There are a few other combinations of bases that you can use to get Pyrope or Realgar as well, though they may give a lower chance :) As long as your breeding has at least one tier III or Special base, at least one Dark base (or two Mediums), and at least one Warm base (or two Muted bases/two Special bases), you will have a chance of getting one of the two. Here's a few examples:

Warm Light I x Monochrome Dark III = Warm Dark III
Warm Medium II x Warm Medium III = Warm Dark III
Muted Medium I x Muted Dark III = Warm Dark III
Special Medium x Warm Dark I = Warm Dark III

You can breed Auburn with these exact same conditions, the only requirement change being that you only need up to tier II instead of tier III. You do not need Black and Red to breed an Auburn base, all of the breedings above would give chance for Auburn as well. I have all of possible passes of combinations in this part of the guide, and you can mix and match possibilities that would give you a Warm, Dark, and tier III base! 		Mel 🏜️

What if I was trying to get Auburn from scratch?

Here's one way to get auburn completely from scratch:
1. Befriend two NBWs.
2. Get two base changers from the Grove and change their bases to either russet or dinar (Warm Dark II bases that are available in the base changer).
3. Breed them and hope! Because auburn is in the same color group as both parents, you have decent odds.

Of course there are other potential pairings that would work (Maddie covers this comprehensively in her post), but I think this way is probably the easiest.

(It's worth noting that the auburn base is different from auburn marks. Auburn marks are a combo of red + black. Auburn base is the same color but doesn't really have anything to do with red + black.)

Thanks! My biggest issue is finding a clean t3 to use. I do have a special medium, so I might try finding him something that will work. Sadly, I haven't found any special NBWs even tho my lead is lv 13. XD

You could try to bookmark a search filter with, for example, "NBW" (or "NIB", or "G2" / "G3", or several searches, one for each of these) as name, F as sex, and T2 and above Warm Dark as Base specifics, maybe a price limit, and check it a couple times a day. It takes no time at all once bookmarked, really, and I'm positive you can find one within a fortnight for less than, say, 500sc, if you do that.

(obviously, for less than 500 sc you'd get a T2, not a T3 or special)

So I plan on doing a muted x muted breeding. Is muted more likely to show up than the other 3? And if the parents are different muted bases does that make either one more likely to show up?

As far as I can remember, Muted is more likely to show up, yes! I don't have much knowledge on the likelihood of certain bases passing, it's something that I would like to look into eventually with some scrying projects. However, if the wolves' bases have matching categories (Muted Light I and Muted Light II, for example), both of their bases will have a higher chance of appearing than if they did not have matching categories. I don't currently know if pairing different shades (Muted Light I and Muted Dark I, for example), would make either of the parent's bases more likely to appear, but it's worth a try. In general, you should end up with more Muted bases than you would the other three categories. 		Mel 🏜️

Thanks. I did opt for variety, so it's a Light I x a Dark II. I'm guessing an even shade mix? 8 pups from a Monochrome Dark I X Muted Light I gave me 2 grey darkers and 6 different other bases I didn't think to record.
