Well, that didn't go as intended. Had he expected anything else though? Kieran's charm seemed to not even reach Ori to soften his expression or even slip up to feel a little less tense. How far was that stick up there Regnum people's arses? His hand dropped and he blinked at him a moment.

"Okay, well. That's...nice." he fumbled for words, glanced over his shoulder at his snickering brother, and shot him a glare as if to tell him to knock it off.

Would Ori eventually open up to Kieran or at least break down that high wall he built? He did not know much about the man so who knew what he had endured or been told to ensure he acted a certain way. Kieran knew about manipulation when it came to royalty. Royal courts were nothing but a chess board and no one who stepped into said chess board was immune to being played like a chess piece.

"Well, I'd like to say it's nice to meet you but I feel as if this is a very sore topic." he commented to break the silence. "I'm glad you seem to be interested beyond the walls of your kingdom when it comes to learning things. That'll make things a little easier on me when we are meant to be bonding over something." he laughed awkwardly.

Seriously, all he really wanted was just to get along and make some sort of effort into making the future better even if that meant there was only tolerance for each other's presence. Kieran never really thought he'd fall in love or get married but welp married was sort of forced on them both here and he wanted to make the best of it. Bored Elves become maniac elves and that meant trouble for everyone so he only hoped Ori was more interesting than he let himself to the public.

"In that case. I bid you farewell, enjoy your night and we will see each other tomorrow then." Rhys took that cue to slip from the room in relief. Kieran looked over at Ori once more time before he headed for the door seeing as the sun heir did not wish to speak with him any further; he could pick up on those hints.

He didn't know what bonding would entitle, forming a friendship while married? Surely married couples didn't do that, not like he knew. When he eventually returned home, he'd have to attempt to get himself informed on the matter of what married couples did.

Relationships were complicated and complex, Ori never had many to begin with. People he'd know since birth had pretty much stayed in his life, court members were unlikely to pass away due to all the time and effort put into making sure of that.

His eyes would focus on prince Kieran as he left, locking onto him in a way with a slightly softer expression. He didn't exactly understand what he had done to put him off from conversing with him, despite the fact that his mannerism was stand-offish and body language closed off. When the man turned back, Ori quickly turned away to avoid being caught. He wasn't guilty of doing anything, he hadn't been requested to not stare. The tail attached to his body swayed from side to side quickly, giving away his worrisome emotions.

The next time they'd speak, he hoped that he would understand and know more. There was a feeling crawling into his body, like a toxin slowly spreading through him, that he was lagging behind. It was a feeling of self-doubt of worthlessness, one that had been brewing for most of his life. Ori would let him leave instead of attempting to strike up more conversation.

Sleep did not come for many hours for the second prince after he had returned to his chambers. As the sun rose he was grateful to know that there would be no more heated debates about the new arrangement. A part of him wondered if he could seek Ori out to try and spend time with him on their day off or if he should wait until they were on their trail to try to bond or whatever. His father had not left his chambers and Rhys had chosen his morning to explore the grounds. Kieran on the other hand sought out something to wake him up. Breakfast would be good for starters. Stretching the male dressed from his sleepwear into a more casual outfit that was almost black in color; more of the darkest navy with silver embroidery on the silk and his boots. His short hair had been freshly washed earlier before he dressed and was back in its usual manner of being brushed back from his face except he went without the gel so the gentle breeze of the morning tickled his hair and lifted it from its usually gelled placement giving him a bit more of a laid back and boyish look to him instead of the polished nobleman he was.

He did not see many of the other officials around but he didn't expect as much. They all were sticklers who wanted to keep their nose to book and discuss matters instead of enjoying their day off. Kieran on the other hand strode down the hallways in search of the banquet hall where an outspread breakfast was laid out for the nobles and officials that came with the nation's kings. He was happy to see that no one was in there as he didn't feel like a conversation. Most of them probably were either still asleep or had requested their plates of food to be sent to their rooms. That mattered not for Kieran. He contently grabbed a plate and began piling it high with array of fruits, breakfast bread loafs and a few links of breakfast meats. His father would probably have a cow if he saw Kieran eating meat. It wasn't that elves were vegetarian but most preferred the comfort of veggies and fish if anything instead of things such as boar, cow, or poultry like other people. Kieran didn't understand that custom of his people but he guessed it had something to do with keeping a youthful body. For someone like Kieran who burned a lot of calories and sweats with working out so much in training as a general of an army, he had learned not to be picky with food and enjoyed a good roast or chicken legs to keep his strength and gain muscle.

Taking his plate he plopped his butt on the edge of a window ledge the second prince held the plate in one hand and picked at his food with the other as he stared out at the courtyard below as he chewed thoughtfully deep in thought. He liked the silence and the peace of it all. That was until the banquet doors opened and a figure emerged. Blinking his eyes still tired his gaze lazily swept the room until Kieran's pale eyes caught the figure's but he did not utter a greeting but instead gave a small nod of a silent good morning and returned his gaze to the window and the view below as he continued eating.

