Trading Pair Bonded Wolves

Trading Pair Bonded Wolves

I think we should be able to trade pair bonded wolves together. I don’t want to have to break up my pairs to make room for new wolves. I know not everyone has access to pair bonding, but maybe it can just be grayed out until they unlock it but they would still be paired, OR it can be so that only those who have unlocked pair bonds can buy pairs but I do think we should be able to trade them as long as they go together rather than having to break them up before trading.

I would like this I think it's a good idea but I also think it might require a lot of TC coding

I support this full heartedly. I have 2 pair bonded sets I want to rehome but disbanding the bond A. Drains their Entertainment and B. Makes it so the buyer will have to wait a month to pair them again. This is most inconvenient for one pair because the male in 1 set stands the chance of passing away beforehand

Support! I like this from a lore perspective - if they stay together, there's no reason the bond should have to be broken.

Coding-wise, I'm thinking it could work similarly to nursing mothers? If you put a nursing mother up for sale, the pups automatically come with. Likewise, if you put a bonded wolf up for sale, the other wolf could automatically come with (possibly with a warning/notification in case the owner forgot about the bond and only wanted to sell one wolf).

Balance-wise, I think it would be fine for players who haven't unlocked pairbonding to buy bonded couples. It's like how new players who haven't unlocked herbalism can still buy sick puppies (although this is obviously much nicer than a sick puppy).

Yes, yes, please. All my support!

There's no reason for this not to be base game already, I thought it was already an option.

I don't see why not. Benefits for lore and how cute it would be for a pair to stay together aside, it would make for some great trades - T3 same-category wolves that are already bonded, etc. It could open some new opportunities for traders and buyers alike.

Edit: Pff, duh. Forgot to say support!

When pair bonds were implemented and I found out pair bonded wolves cannot be traded, I felt it'd be nice to allow players to trade wolves in pair bonds together even though I've never felt the need to do so.

However, there might be an exploit to circumvent the limit of pair bond breedings by temporarily sending pair bond wolves to another player to breed them. This should be taken into consideration.

@Dzanek That's a good point. Maybe there could be a 7-RO waiting period (just like now, when you get a wolf, they have to be in your pack 7 ROs before you can bond them; if you got a bonded pair, they'd both have to be in your pack 7 ROs before you could breed them). It could still technically be abused, but it's a pretty big ask for someone to hold two adult wolves in their pack for an entire week.

Support! Obviously this would have to be worked around for players who don't have the pairbonding quest completed, but otherwise it would be a huge help. I've considered selling some of my wolves before, only to learn that I would have to break the pairbond to be able to sell them. It's very inconvenient, especially if the wolf doesn't sell.

Support! I like Lionel's idea to prevent an exploitable loophole, or I have another proposal, admittedly more hardcore:

So, say the pair bonded wolves couldn't be sold or transferred from their new pack as a pair for 30 ROs (same cooldown as breaking a pair bond). They could still be sold/transferred separately if you break the pair bond.

I'm not sure about my own suggestion, LOL, just trying to think of solutions.
