Make Herbalist Stats Matter

Posted 2022-03-25 23:13:47
Isn't it actually the case with the current system - players send future herbalists on scouting missions to lvl20 since foraging/crafting efficiency depends on the level?

I always scout them up a bit before they get put in as herbalist. My current one made level 20, but I leveled her up first. I cant remember to what though-probably around level 15 before making her the herbalist to make sure she got to 20. Next time I'll write it down.

Edit to say after seeing how it worked after the change I do fully support this idea. It would make more sense to have the stats of wisdom and smarts be used instead of level since they gain those stats doing their herbalist duties.

I'm doing that for the first time right now- once my stud is level 20 I'm going to have him replace my herbalist.

Anyhow, I support this. I don't see why herbalism is based on level when like, nothing else in the game is. If they gain specific stats from doing herbalism, wouldn't it make sense to use those stats?

here to say its fucking stupid that it isnt already this way.
every other role uses relevant stats with no focus to levels, herbalists level so slow that theyll essentially never reach 20(unless u setup a disease dungeon) and the herbalist quest tells u to get a smart wolf to become your herbalist despite it having no effect

Edited for shorter title and to make the explanation a bit clearer.

Herbalist role definitely needs more love. I really wish that we could have at least two so that when stats do matter then I can set a bonded pair as the herbalists and breed "better" herbalists for the future.

Bonding a herbalist and a stalker may also be an option.

Support!

Also, going to Herbert when a new recipe is added to the game makes perfect sense, but at what Level does an experienced Herbalist get waved off by Herbert for showing up, yet again, to ask what to use to treat an Open Wound or Fleas?
Not really a question.
Pure exasperation that after ALL the recipes are known, made up, & dozens of apprentices have been trained, yet off to the Grizzly goes my Level 13 Herbalist because he might not know his job by now.

Would y'all please come up with a stat total or a Level that the Herbalist achieves to show they're no longer on eternal job shadowing? It's a wonder my wolves don't bypass him & drag themselves off to Herbert to begin with if my Herbalist is that unsure of his diagnosis.

Support. Granted, herbalists also level up slowest or second slowest, so like, unless they're high stat out the gate, leveling isn't something you can easily do.

So yeah, support if we can up the EXP gain cuz I'm in a similar boat to EmpressLunastra.

Idea: At level 10, an herbalist has a chance to find up to three herbs.

Presently, my lead is drastically more efficient at gathering herbs from explore than my herbalist is, which is a little lol. If these stat changes were enabled to lower the duration of foraging, and there was a chance of finding up to three herbs, having a leveled, high-stat herbalist would actually make a difference than shoving literally any wolf in the role.