Falling asleep was easy for Ori, but today in particular had proven difficult. He had spent the night tossing and turning, confused and frustrated as the minutes ticked by and he was still awake. Some books had been brought with the court to the stronghold, most were ones Ori's father had selected but a few were ones that Sage suggested the young heir at least give a try. It was fiction, a genre that he didn't read much of if at all. What wasn't real didn't offer much help to him in his mind. But there he was, awake at night in his chambers reading a book about fictional things that was written for young adults.

When morning came, he awoke to the book still open and discarded to his side. He likely passed out misread, the fatigue from the day finally catching up to him. He'd untied his hair when going to bed but now it was a silvery mess of medium length locks. The colour of his hair was difficult to put a label on. It was an off white, or a silver mixed with gold, platinum blond maybe? It was light, much like the rest of Ori.

He hastily got up, sleeping in wasn't a good image for the court of his kingdom. Brushing any imperfections from his hair, he was too tired and forgetful to spend the time to tie it up or push his fringe back or brush the tuft of his tail. At least the two strands of hair on either side of his head were down. Ori put on his attire for the day, it was a little less formal than what he had worn the day before. Gold, silver and white were still the colour scheme. His bandages would stay firm on his body to hide the charred flesh, his only flaw.

"You're up later than usual, care for a stroll?" Sage greeted him as soon as he left the room, surprising him. Ori accepted almost instinctively, this court member was someone he could be a little relaxed around because he wasn't as old as Hushy or his father. Sage was from the stronghold too. Together they headed to the courtyard, Sage doing most of the chatting as the younger man got lost in his own mind. He had to pull himself together, a little unexpected turn couldn't completely rattle him.

Noticing his lack of attention, the former stronghold mage would take ahold of Ori's hands to pull it hack to him. "Just between us, what are your thoughts on the second son? This isn't idle gossip, just an exchange of options." Sage would subtly wink to Ori as he spoke quietly, lest an unwanted ear overhear their words.

Two figures appeared strolling together into the courtyard and from the keenness of his eyes caught sight of the familiar color scheme making him huff a little bit. He wasn't surprised that the Regnum would rise with the sun. Tiredness still made his eyeballs ache and he raised his free hand to rub them before continuing his meal. He hummed watching everyone below wondering if he should go join the Regnum people below. They would not approve or appreciate his presence among them but they would have to get used to it after all; the marriage and all was already a done deal without the actual ceremony. It was agreed upon but the contract was not fully written out nor the ceremony making it official to the public eye. But to Kieran it was still a sure thing and they would have to get used to the tall dark elf in their folds.

Pressing his forehead against the cold glass of the windowpane for a moment wondering if there would ever be true peace between the kingdoms. Tolerence was more like it but if the people did not mingle nor have an open mind to the traditions of each other's nations there would never truly be peace. A decree could be pronounced in the streets but like ever law someone would break it and a riot could break out killing each other because the people did not agree upon the treaty. It made Kieran nervous to think about and wondering if the union would be better or worse for their people.

His silvery gaze turned back to those below and he frowned catching sight of a pair of Regnums below. A closer look made him realize that it was Ori. His hair was different than those of the others so easily enough distinguishable. His jaw clenched a little as the too-familiar touch of the other made him narrow his eyes. Did Ori already have a lover? Or someone he was interested in? That would make things a little more complicated when it came to working with each other when they were officially married to each other. Of course, it was not unheard of for the kings of nations to take on mistresses so it would be the same for Ori if his heart truly was someone else's? Straightening up he placed his plate on the table as he strode down and headed for the courtyard before he could stop himself. He was curious if anything and could use the excuse of needing some air or just passing through if he was caught near the conversations.

"You're referring to prince Kieran of Kesal, correct?" Ori asked for confirmation and was given a quick nod, curious mismatched green and bronze eyes peering down at him. "I hope you don't expect me to speak of love and fondness so you may have something to swoon over." He'd tsk at the other court member's antics. Sage hadn't grown up within the castle walls of Gods, he didn't have that same trained and taught edge of authority that demanded worship and respect. He was seen more as a human who'd ascended to the Heavens, personally selected by Hushy to be their predecessor.

"I rather look forward to his visit, the uncouth is easy on the eyes." Sage said the words that Ori had thought the previous day, of course in a more casual way. The shorter male pulled his hands away bashfully as Sage's face broke into a bigger grin and an amused snicker at his reaction. His lion-like tail was lashing back and forth, embarrassment increasing. Both of them could be childish at times, maybe it came with their youth.

Even though he agreed with him, he still scolded him. "Good looks are worth nothing without a personality to match, don't be so shallow." Sage wasn't all that phased or intimidated by Ori, he wasn't a force to be reckoned with like Solar or the king of Kesal were. Those were people not to get on the bad side of, if the wrath of the war wasn't already a reference.

Sage's gaze caught sight of the man they were both chattering about before Ori did, figuring he could use the moment to his advantage. "I'm right, am I not your highness? Prince Kieran is an attractive young man." He wasn't mocking the sunling with the title, not this time at least. "In an obvious way, perhaps. If he's as well-read as he makes himself seem than maybe even more so." He was still straining to answer his fellow court member. He knew that his secrets would be safe with Sage but there were a lot of eyes and ears around. Being caught fawning over a man he just met, how deplorable.

