Peakclan's Promise :: A Warrior Cats Roleplay (OPEN!!)

Posted 2021-04-14 15:33:39

Ivycry // Location: Oakclan Camp // Mentions: Eveningpaw, Leafstar, Flowingoak

"That's true, you've only been training for a moon or so now, right?" Ivycry questioned the apprentice, having lost track on how long she had been out of the nursery. "But you should be careful. Don't be too eager to go on 'real missions' or get into fights, alright? The last thing we want is your you to get too reckless and injure yourself,"

Cautioning Eveningpaw, Ivycry took another bite out of her mouse before eyeing Leafstar and Flowingoak. Her stomach churned with uneasiness as she feared the worst. "What do you think those two are talking about? I do hope it's nothing serious," She murmured softly and her ears pinned back.

Eveningpaw // Location: OakClan Camp // Mentions: Ivycry, Flowingoak, Leafstar

Eveningpaw nodded. "About a moon. Maybe two." She groomed her paws, licking the hardened pads. "I won't," She agreed, blue eyes flashing. The sun was rising. She glanced at Leafstar and Flowingoak, nervously twitching her tail. She leaned closer to Ivycry. "Promise not to tell anyone? It'll just cause panic. Me and Flowingoak were patrolling. Usually LakeClan is pretty loud, but...silence. We went over to PeakClan and ran into two warriors. Didn't notice us though." She fluffed up her fur, a current of wind ruffling her pelt. "We were thinking maybe LakeClan and PeakClan were fighting. It has been awfully quiet. Maybe PeakClan ambushed, or vise versa." She shuddered, imagining the battles. "Hopefully they don't attack us, though. We're already having a hard time surviving through leaf-bare. The quarreling makes it harder."

Leafstar || OakClan || Leader || Location: Camp outskirts || Mentions: Flowingoak

The leader's eyes remained locked on the horizon as he delved deeper into his private thoughts. His mind continued to wander to his late brother, leading him to ponder on his niece and nephew. Strange situation those furballs have themselves in... Leafstar huffed gently to himself, stirring the fur on his chest. ...Doesn't feel like they're family, and it'll have to stay that way. Especially with the trouble that Boulderpaw caused on the border the last time...

Was it wrong that he felt resentment towards his brother's kittens? Wasn't he entitled to automatically love and cherish them as the family that they supposedly were? It was hard for the tom to feel an attachment towards family as of recent, following the untimely death of Frogjump. His parents, his remaining littermates- they all turned on him for absent-mindedly accepting the deputy position that his brother had filled prior. They still hadn't forgiven him for it.

Leafstar swiveled his ears in the direction of his deputy as he spoke. Flowingoak: the cat he would have dreamt of being while he was a kitten. Reality struck, and the tom learned that it was better to be a wallflower in the middle of war. Being anything big, threatening, or remarkable like his deputy was like unintentionally having a death wish. Cats would target you. Anything in hopes of weakening a potential enemy clan. The bicolor feline twitched an ear. "Is this something we can speak openly about? Or would you rather keep it to the confines of my den?"

Stormpaw || PeakClan || Apprentice || Location: Camp|| Mentions: Bearheart

Oh, heavens! She'd overslept! The dilute-furred tabby gave herself a brisk morning bath out of response for the intense embarrassment she felt. It wasn't like her, oversleeping and failing to wake up in time for patrol or morning assessment from the warriors. She was an eager contributor to her clan, and it made her mentally scold herself for failing to be there when she might have been needed. In truth, Stormpaw was exhausted (and once more overwhelmed) from the secret visit she held with her alienated LakeClan brother: Boulderpaw. They'd spent most of the night chatting away in private along the border, with her brother adamant about her joining LakeClan for her own safety. But...why LakeClan? Couldn't Boulderpaw join her in PeakClan?

He resents our step-father. Stormpaw reminded herself as she stretched out her hind legs, frowning at the thought. ...And I think he likes the chaos of LakeClan. He worries me sometimes. Stormpaw tired to press the concern from her mind and instead focus on PeakClan, like usual. She fumbled her way out of the apprentice's den to spot Bearheart, the warrior-turned-medicine cat. He never seemed to like his job, but he was pleasant company nonetheless. He was big. He made her feel safe.

"G'morning, mister Bearheart!" She chirped in his direction with her typical jolly air. The medicine cat grunted his greeting in response, while Stormpaw's vivid green eyes scanned camp for a clue of what had happened. Robinstar's gone, she shuffled her paws awkwardly. ...So I really did miss the dawn patrol. She lingered in the direction of the fresh kill pile, hoping to grab breakfast in order to clear her mind. But she didn't want to treat herself to anything big, given that she missed the patrol. It wouldn't be right to reward herself for disappointing her clan. All the prey seems decently sized. Maybe the patrol will bring back something small for me to eat? The queens and elders deserve the good stuff, anyways.

