was needed in Regnum Caelorum's next move. This would hopefully be his first chance to improve his worth to his father. All those years of learning and training could not go to waste at such an important time. Instead of hiding behind his father or another court member, there was a seat just for him right next to his father and Hushy. He kept his expression still but his heart was filling with excitement.

"Shall we resume?" Solar inquired, clearly having an agenda he was planning to follow. There was a determined glint in his eyes, one that was familiar to Ori.

He did not share the sentiment. His blue eyes watched the scene unfold around him; scanning the faces of the opposing kingdom's royalty and officials much like he did his own to figure out what could be the issue. He was not particularly known for being among the debating courtroom on any other occasion other than to be summoned to make a brief interlude for the guests. He was the polite face of Kesal if nothing else. Did his father think his presence was needed because he thought a cooler head was needed to help everyone calm? Heh, just the idea made him picture the moon against the sun as he watched his father's expressionless and cold face that held regal mannerisms with his sharp clean features while the Regnum Caelorum seemed as bright and deadly as the sun's solar flares. I would only be a matter of time until one or the other won out. Every night comes the day but the day will always bow to the moon at the end of it's cycle. That is how the kingdoms always have been. It was natural but unneeded in these times. Kieran wished he had read a little more into the Regnum's history and traditions so that he could help more but his father had always sent him away to do something else or another involving battles or training.

Keeping his face neutral and returning his gaze to the opposing side he crossed one leg over the other to get comfortable and leaned back into the chair's high back rise. This would take a while; he only wished he'd eaten before now because he just knew at the end of the day he would be famished. All he could do was wait for the discussion and arguing to continue and keep an eye and ear out for any trouble.

"I believe it was your turn to speak on the matter." Kieran's father replied cooly and folded his hands in his lap; on anyone else it would have looked demure and feminine but on the king of the Kesal kingdom it looked like a panther ready to pounce if the look in his cold eyes said anything.

"I see. During the breif intermission, the present court members of Regnum Caelorum have discussed a rather interesting idea, or suggestion." There was a serious tone to his voice, but the way the corner of his mouth were slightly turned upwards showed that he was proud or intrigued in pursuing whatever was going on in his mind.

Ori listened closely, eagerly awaiting what his father had on his mind. He hadn't been present for when this idea was being talked about, despite the fact he too was a court member. There were a number of things it could be, a final battle between kings, an exchange of land to satisfy both parties, maybe even building a wall between the two kingdoms.

"If I may propose it to you, we're stuck at a standstill and I doubt anything that's suggested is too outlandish." Solar continued. Hushy and Sage shared a certain look with each other, communicating in a way only a master and appreciate could understand. They knew what their king was talking about, Hushy had been putting their two cents in when Ori had entered the Regnum Caelorum's designated quarters earlier.

The Kesal kingdom was known for being reserved but not unwelcoming to others; other nations perhaps thought they were a bit standoffish because they were careful but had a grip like iron during times of war. King Eldrin had ruled the kingdom of Kesal for many decades despite his youthful appearance often mistook him as the brother of Rhys and Kieran. He was cold and calculating even still when he sat there staring at the golden glow of the Regnum Caelorum nation. So when Solar finally spoke with a beat around the bush description for a proposal he couldn't help the slight twitch of a wry and unamused smile to tug at his features that pulled at his face in a pinch as if he was tasting something sour but he did not speak until Solar was finished.

Kieran glanced between the two and noticed his father's reaction. Wanting to roll his own eyes at his father's behavior. He was acting not better entitled and stuck up as Solar's people did but the second prince kept his mouth shut and kept his ears open to what the sun king was speaking about. What kind of proposal did he think he could even lay down on the table?

"Outlandish would imply that anything is up for the proposal. But I see your point, everything we have discussed thus far has not been too appealing on the ears of either of our nations. But please, do tell what kind of outlandish idea you may have that you have yet to throw onto the table." Eldrin replied unable to keep the sneer from his voice

Kieran's lips twitched in distaste; no wonder his father couldn't get anything solid in an argument. He was being so disrespectful. The least he could do was pretend if nothing else but apparently his father was sick of the debates as much as everyone else and no pretense left for likes or dislikes.

Solar was aware that his less than direct approach to the subject was getting on the other's nerves. Both were stubborn and saw each other as irritating or a stick in the mud. It was calling the kettle black, so similar and couldn't get along. Just like the sun and moon.

"If I'm not mistaken, at least one of your children are not betrothed." Ori glanced to his father, he didn't understand what this subject had to do with anything. Marriage of the princes would be under Kesal's personal affairs, not the Sun king's catlike curiosity. He wanted to see where this was going since he didn't doubt that this was just an entrance into something bigger.

"I only have one son, which I suppose means I'm fortunate enough to undergo the stress of this occurrence once."  Solar let out a quiet laugh. "Thus, this makes me offer all that more special. We have difficulties meeting each other in the middle, building bridges and bonds? Then why not have a child of Regnum Caelorum and a child of Kesal form a bond to fulfil that divide."

Ori's eyes widened before he could get his reaction under control, tail becoming stiff. His father was known for joke around sometimes, he hoped this was one of those times. His potential was worth so much more than being married off, he had assumed and hoped he'd he given a special title just like all of the other court members. His father was the sun, Hushy master of time, Sage lord of magic. It was a ceremony where he'd officially become apart of the Regnum Caelorum court.

