Sky Watcher #134793
An friendly-looking she-wolf sits outside a tightly woven den, with a crown made of beautiful pink roses, and vines around her head. she seems unaware of how different she looks from you. Reaching a paw to straighten the crown on head, the she-wolf woofs to you.
"Can I help you, wanderer?" The question is warm, not wary. "You don't look like you're head to steal, so I imagine you're here to barter. My name is Hare Flight. I'll accompany you inside, show you around." she chuckles, glancing towards the jay perched nearby as they share an amused look. "Mind your step- don't want to come out with a nipped ear, now."
With a quick scratch under her ears, the crowned she-wolf stands and shakes out her thick coat, leading you into the nursery. The mothers of the pack watch you as the pair of you pass them by. Some of them have a fire blazing in their gaze, warning you to stay far away from their puppies. Some even bare their teeth. Hare Flight leads you off down a tunnel, dug expertly by some wolf ages ago. A group of older pups, already weaned from their mothers who have gone back to their duties, plays in the next space you enter within the caves. They look at you and you notice that they are only apprentices, practicing their battle skills. "Mothers can be clingy, so we like to move the apprentices to their own den. It helps the apprentices learn to be more independent and their mothers can finally let go." she gestures to a den, woven with reeds and bigger to the other dens, nearby, adorned with jewels and gemstones, bones and shells. "This is the warriors Cave! When the apprentices grow up, most of them become warriors, depending on their training. This is their new den when they have completed their training and earned the title of a warrior!" she explains. You look around the dimly lit den, and see that there are many nests in this den. "We have a lot of warriors" Hare Flight explains, almost reading the question in your mind. She pads away, leaving you wondering, before calling out and disapering into a crack in a rock. You pad towards the crack and notice the stench of herbs coming from it. You squeeze inside and notice a beige male wolf, sorting herbs. You wrinkle your nose at the pungent scent. "This is my mate, Beetle Nose!" Hare Flight exclaims, and licks Beetle Nose's shoulder. "He is our herbalist, his apprentice is Fox Paw. He is training her to take his place as herbalist when he retires." Hare Flight tells you. Beetle Nose looks up from sorting the herbs, and stares at you. You feel the fur on your spine tingle, and shudder. You are relieved when Hare Flight signals with her tail, and pads out of the den. You gladly follow her, relishing the feeling of air on his pelt once more. You look at Hare Flight. She seems to be staring up a a large rack, jutting out of the wall of the camp. You let out a gasp of surprise when you notice the shape of a wolf standing on the rock. another shape is sitting next to the figure. It is a gray male with a dappled she-wolf standing next to him. "That's our leader, Sky Watcher! And his mate, Cloud Spots!" She exclaimed excitedly. then, an expression of sadness rolled across her face "It also means it's time for you to continue your travels" You looks at the tightly woven den, the one which is clearly the nursery. You didn't get to see inside. But one look at the queens' exxpressions, told him he was not looking inside the nursery today. Hare Flight let you share a peice of prey, and let you have a feather to play with, before setting you off to continue your travel. You would never forget her, and maybe visit again sometime!
