@Anaraktu It's alright! Not much information about finding or breeding mutants is accessible unless you go digging in threads like this ^^ I'm glad I could help!

Ok so im new to this and dumb. Can you explain to me how one knows if theyre a 15% or 10% PAC? And you take a PAC and put it with an actual Albino to scry and see if theyre a carrier or do you put them with a regular wolf or do you put them with another PAC since i think i saw yall say it takes to possible carries to through a albino?

The odds depend on the family line! The children of mutants have a 15% chance of carrying the recessive mutated gene, while the children of carriers have a 10% chance ^^

As for scrying, you have to scry against a mutant or carrier for a potential carrier to show! Since it’s a recessive gene, the gene will only show when it is forced to by being doubled- which is to say, you can breed a carrier against a noncarrier and get lots of potential carrier pups, but breeding them with another carrier or a mutant is the only way to get visible mutants! ^^ So yes, scrying a PAC against an albino or carrier is how you find out if they carry the gene! I’d recommend scrying against Albinos, personally, because even if you plan to breed to a carrier, the extra 5% chance speeds up the scries :>

(And as a side note, I tend to scry 3 times x a melanistic wolf and an albino wolf for each NBW I find, and 4-5 times x the proper mutation for every bred potential carrier! Everyone feels comfortable doing it different amounts of times, but 3-5 is a good baseline in my experience ^^ It’s very odd based, though, so keep that in mind!)

Do we HAVE to scry them with one of the parents? can't we choose a different wolf with said mutation?

@South Are you asking if you can scry a potential carrier wolf with any wolf of the right mutation? If so, the answer is yes- If you’re looking for an Albinism carrier, for example, you can scry your wolf with any adult albino wolf to get best results!

...I’ll be honest, it’s been so long since I checked the first page that I’d forgotten it says to use parents there, and using the parents of mutants doesn’t give the best chances after all so perhaps that ought to be updated!

If you breed a possible melan carrier with a possible alby carrier, will those cancel out or will the offspring have a chance for either mutation?

The offspring should have a chance for either! In theory, it's possible to breed an albino or melan wolf who carriers the other gene as well, though none have been achieved thus far ^^
