[Chased] Allow players to encounter their own Chased wolves

Posted 2023-06-18 13:35:17
There have been some really great thoughts and ideas shared on this thread. I know it seems like I tossed an idea out and then went MIA and that wasn't my intent.

I had planned to spend some time this weekend enhancing the original post with the points and ideas that have been shared (both the pros and the cons), but I just flat-out ran out of time. I'm hoping I'll be able to carve out the time this next upcoming weekend.

I wouldn't say I like to debate, but I do enjoy being challenged to look at something from a different perspective. I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to share their point of view, and would like to encourage everyone to keep sharing their opinions and thoughts. I promise I'm reading them. And that I will get it all organized in the original post...eventually.

I've already voted yes on this awhile back, but I'd like to reply to it / bump it up for more people to see.

I think alot of people chase wolves for different reasons.. Some people chase them because they truly want them gone / don't want them back. Raise and chase is noticably a popular thing on the game, myself included. I raise and chase wolves at a year old, or when they're older in hopes for an age reroll and they can be found again. With the market being the way it is, its extremely sad when you chase a wolf, especially a T3 with event markings, and players want hundreds of GC just to get it back. I know its a way of people making some money, but sometimes it'd be nice to be able to have the opportunity to find your own chases in explore, so you dont ALWAYS have to deal with that situation.

I think this is a great idea. Lore-wise, it would make sense that a wolf that you chased would be wondering around near your territory. For the people who saying they wouldn't want chased wolves back, the chance would be incredibly low and and they can always say no on the befriending screen. And as someone who chases wolves they would love to get back, yes please!

I agree a lot with this! More so after we just got the update with the new "send away" feature, which now gives players an option to chase wolves without sending them into the pool, and mitigating a lot of the common arguments against your suggestion

More than anything it feels super harmless of a suggestion. The chance of re-encountering your own wolves would be so slim I can't imagine it would inconvenience anyone, even if they didn't want to see a familiar face - after all you can just leave a NBW interaction with no consequences if you don't want them back, the same as any other NBW

No support from me. I don't want to see wolves I chased.

Once again supporting. I don't see an issue with players finding their own wolves, even more so after the update. If you don't want to see your own wolves, then don't chase them, delete them.

If you don't want to see the wolves you chased, then don't get rid of them through the chase mechanic. Use the newly added "send away" mechanic to guarantee that they have been erased from existence.
It's that easy. Sure it costs energy but at least you are able to put your garbage wolves in the trash where they belong rather than polluting the chased pool with their wretched existence.

I have extremely mixed feelings about this, particularly in regards to value of chased wolves, which is already at an all time low.

Oh the other hand, I would also very greatful if it keeps away unsolicited messages from chasers who expect me to give them back a special wolf worth quite a bit for nothing--it's happened, and while partly my fault for giving into the pressure, I really hate that expectation to give caught wolves back.

So, tentative support for now!

No support. I don't like the idea of raising and chasing a wolf just to try to get it back with a 'clean slate'. Although I think it's fine the way it is where other players have a chance of encountering a cool g1 wolf to start a line with. If people want to go out of their way to try to get those chased wolves back then so be it but I don't think the mechanics should actively support it. I would rather we have more reasons to keep our higher gen wolves rather than doubling down on the g1 obsession.

The g1 fetish people have is cringe. No support.
