Development Update #6.1

Posted 2021-02-11 21:26:39

I’ve literally only brought in 4 successful hunts since the update

team is all mostly low 300s and high 200s

im definitely going to run out of food in a few days

tried to do a daily quest to make up for but got “5 successful hunts”

That just feels like bullying at this point

pleeeeease can you add scrying results to search and sales to make it easy for people to find carriers xx

Although I myself didn't use the Gene update at first because I was strongly opposed to the original 150 SC price, I still think it's fair to refund those who did so before the price reduction was made. SC is way harder to come by than GC and it could've been better spent on something more essential.

But other than that, this was a nice update, and thank you so much for listening to your consumers ^^

As someone stated earlier, it's not fair to hand out refunds without reshuffling those wolves' genetic traits, as then the users already know the carrier status of their wolves and what to and not to test for, which would give them an unfair advantage. That NBW wasn't a carrier? Well, you spent the 150SC, got the 150SC back, and now you know you shouldn't spend ANY SC on that wolf again and will choose to use that SC on other wolves. The NBW that was a carrier? Now you know what they carry and can just spend to reveal that specific trait, which means you get to keep 100SC that otherwise would have bit into your profits.

They also got the service they paid for, which was all three mutations being looked for, so they did not overpay - the price for checking all three has remained the same, there was no actual price reduction made. The price was just split up for those who don't want to test for all three.

Since I complained earlier in this thread, just wanna update that hunting has been a okay for me this winter. Way better than last winter in the same biomes/with the same teams. Thanks devs! I do think the percentages listed are freaking people out more than it should.

I like the new mutation update, and I see nothing wrong with the 50 SC/mutation price — there are plenty of ways to acquire that amount in no time (i.e. fishing).

The new hunting system, however, raises some concerns. I will preface this by saying that I do like the fact that percentages were added; that's helpful and positive. On the flip side, I don't know if the increased influence of stats on hunting success is a good thing yet. Personally, where my high proficiency/synergy hunting party (whose wolves average around 350-450 stats) used to hunt medium and large trails with great success (probably around 50%), I haven't managed to successfully hunt these trails yet following the update.

Some things to note:

Because stats are so much more important now, we can predict that users will increasingly breed their wolves to leaderboard studs in order to attain higher stat wolves for hunting parties. This is bad for the gene pool of Wolvden; hundreds of wolves on the game are already related to these studs, often on both sides.

Players who fail to bring in enough food to feed their pack may leave the game, and a lot of new players with lower stat wolves may get discouraged.

Biomes that were already difficult to live in will become even more difficult, and as such, many players will leave those biomes.

Many users don't care about stats all that much. They just want to collect and breed pretty wolves (and be able to feed them).

All of this being said, these are just preliminary observations, and I think we should wait until winter is over before we jump to any further conclusions.

Just a quick note from my personal experience,

While i do like some of the hunting changes such as the percentages and being able to change members a bit. I have found a massive decrease in successful hunts and this is with wolves of 330-500 stats and I am getting a bit worried about the amount of food I will be having.

I still believe its relative to the old system but updating on today, like i said yesterday I caught most of my hunts, maybe about 3/4 of the time, but today not a single thing, still looking into this as all ive chased today were large prey and yesterday wasnt all large

I like the changes to hunting (love seeing percentages!!!) and I understand wanting stats to be important but I have seen a massive decrease in my main hunting teams ability to catch food. I went from what I would say was close to a 50% chance of catching large prey and nearly 100% chance of smalls, to what is now showing as 25ish% for small and 5% for large and I'm really feeling it like a blow to the ribs.

I used to fairly easily feed my 30 wolf pack and now its a struggle with most of my food coming from explore or having to be bought, as a player only mildly interested in stats this is super disappointing because I was very happy with my decent prey catch rate and was even thinking about moving into a more difficult biome. Now I will probably be forced into a starter biome again with the hope of being able to manage getting food.

Being in the coniferous forest with a nearly fully synergized and trained hunting pack of 340-500 stat wolves should not be giving only a 5-10% catch rate on large stuff. I could see in winter if this was about 25%. but 5% with this stat range feels disheartening.
