The Wolves of Mount Torse
"Embody Enbarr's strength to give our Pack your own."
"There is strong shadow where there is much light."
"I'm so scared. How did you survive?"
"Bring death to the sky and moon."
"Accept solitude and stand in the center of heaven."
2. Unless Pack lore calls for it, I don't have a naming system, and so the mountain will give birth to many irregular names.
3. Larger Pack lore corresponds to Alphas, which are given titles for each rule and are named. I've stashed them away under spoiler tags for convenience but please read at your leisure. I've written all of these myself, so please respect that!
4. Puppies will receive names when they're of age, and except for special situations, will be named simply as 'keep'.
5. Potato pups are given to pupsitters and become bear food when I can, but as the mountains are harsh, many will perish.
6. It's fine if you'd like to not accept an offer, or if you're taking a bit longer to finish art I've paid for. I would just like one thing: please keep in contact.
7. All friend requests will be accepted, but this will remain at my discretion.
8. I sell food/amusement in bulk most days, so if you're in need, check my trades or DM me.
With the aging of the founding wolves, and the loss of her most trusted members, the Alpha's mind began to slip. Once old age claimed the prominent champions of Enbarr's fledgling customs and proprieties, Ellegaard soon found herself outnumbered. With the death of Arashi, and her only surviving son, Dulcelumen, she was alone. She had put away all her dreams of having more puppies with her mate Romero, still unable to get past the grief of losing her daughter Lumen, her nameless runt puppy that died before she was granted a name by the Pack, and finally the betrayal of her only surviving daughter, Duskthroat. Still, this sacrifice in favour of being a committed leader was not in vain, as during her twilight years, she managed to regain the trust and respect of most, if not all of Enbarr, and died a heralded leader, though she leaves no blood in her Pack. Though she managed to select a worthy successor, and heal the remaining scars of the Weiss-Schwarz Conflict, she passed away as soon as she had predicted.
However, as gray accumulated on her muzzle, and her plea for her loyal Beta to embark on a quest with her to search for and consume the illustrious Jellyfish of legend to keep her alive, not to mention her realisation that she has now fallen in love with the immortal Mayserle, Flostrum could not help but wonder if the preparations she had begun for her successor were enough to keep her beloved Pack alive and away from the brink she inherited, whilst balancing her own hopes. As the end of her years came, hastened by the loss of her precious mother and the grief that eternity with her mate was out of reach, she still managed to pass away in relative peace, under her own terms, believing that there would, one day, be a reunion with the mate she loved so dearly.
Eventually, as the moons passed, Seyfert was able to find a stable footing, carving out Enbarr's position in their territory for good. However, there was the worry of ascension, as Seyfert realised too soon her own mortality. Her wolves had grown weary of battle and were all too happy to continue to look towards her for guidance, and she could acutely sense the lack of ambition. Her three living daughters - Crioleide, Skadi Scathcha, and Osierie, had settled comfortably into their pack roles, and she did not want to ruin their lives for the sake of Enbarr's own. To her relief - and shock - her answers came in the form of an abandoned pup in a cave, who was adamant in joining Enbarr. Naming her Clingdrop, Seyfert watched her grow, even mentored her - and was glad to pass on her mantle when the time came.
Still, as Clingdrop ascended to the role of Alpha, Seyfert's belief, and the time spent endearing her to the Pack paid off dearly. Despite the Alpha's more aloof personality compared to her predecessors, she showed resilience and ruthless efficiency when the Pack's needs were going unmet, making sure that everyone had enough to survive without overindulging even herself. It was only when the Pack began working harder, and with the combination of skilled new blood and the spring did Enbarr bring itself up from its knees, and Clingdrop's strict governance earned her laurels. Yet another challenge, entirely unforeseen, came with the discovery of a trembling puppy with multiple limbs and tiny wings: Lupercalia, the first of the Nestlings, a group of lethally mutated puppies with no way to fend for themselves. Though Mayserle and the recently immortalised Cacyra had agreed to care for them, it was still mouths and space Enbarr had to grant. Many in the Pack believed that Enbarr was already cursed, as Risalki, a birth within the Pack, was born lethally mutated.
Despite this, Clingdrop managed to hold her Pack together, and with Rium, Risalki's mother, and the newly integrated Snowsbane, a previous nomad who left his human's side to be alongside wolves once more, they managed to warm the Pack to the Nestlings, and convince them all they had a place in Enbarr. Perhaps the mystical Jellyfish saw the pups' plight and decided to grant further blessings, or the anointment of Cacyra, a wolf who volunteered to remain immortal so she could assist Mayserle with the puppies, Enbarr was eventually able to comfortably look after the puppies. Clingdrop, now made painfully aware by Teralae that a lethal illness was hampering the rest of her days, worked so hard to make sure she preserved her Pack and their good opinion of her to her last days, so much so her sudden death was a painful shock that rolled over the Pack, leaving it in desperate need of comfort.