{| Lynxpaw | | Location: Peackclan Meetingrock | | Mentions: Robinstar/Calmbreeze(NPC)/Bearheart |}

Lyanpw groomed his fur until it was perfectly fluffed. He waited two fox-lengths away from the Meetingrock, waiting for his leaders call. "Now Lynxpaw." His mentors mew sounded behind hi. Lynxpaw turned around and Calmbreeze continued on, "You deserve this, ever since you ran off you've shown yourself worthy and loyal. I have never doubted you even when the clan said you were dead." She flicked his ear with her tail and padded off.

I wonder when Robistar will call a meeting. Does she still think I can be a warrior? Will I be an apprentice forever? He then realized how mouse-rained he was being. A cat could never be an apprentice forever! He shook his head of the thoughts and he let out a cough. "Not Greencough!" He yowled to himself. No, I will wait. It will go away eventually. He let out another cough, but he sat up straight. e began to lick his dry padpads.

But he sighed and walked over to Bearhearts den. The medicine cat was with Stormpaw. "Bearheart?" He called into the cave; the strong scent of herbs clouded his nose as he walked further in. "I think I have Greencough! Of all times, why did it have to be the day of my warrior ceremony!" He meowed, half desperate, half growling. He let out a cough and sniffled. "My nose is running and I'm coughing, as you can see, and my pawpads are dry." He then went on about when it happened.

FLOWINGOAK // LOCATION: OAKCLAN CAMP // MENTIONS: LEAFSTAR

Flowingoak glanced around at his leader's inquiry, then blinked his deep blue eyes slowly, returning them to look at the tom. "I don't think it'd be a problem if it's spoken in public." He decided, sitting down beside him.

"I know it's nothing big, but Eveningpaw and I were having a quick run-by kind of patrol early this morning, and we stopped at Lakeclan territory first. You can usually hear them from how close we are to their camp, but there was absolutely nothing, incredibly peculiar for them.

"On top of that, I made sure to move Eveningpaw along quickly so she didn't worry too much, and on the Peakclan border, we saw two dilute calico and tortoiseshell she-cats (Robinmist & Autumnleaf, for context) staring at something under a bush, too focused on it to notice us approaching the border.

"Thankfully, we left without running into any cats, but it arose a question out of Eveningpaw, such as 'do you think Lakeclan and Peakclan had a fight'? Now, I believe that's a very appropriate assumption, given they are the ones who started this whole quarrel in the first place, but as to who started this said 'fight' if there was one, we aren't sure."

The large tom finished, clearing his throat as he curled his fluffy tail over his forepaws. He hoped that he'd explained everything appropriately and in an easy-to-understand way for his leader because the information given could be quite important to him.

An idea then flickered to life in his mind. "If anything, I think that the meeting would be our best bet... it's not that far along, anyway. The last glimpse I saw of the moon this morning was quite close to full."

Eveningpaw // Location: OakClan Camp // Mentions: Ivycry, Flowingoak, Leafstar

Eveningpaw slid her gaze from Ivycry to Flowingoak, hearing him murmur to Leafstar. She strained her ears to listen, but she could only catch a few murmurings about what had happened when they were on patrol. Hopefully they wouldn't be of much threat...right? Her fur bristled uncomfortably. What was her mentor telling Leafstar? Would Leafstar do anything? She turned back to Ivycry. "I think Flowingoak went to tell Leafstar," She said, flicking her head in their direction. "Hopefully Leafstar does something about it. Leaf-bare's hard enough without fighting Clans."

Leafstar || OakClan || Leader || Location: Camp outskirts || Mentions: Flowingoak

Frankly, he'd been expecting something more severe or grave, something a little more...deserving of his attention, like a problem on their own border. He didn't understand why his deputy was so concerned with the matter of the other clans- of course they were likely to fight. It wasn't OakClan's problem if LakeClan and PeakClan were (finally) keeping their quarrels between themselves. "...I don't really understand your concern in the matter." Leafstar blinked slowly, trying to grasp where his deputy was coming from.

"It's only a problem if it's affecting us, Flowingoak. The business between LakeClan and PeakClan has nothing to do with OakClan, and it's better kept this way." The monotone leader lowered his voice. "...The only reason we were dragged into this mess was because they tried to make us involved." OakClan had a troubles of their own, with a bitter leafbare at their throats, and recoveries to be made since the last time LakeClan tried to make them involved in the petty disagreement between the neighboring clans. He hoped his deputy and the rest of OakClan wouldn't try to go snooping around. "Our allegiance doesn't belong to either of them at the moment. Unless PeakClan or LakeClan attempts to make amends or reignite a disagreement with us, we will remain as neutral as possible. Your loyalty is to OakClan, not the other clans."

Be a wallflower. If OakClan kept poking its nose into the fighting between the rivaling clans, then they'd be dragged into the mess even further. That was the last thing Leafstar wanted.

