Apprenticeship/Mentor Feature

Posted 2020-11-04 05:38:01

I support this! To limit this a bit, maybe only adols and adults can become apprentices, and a mentor can only have one apprentice. Apprentices will gain a little bit of proficiency every time their mentor does something, but can gain only up to 50% (or less) proficiency before they become a Herbalist/Scout/Hunter.

Also, maybe with hunting parties there can only be one apprentice per party, instead of one per each wolf.

Would love to see this implemented down the line!

My lore already has apprentices incorporated into it, such as the pack shamans are always female and their first born girl will always become the apprentice to take the role. Or my scouts will apprentice their own pups/outsider pups that they deem worthy, etc. To have it as an actual feature would be awesome.

I would love to be able to do this! I want to train a new herbalist, it'd be useful AND really cute.

Support! I was going to have one of my wolves be a back up Herblist so I wouldn't have to worry about nesting mine the day before, and to replace when my Herblist gets to old only to find... That I would have to fight the cool downs to have a back up herblist.

I like this idea but I wonder if the mentoring process could be more passive. For example after assigning an apprentice to an herbalist/scout/etc that has 100% proficiency, when the mentor does their task and would have gotten a proficiency point for it, the apprentice would have a chance to get that proficiency point instead. So progress would be slow for the apprentice but they would be getting proficiency for that role.

Generally support! I'm not sure how I feel about the exact implementation here but I definitely feel like an apprenticeship for every role (possibly even lead) should be included.

However....... Am I the only one who seems to recall that in testing, at least herbalists could could have apprentices? I'm not sure because once Covid hit my country I ended up needing to back out... But I seem to remember that being a feature.

I like the idea that only full prof wolves (or maybe like 75%+?) could mentor... And I sort of like the idea of only one apprentice to a mentor, but I also like the idea that specifically for hunters maybe, as many wolves within one hunting party as necessary can be selected to mentor a wolf, but their proficiency has to add up to 100? So a hunting party with 1 wolf with 100% prof could only mentor one apprentice, but a hunting party with 4 wolves each at 50% could mentor two... Idk, just some thoughts.

I definitely support this idea! I feel like training for stat gain could also be implemented, as pups just do nothing and have no chance to gain stats until adulthood.