Eldrin blinked taking in the other in silence. Had he heard him correctly? He was proposing an actual proposal to unite the kingdoms? The nations were as opposite as could be. Hot and cold, sun and moon, fire and ice. A union of the nations would surely result in disaster, wouldn't it? Kieran looked over at Rhys to see his brother's expression. It didn't hide the look of surprise on it. There was also something akin to an expression that spoke volumes 'Is he serious?'

When Eldrin said nothing for the longest time Kieran had to reach over to place a hand on his father's shoulder as if to prompt him to speak which resulted in his father's brush-off as he turned his attention back to the conversation.

"That is a wild proposition Solar." Eldrin finally spoke up. "On any other occasion with any other nation that would have been a plausible idea to lay down on the table. But if you are aware, you may only have one son to bear your name but I have three sons." he put more emphasis on 'sons'.

Kieran knew his father wasn't being obvious for the sake of it. In Kesal's tradition there had never been a time in history that a same-gender marriage had ever been deemed as a blessing. Peasants, of course, could do as they pleased but in the royal walls of Kesal castle there had never been the same marriage union to rule; that much was clear and the very idea of sun and moon joining in matrimony sent Kieran's mind into a spin. It was not as if Kieran himself opposed the idea of a same-gender relationship beyond friendship and bonds of comradery but he was quick and careful to hide his preferences away from his father's gaze and ears. The only one who did know if this was Rhys if the sweat on his brow said anything by it as their father continued.

"It is not in our custom to allow such marriages, you see Solar." Eldrin stated coldly before his sharp gaze turned to Ori like a cold blade before turning his attention back to the other's father. "If I were to say I entertain that ludicrous idea of yours. I fear that I could be coming up short. You see my eldest must stick with tradition as he will one day rule my throne when I am gone; our laws are firm and put in place for centuries. He himself is aligned with another in the making upon taking the throne and alas my youngest is far too young for your son and betrothed as well to the princess of the east's kingdom."

Kieran noted that he had not even spoken about Kieran in between and he wondered if he would. Did he think he would agree to this? A look at the corner of his eye at Kieran made the young man freeze and felt his heart began to hammer as the pair stared into identical eyes for what felt like eternity.

"My second eldest, Kieran." Eldrin held his hand out in said elf's direction. "Is my commanding officer in my armies. His presence is crucial to my kingdom. He is the only one of my three sons who does not have a path to follow beyond his military endeavors. I do not see how a marriage; if I were to humor this idea. Would benefit either of us if there was a wedding."

Kieran felt a little droplet of sweat roll down the back of his neck like an ice cube as his teeth clenched a little; he refused to even look at the Regnum Caelorum side as he leaned over to whisper to his father in earnest. "You cannot be even considering the idea father. It's not of our-"

"Did you want peace or not Kieran?!" Eldrin boomed not even caring to be quiet as he jerked his head towards his son. "You claim you want peace and you tire of fighting meaningless wars? Well, perhaps you can be useful in another way that holds to your 'peaceful' values." Kieran swallowed thickly and turned his attention to Solar.

He wanted to ask what the nations got from this union. Would it be worth throwing his life away to marry their enemy? Had he not begged and pleaded as best he could to try and change the ways of war to stop the endless bloodshed? He needed his people to be safe and flourish but what could marry the son of a stuck-up king who didn't care about anyone else ever do for Kieran's people?

"I do not see the profit that would come from this arrangement. You clearly do not care for the people outside of your own kingdom so why even dare suggest such a proposal that would have to force you to involve the nation of your enemy into your folds?" he asked trying to keep his voice from quivering in a panic. This was not what he had thought of when he meant peace.

In Regnum Caelorum there was no such rules or laws that were against marriage between two men or two women. It wasn't even limited to a marriages between just two people. Some court members had taken on lovers, both inside their circle and outside. Solar, the court and the people all had bigger things to worry about than safe and consensual love. Solar had even had a male lover at some point from outside the court, a lowly son of an inventor. Of course loving the sun had ultimately led to his downfall.

"Our Sunling is young and has the ability to look further forward than any of our old eyes can. Your middle child seeks peace, I assume he has that ability too." Hushy calmly explained, tone devoid of emotions. "Regnum Caelorum already recognises Kesal as a formidable foe, an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object means we've been at a stand still for many years."

There was no suggestion of either side just kneeling to the other. Regnum Caelorum wanted to take Kesal land for their own and Kesal would defend till the end. If it wasn't Kesal, then another kingdom would fall. Solar had made sure of that happening a few times in his own reign.

Solar allowed Hushy speak as he pondered his next words. "These kinds of arrangements are more simple if one party was female, but the benefits would be one-sided. With a tie to Kesal, we'd leave the land alone out of respect for our heir's union. In a way, this initially benefits you more then us. My son could marry someone from another kingdom and form an alliance against Kesal." He said. Marrying a Regnum Caelorum court member was seen as a high honour, even simply laying your eyes on a member was one.

Ori wasn't sure what words to get out of his mouth, he hadn't learnt how to reject his father offering him up for a marriage. The notion hadn't ever crossed his mind. He knew that it was an important duty but his own expectations of himself seemed lacking, like the wasted potential he didn't ever want to be.
