[ADDED!] Multiple party hunting suggestion

Posted 2022-01-26 09:55:34
Support! Another idea could be to increase the hunting party size perhaps? Maybe instead of 5 they could allow for 7 or 8 wolves. These wolves could take chaser or stalker positions (I'm not sure how ideal an extra finisher would be). These hunts could take longer, I think that would be fair. With with these bigger, longer hunts perhaps there could be a low chance for the hunting party to bring back more than one prey item? Or at least have a bigger chance at bringing down larger prey? That would help feed larger packs.

Side note: I don't know how  wolf experience would play into this, but I would think a slight uptick in exp would be nice if the above happens!

I Support this and as said by some other posts I think a max of 4 would be great so maybe a adjustment of the territory maybe more of 50th slot - 100th slot and 200th slot because you start off with 1 anyways so by the time you get to 100 you have 3 which I feel like is plenty enough and the 200th slot is more for those that just want the flex or invest in the Extra party for a giant long haul of Stat lines or food selling services

Coming back because we need this now even more than when it was suggested! I think 2 hunting parties should be available a bit earlier— perhaps at 30 territory space, because it is extremely difficult to support a pack in the 40s with 1 hunting party, and it doesn't seem fair to punish players for expanding their pack by making it impossible to get enough food without paying for it from other players. But anyway, SUPPORT. I saw in giveaways someone did a RAFFLE for food. Ofc that's very kind of them to give away food, but the fact that it was a FOOD raffle was ridiculous— not that they did it, but that there's so little food that people are eager to enter a raffle for the chance of getting food

I have over 50 wolves in my pack. It is difficult to take care of them all when it comes to food and amusement. I don't get enough amusement when I explore or from when I rescout, all I do is rescout because if I focus my scout into exploring a biome I didn't unlock yet would make it so that I don't get enough. Same thing with food, it's never enough. My pack will always grow.

It is a good idea that at 30 territory slots we can send another party at the same time, and perhaps at 60 territory slots we could send 3 at the same time. That way wolves can stay fed. But if this does happen, we would have more food but then struggle with amusement, there needs to be another way to get more amusement as well. Maybe hunting parties could bring an amusement item after a hunt like a bone or something.

I don't agree with the struggling with food part with 40 wolves but that's because I am in a starter biome, obtained food was never supposed to be easy to begin with. It shouldn't be easy to have over a certain amount of wolves I'm sorry but it's called management especially if you decide to live in a harsher biome to begin with. I do agree tho that Amusment could use a small boost and can agree at a minimum of 40 t-slots to open up another party to send out. This is my opinion on the issue tho cause we forget this isn't supposed to be another easy pet game or idle game where you can have 200 wolves. This is wolvden which is supposed to more management and breeding, but this game isn't perfect ether but we gotta see it from a different viewpoint. Sure what if we can easily feed 50 wolves in a harder biome but what's to stop people saying it's not enough if they can't feed 100? Not trying to be mean just giving a different sense of viewpoint/ Opinion. Now I give the next post to give their opinion too.

I should point out that the leap in difficulty from one biome category to another is a bit ridiculous.

In my main hunting party I have a 300+ WIS/SMR stalker and 400 STR finisher, and they can't find large trails, nor catch them. All chasers are over 100 stats for SPD/AGI, with my highest being close to 300 as well. Unfortunately my oldest hunters are going to be dying in a few days, so I'll have to move somewhere easier.

In the coniferous forest I did okay, getting at least a few large carcasses per day, in the desert (one difficulty higher) I have 26% chance for medium trails in summer and autumn. I don't log on in winter if I can help it. It sucks.

For me I have to be in a harder difficulty biome or my wolves stagnate at around level 12-14 for half their lives. I actually want my hunters to specialise and get better over the generations, so I have to breed late in their lives and take the food hit. If I stayed in the coniferous forest I would have gone up about 20-30 of the relevant stat points per generation, which adds nothing for the success % of harder biomes.

I do agree with you @VagueShapes, the difference in stat requirements do get rather harsh straight away I wouldn't mind if they did smaller differences in the biomes 1-2 steps away from starter and can understand if rainforests stay the same cause they are supposed to be more difficult, but stuff like prairie is a little difficult to be in is why I don't stay outside of starter biomes for long, perhaps if they adjusted the requirement rates to be more even and small jumps from starter to harder biomes and adjusting the most challenging just a tad to make it hard but still doable for a decent stat party

I can never stay in difficult biomes for long. I go there specifically for getting the decor I am looking for. Because staying there when my hunters don't have high enough stats or experience to hunt there successfully.

I also support more hunting teams being released at once. But I also wish the same would be done with herbalists.

Support!

I don't see the use of having multiple hunting parties if you can only send out one at a time. I think it would really help us who have a lot of wolves to feed, unrelated (sort of) but I wish they'd do this with scouts  as well (allow us to have more scouts and send out more than just two).

I love this game but I don't want to have to grind for hours to keep all of my wolves alive and well, I wish it was easier to keep everyone fed and happy.
