How To Check For Albino/Melanism Carriers

Posted 2020-12-26 12:34:03

Yes! That’s actually one of my breeding goals. (To have an albino or a mela that also carries the opposing gene)

I think this isnt possible,  the wolf can have a secondary mutation and first mutation at the same time, but not carrier 2 of the same mutation, welp, we dont have any proof yet

The devs confirmed it was the case, Pixote.

ok so.....Now i am mega confused. So if i scry my main breeding male with my 'potential' mela carrier girl I 'wont' be able to scry to see if she is a carrier???

Why do i have to scry to a mela carrier to see if my mela potential girl has the gene???

In order to have a melanistic puppy, two wolves with the same recessive melanism gene must be bred! If your breeding male doesn’t have the recessive gene, then it won’t show because it’s recessive- it hides unless it’s forced to be dominant, ie by breeding two carriers and getting a Melan! Scrying a potential carrier with an existing melan or carrier is how you tell if you have a carrier because melans cannot be born out of a carrier/noncarrier breeding ^^ Hope that helps!

Tip: If possible when scrying for mela, use a mutated melanistic wolf with a light or medium shaded base, so it won't show up any black possibilities or be less likely to.

you know that this isnt a real way right? its been discussed on news, that this is false, and if you advertise like this its false advertising as well.

@Anaraktu Scrying to find out if a wolf has a mutated gene does actually work! There's dozens of users with evidence to prove such, since scrying shows both random and genetic mutations now ^^ It's considered false advertising to say that a wolf is a "confirmed" carrier if they haven't produced a mutated offspring because it's incredibly easy to claim they are a carrier or fake a screenshot of the scry with the purpose of scamming, but the method itself is in fact effective! I found my Albinism stud and several of my now-confirmed carriers this way ^^
