As he spoke, the Sunling crossed his arms. Doing good for no reason was a concept more out of reach than he thought it was. He was probably too logical to understand why someone would do something while expecting nothing in return. No reward, no gratitude, not even acknowledgment. His life had always had a purpose and a goal, it was an understandable structure.

He knew about overconsumption and the sins of mankind. Not just mankind, any being with a higher level of cognitive function was capable of it. Trickery, anarchy, murdering of your own kind. Although he had not witnessed it with his own eyes, he'd been taught pieces of the history from members of his court who's experienced it. Sometimes, they sounded like they hated mortal beings. The same people who worshipped them. It confused Ori, all the negative emotions that were trying to wedge their way into him. It was impossible that Regnum Caelorum was like that, Solar's wars were to take land for the people and make sure it remain safe. If the people fight and steal amongst themselves then that was their business only. What they did with the land was up to them.

But if he ever had a glimpse through the eyes of an outsider, he'd see how much it didn't make sense. The loopholes, the way one thing could he countered by another. It was similar to too many roads crossing through one place. The people are free, don't associate with the people, court members aren't to 'own' other living beings, the Sunling isn't to be touched. The shadow Solar had casted was long and dark.

He hesitantly tailed behind Kieran as he moved up the flight of stairs. "I understand, these beings should never be underminded." He responded, becoming light on his feet once again. The darkness that awaited in the room took a bit to adjust to. The faint glow to his hair was muted in such black pitch, overwhelmed by it but his eyes managed to survive through it. Barely, a lone glow worm would be seen better.

At Kieran's instruction he stilled, tail not daring to flick in anticipation. He wasn't sure what they were meant to be waiting on but would do so anyways. This was not his realm of knowledge, he could barely see to know.  He tensed at one of his bandaged arms being grasped.

'Doaldreontas' was not a word he'd seen or read before. Ori knew that not every text would be in the library of his homeland, a lot was but not everything. The gaps had to be filled with real life encounters. With each blink the unlit room became easier to view. He wondered what the creature's natural prey was, if it was cold blooded or warm blooded, were they as rare as the forest stag? Kieran's presence lowered and he realised that he was bowing to the creature. He'd already been told that she was sentient and not fond of strangers. It was relatable. He slowly lowered his torso to bow, finding it hard to pull his eyes away and lower his head too.

To say Keiran was anxious was an understatement. It took many years for the elfling to get the creature comfortable even with those of his kin. The servants who fed their stock of mounts always pulled the short straw system to see who would be forced to enter her domain but whenever Keiran was back within the grounds he took up primary care of her for the most obvious reasons so the stable hands were always happy to see the prince. But the elf general had not once brought a stranger up here before. Too fearful that perhaps his mount would reject them and seek to harm. As intelligent as she was Payndias was still much a feral creature who lived off of her instincts as much as her intelligence.

The initial introduction of bowing usually did not last this long and Keiran had to glance over at Ori to make sure he was not somehow insulting the creature unknowingly. When he heard the familiar sound that resembled a mixture of a click and purr he allowed his posture to relax and he let go of the princeling before rising to his feet. "Come on then, let's introduce you two." he offered a little more relaxed now as he sought out the creature whose posture too had relaxed a bit.

Her wings tucked back at her sides and she stood straight up watching them with keen eyes but did not make the first move.  The elf moved towards her and reached out to place a hand on her nose with a fond smile before he rested his forehead against hers in a seemingly traditional greeting between the pair before he was turning towards the sunling with a bit of a smile on his face.

"As I stated her kind is pretty rare to see and they hardly ever leave their mountains but with my bonded to her she chose to come down to our level. I try to make her as comfortable as I can but I know it's not the same so I try to take her out for a ride. I was meant to take her out the past few days but um...obviously that didn't happen." his smile grew a little crooked - a little boyish in his features as his hand stroked along the creature's smooth neck. "Would you like to come say hello? Just let her sniff you first before trying to touch her." he advised.