Bearheart || PeakClan || Med Cat || Location: Camp|| Mentions: Stormpaw, Lynxpaw

Of course, self-diagnosing apprentices knew everything, didn't they? Well, he might as well let Lynxpaw into his herb stores as well, because surely he could name and identify every plant just as well as he could self-diagnose. His mentor had warned him against that- if cats continued to try to diagnose themselves, they'd believe they had every illness under the sun. In reality, it was usually just a bout of paranoia that didn't spread disease, but even more anxiety. Fortunately, this apprentice actually seemed ill. "Maybe leave the diagnosing to a skilled paw." Bearheart reminded the young tom in a rumble, squinting at his leaking nose. It wasn't severe, at least not yet.

"After all, you only have whitecough, not greencough. 'N be thankful for that- greencough is the severe form if you leave your whitecough untreated for too long." He wasn't about to lecture the apprentice. Out of the clan, Bearheart had the most herb knowledge due to his limited amount of training. But when it came to medicine cats of the past...his education was certainly the most restricted. Fortunately, his lectures over coughs had been well-informed: respiratory infections were the most common ailment in PeakClan, after all. Cold climates and what have you. He flicked his tail briefly before turning. "Wait here."

Catmint was easy to identify, with its pleasant smell that made Bearheart want to eat it all. Good thing Lynxpaw didn't need something else, something more complex- otherwise Bearheart wouldn't be able to find the herb, likely. The medicine cat felt his mouth water at the tempting scent of the catmint before he returned to the ill apprentice and shoved them forward. "Eat these. Lucky for you, catmint is the tastiest of all the herbs. Do not share prey, do not share nests. Stay away from kits and elders, since coughs are highly contagious. If possible, sleep in a separate den from everyone else for the next couple of days."

His gaze of calm fire-and-ice turned to Stormpaw, who seemed to be hopeful for some instructions. "If Robinstar doesn't return soon, I wouldn't mind having a helping paw in gathering...plants." StarClan, this new job was a downgrade. How cool and brave was gathering weeds?

FLOWINGOAK // LOCATION: OAKCLAN CAMP // MENTIONS: LEAFSTAR

Flowingoak dipped his head, listening to Leafstar speak. Of course, their silence wouldn't be much of a concern... the only time it would be is if Lakeclan's silence was because they are planning something against Oakclan. He thought, mentally shaking his head.

"Of course, Leafstar." He offered the tom a small smile, flicking his tail back behind himself. "I should round up some cats to go out in a hunting party since the sun is getting them out of their nests now."

Flashing him one last, tiny smile, the large male stood up and walked off, shaking out his fur when he was a good distance away. Hmm. I feel like quite the mousebrain now. Where's Badgerfur? He wondered, his blue eyes glancing over at the warrior's 'burrow' of sorts. Probably still dozing off like my father most likely is in the elder's quarters.

Eveningpaw // Location: OakClan Camp // Mentions: Ivycry, Flowingoak, Leafstar

Eveningpaw knew the conversation was over, Flowingoak was walking away. Perhaps she could be of assistance? Purring a quick goodbye to Ivycry, she ran over to Flowingoak. "How did it go?" She meowed, tail twitching. "Can I help you in any way? Patrolling? Hunting? I could help bring fresh-kill for the elders." She smiled a bit before lowering her voice. "Ivycry knows of the fighting now. I made her promise not to tell anyone though," She mewed. "I just hope they don't attack us."

Boulderpaw || LakeClan || Apprentice || Location: Lake-Oak Border || Mentions: N/A

He could have waited for his mentor to fetch him. He should have waited. But he chose not to, because he was not interested in laying around and taking lectures from some know-it-all rather than acting when it was needed. Boulderpaw was confident he knew better. It was quite hypocritical of him, but being that he was a young and mischievous apprentice, the thought never seemed to cross him. Boulderpaw, at the moment, was feeling more resentful than he typically did. A patrol left to attack PeakClan- and without taking him along.

I may be an apprentice, but I'm big and I'm a capable fighter. He thought crossly to himself as he marched from camp, striking a pebble with his paw to send it skipping into the water. ...it's their loss. I bet LakeClan'll lose the fight, since they didn't take me along. Boulderpaw forcefully pushed his way out of the paw-weaved camp and made his way in the direction of the OakClan border, purposefully avoiding PeakClan in the event that the patrol returned to gloat and later nag at him for leaving camp without permission. His mind wondered to his littermate, and a grim expression crossed his face as he neared the border to hunt. I hope Stormpaw didn't get caught up in it all. We only met again just last night, but as her brother, it's my responsibility to keep her safe. And no border can change that.

He lingered around the OakClan-LakeClan border, with another wave of bitter displeasure washing over him. A patrol had recently left. He was reminded once more of his uncle, Leafstar, who had the audacity to essentially disown them and fail to welcome his niece and nephew into OakClan, where they could be together and be safe. Dry old man. Boulderpaw thought to himself as he continued to taste the air for prey. Can't let it go that I chased prey into his miserable territory just once. He's never even talked directly to us. Not like Leafstar even has an ounce of dignity to protect, anyways.
