Make It Easier To Get Scars

Make It Easier To Get Scars
Posted 2021-10-13 20:01:53 (edited)
I've gotten 1 scar by myself in my wolvden time. It's easier to get other trophies but scars seem to be hard but are such simple things. They don't need to be rare.

Not as rare as other trophies in my opinion atleast.
I know if you fight bigger/more leveled animals you could get one but I always get EVERYTHING else.

But to not drown other trophies out, maybe we could add a scars only boost, that way if you weren't going to get any of the other trophies anyways, atleast you'd get a better chance at a scar drop. (This part suggested by #202)

So, make it easier to get scars? Vote below!

Looking at my logs, I estimate I get a scar once every 24 hours on average by constantly spending energy on looking for level 15+ enemies. As far as I know, getting a scar is like getting other trophies - the enemy has to be at least level 5 and only your lead's level determines how you're likely to get a scar (or other trophy).

Not everywolf uses scars, they can be traded between players so you can ask somewolf in sales if you need specific one. I think the scar economy is really great, compared to most other items which are hoarded in huge amounts taking a lot of effort to put up on sale for little reward.

It may just be my luck (which is highly possible because all my wolves hate me), but I have been battling enemies within the range that Dżanek states for months.  Even as I've been battling more recently, I have NEVER come across a scar, only trophies.  For me, trophies are way easier to get than scars, and it should be the other way around imo.

The only time I've been able to get scars is **rarely** with my level 20 alpha I had during the start of when WD went public.

Second lead: I get Scar [Foot] from foxes. I have nine. I do target foxes for all their possible trophy drops. That, and Mountains at night for Pfflrp (eleven).

First lead did target cougars for their Scar drop list - prior to that, I wanted a cougar pelt like my friend had. I often find Cougar in Desert and Mountains.

As I fought prey to level my second lead (Coniferous Forest), but did not bother with them afterward (so, for most of my lead's life) I am shorter on Eyeless scars (three). Those I received from Elk and Moose, who admittedly enjoy dropping Gnawing Hoof.

It would appear I find 6-7 scars per month, so long as I focus more on fighting (instead of toys/food/pfflrp) - particularly after we got the minimum set to level 5 instead of 5 levels +/- lead wolf. Before? 3 per month with level 20 lead was lucky for me.

I will continue to watch this month to see if they're appearing less often in October. Mind, I am not currently utilizing Guarana, nor do I typically for lead wolf. Will return later. Best of luck, everyone.

Out of 499 total trophies I have won since the trophy rate update, 40 were scars, lending to a 8%* scar drop rate in any of my trophy-winning cases (the "true" percentage could be a little higher or lower).

* You can calculate this rate yourself by searching "won a trophy" in the user log, then searching "won a trophy scar", and dividing the latter amount of results by the former, then multiplying by 100 to obtain your percentage.

Since scars count as "trophies", I'm assuming they have to share space with other trophies in the overall "trophy pool" from which a successful battle draws from. By this logic, I'm not sure I agree with boosting the scar rates if it meant scar abundance would overtake that of normal enemy trophies, especially the ones needed for crafting valuables. Would not be happy trying to grind for canine claws, for example, and ending up with scars for days.

However, if scars got their own separate boost, without affecting or pushing down the normal enemy trophy rate, I wouldn't mind.

That's true, I like the idea of their separate boost without affecting the other trophies cause I can see how badly that would affect some other players.
I'll add this in to the main thread! Thank you :)

I think there should maybe be ways outside of trophies to get scars maybe, if people want them easier?  I'd hate for it to become like Lioden where I feel like scars are constant. My lions constantly end up with them, I am forever removing scars from my huntresses, my hoard is never ending scars that I am forever dumping to the Giving Tree. I've come to hate scars. A lot. And I do not want that experience with scars on Wolvden.

Perhaps some of the basic scars could just be sold in Raccoon Wares?  And then current scar trophy drops could retain their drop rate, but those could be more special/neat scars (that would thus be rarer/harder to get and have more value?).  Or... maybe some of the basic scars could be a potential drop from a specific explore encounter or two with a drop rate that isn't guaranteed, but is higher than the current trophy drop (and be the only possible drop, thus being something people like me could easily avoid but people wanting scars could know to interact with)?

And yeah, as mentioned above, I wouldn't want any sort of scar boost to interfere with collecting other trophies.

I'm totally on board with people who WANT scars being able to get them a bit easier than the current method.  Just... anything to prevent a flood of unwanted scars clogging my hoard like they do on Lioden.

Oh that's actually a really great idea! Yeah on lioden I remember they were CONSTANT which is definitely not something I want out of this thread. That was quite annoying for me as well and it was made them not worth anything.

Added to the raccoon shop would definitely help! Like you said the rarer ones still being able to get in explore and the common ones in shop.

I definitely don't want them to cover up any of the other trophies.

These are great ideas!

Maybe it could be that there are only scars in the shop that you have already earned like once you have gotten a certain scar the normal way, from then on you can purchase them from the store