He took a step away to allow the pair room to introduce each other. Standing close by in case Payndias reacted badly but otherwise gave them space. This was a big step for Keiran because despite the situation of their betrothal Keiran truly did want Ori to understand the Dark Elves a little better - to understand him a bit better if they were to be wed. The Doaldreonta was a big part of Keiran as she had been the reason for his survival on the battlefield far too many times and his constant companion.

"I'm sure you may know about Familiars. The Droaldreonta aren't exactly familiars but those extreme few who do exist to know one of these often call them as their Familiars of sorts. They aren't exactly magical creatures that can be used to empower you but more neutrally to keep the balance of the mana and energy around." Keiran explained as he watched the dragon-like creature lower its head to sniff almost curiously at the golden boy before her

"Would you like to take her out for a ride?" he suddenly asked walking over and placing a hand on the creature's nose. "Don't worry about her spikes." he grinned as he reached over to grab one of the spikes on her spine. "They're flexible and fold to allow a rider." he pushed it down a bit and smoothed his hand down the expense of her back - her seemingly threatening spines folding like a trail of cards. "Or I can find you an actual horse to ride."

He rose back up to his full height. Not as tall as Kieran but still holding himself high. Gold eyes behind light lashes kept glancing between the elf prince and his mount. He was already learning.

Ori was surprisingly uncertain about getting near. His lack of knowledge of this creature made him uneasy, yet he still forced himself to do so. He reached out a cloth wrapped hand with the intention to allow Payndias to inspect. The bandages were always clean and neat, tightly wrapped around his skin so that they would not become a loose hindrance.

"How do they keep magical energies balanced? Are they an apex predator in their habitat's ecosystem?" He asked, allowing his curiosity to relax him. Some beings contained more energy than others, some contained none. Unicorn horns had a high concentration of mana, hence their value. Dogs and cats were capable of harbouring more energy with magical bonds or pretty much any living being. A human being could become a familiar. Not that Ori understood the benefits to that.

Kieran's offer put him off and it initially showed on his face the concern for going on a stroll. He was quick to relax his expression, lest he offend the other prince or his companion. "Perhaps another time, a mount of my own will suffice." He politely declined. Once he'd learnt more, he'd become more comfortable with the idea.

The bond that the two had wasn't something he could relate to on the personal note. He did not have a companion, familiar or mount of his own. That kind of connection was yet to be formed with any being, although he had a subconscious lean towards winged things. He was sure that his father's mount was a feline-like creature with wings.

Keiran was content that at least nothing bad has happened yet. He watched as the other prince attempted introductions and that the dragon-like creature was behaving herself. Payndias seemed as curious of the sunling as he of her. She sniffed with loud exhales at the hand extended to her but otherwise did not react. Her eyes almost human watched with intelligence and curiosity as she settled down on the ground seemingly unbothered.

Kieran stayed beside her though and stroked the oddly warm scales; feeling the vibration of almost imperceivable noises she made. When Ori asked about Kieran's comment he looked over at the other and gave a slight thoughtful smile as he leaned his weight against the beast; allowing himself to sink to lean against her side. "It's actually pretty cool and very underrated. You see, Payndias's species are what people may label as filter feeders or higher predators. They don't have magical abilities per say that outwardly affect lives and a visible manner." Keiran explained.

If Ori was paying enough attention he could see the light within Keiran's eyes as he spoke; his movements and words were almost borderline excitable and boyish as if in this very dome away from the eyes and ears of the castle and his father he was a different person. More relatable - not a prince. His lips curled into a slight smile as he was explaining his knowledge about his mount's species; a passion for the way he talked showed his love and interest in the knowledge it held.

"-as I said they are intelligent creatures but they are balancers. They are omni-universal feeders that not only eat both live prey and vegetation but also the mana and negative energies as a source of food. The latter being something rather special in their diet. You see they can be in all rights filter feeders because regardless of what they eat everything has a source of energy and a sense of life about it - the mana of the world that allows us all to live and connect to things and other people. So what they do is when they feed they not only take in the physical aspect of whatever they eat but also the energy. They feed on the negative energies and filter it through themselves and release it back into the air so that the earth and it's creatures may feed off of it. I'll have to show you sometime when it's time for her to feed." he grins rising before stretching himself.