He walked without many purposes, or he at least attempted to seem as if he were going on a stroll. Really he was just curious to see what was going on below from where he had been watching from above through the window. He caught sight of the lion prince with one of the younger men Kieran had seen among the officials in the debate. That nagging thought at the back of his head wondering if they were secret lovers or something. He wanted to go out and ask bluntly just so he knew what was going to be expected when they finally make the marriage official but Kieran did not often just come out and bluntly say things to those, not of his court. If this was the only way to chance a treaty for their people he needed to play it safe. He needed to keep face since he wasn't quite sure if Ori's father had more than just a peace treaty on his mind.

Walking through the walkways once outside in the courtyard Kieran had a chance to look around; there were not many people out but there were a few. Some people from the stronghold academy while a few stragglers came from the nations. It seemed like a relatively peaceful setting all things concerned so Kieran was glad to allow himself to relax a moment in the shadows before he made his presence known. He strode from the shadows and began walking along the path looking at the statues and greenery around. The courtyard was not what most people would think; you'd think it is some sort of training grounds maybe that did not hold much value in space but in fact, it had a nice fountain in the middle with statues and flower bushes scattered around the pace. It could have once been a garden of sorts or at least loosely be called one here. It was a place where the apprentices would come to meditate or read a book on one of the benches lining the place. Kieran found it kind of adorable with its mixtures.

The tall elf finally made his rounds around the place pausing every once in a while to look at a statue or a flower until he was near enough to the Regnum prince and his companion to be noticed as he neared. He pretended not to notice them as he walked closer examining yet another flower and paused to reach out and touch it's soft petals but in fact as he acted as if his attention his elsewhere those keen sharp pointy elf ears were tuned in to catching what was being said

"That's a yes then." Sage said, closing his eyes for a moment. It'd taken him awhile to understand all the big and arrogant way of speech that those from Regnum Caelorum had. Their own language was even harder to understand especially since it wasn't his native tongue.

He then gestured behind Ori towards the Kesal king second heir who'd made his appearance. Ori turned to look at his arranged partner, observing the flowers and whatnot. They were nice, but he doubted someone like him actually was intrigued by them.

Although he'd made it a mental note to be more knowledgeable about the other, his curiosity for the fiction genre had caused him to forget. It was shameful that leisure had outweighed the importance of royal affairs. Prince Kieran had been carrying a familiar poetry book upon their first interaction, it would be somewhat comforting to know he wasn't the only one who could be distracted.

"Prince Kieran of Kesal, sorry to bother you on this lovely morning. Could you settle a discussion me and Ori were having?" Sage somewhat called out to the dark elf, his tone polite and trying to avoid speaking in a casual manner.

He had expected more gossip; perhaps finding something interesting to listen to. A part of him was a little ashamed to think he would stoop so low as to find gossip to entertain himself; he could just speak with them but he'd come to find that outright addressing Ori never brought any sort of truth to the conversation. So, he was much surprised but pleased when Sage piped up upon seeing him behind them. Addressing him politely making the elf turn his head from where he was observing the flower. It wasn't as if the flower was that interesting but he did find it pretty. Straightening up his posture a little from where it had been slightly slouched over to have a closer look at the flower he turned his frame towards the pair with a raised brow as he glanced between the two.

"There is no bother at all." he replied as he made his way over so that they didn't have to be calling out across the way from each other and took his place in front of them. Hands clasped lightly behind him as his gaze flickered between the two.

"What is it that you are having a disagreement on pray tell?" there was a twitch of his lips in a small amused smile. Now that he studied the two up close he hadn't realized that Sage looked much different from Ori and the other people of the Regnum Caelorum kingdom making him wonder if he was born there or not.

If the answer was no well....that gave Kieran hope that perhaps not all hope was lost when it came with dealing with the Regnum nation. Perhaps they were not as stuck up and closed off to other people than they liked to show people. Again, there was no truth in speculation but now was not the time to ask or comment on it and instead he gave them his attention looking curious as to what they could be talking about that had them at odds with each other.

Ori was quiet, subtly studying Kieran. His hair wasn't as pushed back as the day before, but neither was Ori's. No formal meetings or events meant everyone could slack a little bit with their appearances, Regnum Caelorum court members normally wouldn't. Having so much weight and expectations on their shoulders meany they had to always be perfect beings. Their people would never judge their appearance if it wasn't refined, like a blind love.

"Attraction. Everyone has their own personal preferences when seeking a partner, he says that a pretty face is worthless without a personality to match. A man such of yourself could relate?" Sage explained, testing Kieran in a way. By implying he was attractive, he wanted to see in what way he would take the compliment. A humble response would mean his personality was good and with Ori being present he could get a confirmation on his thoughts. Two birds with one stone.

"You're not entitled to give that comment any kind of response. Sage has uncouth ways." Ori said as the man his irritated words were directed at had taken ahold of his tail and began brushing out any knots from the fur or hair at the end of it. Ori visibly tensed but didn't pull away, he didn't mean any harm was just too casual with people.