"But I've kept you here long enough; you'll have plenty of time to get to know of my mount later when you stay with us. But you did say you wished for a normal horse so how about we go check out our options? I'm supposed to be taking the stag to release  him. Would you care to join me for that adventure?" he raised a brow in a playful manner.

An uninterested reaction was better than an enthusiastic one. Judging by her anatomy she wasn't a prey animal. He listened to the dark elf's explanation, not using the same terminology but still understanding it. Other regions used other names for certain things. Such as a lever being called a switch or shift stick. Sage used a lot of terminologies that were different to the ones he used, it was due to their somewhat obvious differences in background.

Both of them had a kindred delight for topics. Ori would be interested in any piece of information that came out of his mouth and wouldn't mind listening for hours. Not in the sense that he found his voice nice to listen to, it wasn't half bad, despite being betrothed the romantic connection wasn't there. Their first meeting had been recent and they still had a lot to learn about each other and their respective homelands. Even if the relationship didn't proceed past platonic, the marriage would still be beneficial? Regnum Caelorum and Kesal would be allied in some way and the war could potentially end without a victory soaked in blood.

"Ah, similar to a tree pulling in smog and producing fresh air." Ori exclaimed, it was a simpler way of putting it. The next question that came to mind was in regards to her and dark magic but he held his tongue on asking. A lot of places were not fond of such activities, possibly himself included due to how authors had indirectly put in their negative opinions towards it whenever it was mentioned in a text.

Kieran's latest suggestion sounded a lot safer and he nodded in a meek way, like a child shy to accept a present. "Yes, I shall accompany you on your endeavour to return the forest stag back to his natural environment. Keeping such a being cooped up and away from home would be unnecessary." He seemed glad but it was overshadowed by his wordiness once again. Nervousness was causing him to run his mouth.

It may not have known right away from Keiran was a knowledgeable man by nature when it came to facts and history. As a youngling, he loved reading and often strived to learn all he could to please his father before the days that took him into the hands of war and strategic natures. So the analogy of the tree and smog mentioned didn't go over his head and he was quick to nod in agreement. It was similar in that way if only enough to make Ori understand.

"Well, it's a bit more like she cleans the negativity from the particles of mana and magical energy that she consumes to release it back into the air...just not as fresh air but the analogy is similar yes." he chuckled and petted Payndias's neck. "Alright my girl, I'll return for you tonight and we may take flight among the stars." he rested his forehead against hers briefly before he led the way back toward the dome's doors

"Come on then! Let's get to it before the day ends! We've spent a lot of time out here already and it gets rather dangerous at night." he said thinking of the darkness that claims the land at night. Sure there were stars and a moon that helps light the way but the gleam of the moonlight lanterns do not get lit beyond the gates of Kesal's castle and they would be in sluggish darkness until they returned.

He led the way toward the first floor and headed for a stall at the back. "You may take Ilya. She is one of the more domestic mares we have. My little brother first learned to ride on her so her temperament is sound. Her sure foot will not throw you." he patted the mare's head as it peeked out. "I'll have a stable hand get her ready for you. I'll be just a moment if you'd be so kind to wait by the doors out here." he nodded to the prince before he began striding away in search of the head stablehand to get everything sorted out.

Within a short time, the stable hand had the mare tacked and ready to ride - walking her out to wait by the Sun's prince. A few moments later the clomping sound of hooves came trudging from around the domeshaped building. Keiran rode on his large black stallion he'd been seen riding along with his regiment and in his hand held a long thin silver robe that shimmered in the fading sun - attached to it was the stag.

"Alright, it will take a bit to ride up towards the borders. Do you need help?" Keiran asked hopping off his stallion in favor of coming up to the prince. "You have ridden before right?" he added with a slight concerned frown as he held onto the horse's halter.
