Holiday-based explore encounters + items

Holiday-based explore encounters + items

So here in America we just had the Fourth of July pass by and it got me thinking - wouldn't it be cool to see some smaller holidays acknowledged in game via explore encounters and some unique decor or background items?

These 'events' would feature a small batch of explore encounters that would appear on that respective holiday giving small nods to that particular holiday! I'd like to see these encounters start out as normal explore encounters with text, art, and 2-3 options with different results and rewards based on what they player picks. However, over time I'd want to see them grow to give unique day-specific rewards such as a firework background as a rare reward for the explore encounter on the fourth or four-leaf clovers on Saint Patricks Day.

Alternatively or in addition - these 'events' could contain day-specific backgrounds and decor that the player can purchase from Raccoon Wares.

I feel like these would just help make the game a bit more dynamic and interesting for those who choose to play on these days. New decor or backgrounds exclusive to these days would also help encourage people to play on these days or keep coming back because these days are spread out.

Saint Patricks Day
  • Encounter Themes:Clovers and rainbows

  • Backgrounds:Clover Field

  • Decor:Clover bundles or patches. Perhaps a four leaf clover behind the ear. Rainbow overhead

Mother's Day
  • Encounter Themes:Mother's love (Mother wolf nursing her pups, a mother opossum with babies on her back, mother polar bear with twin cubs, otters with babies on their chest. Maybe even an encounter that's simply text-based with your lead reminiscing about their mother.)

  • Backgrounds: N/A

  • Decor: N/A

Father's Day
  • Encounter Themes:Explore encounters relating to fathers. Such as father wolf protecting or training his pups, a red fox teaching his pups to forage, or a 'pregnant' toad

  • Backgrounds: N/A

  • Decor: N/A

Fourth of July
  • Encounter Themes:Fireworks and the sound of loud bangs

  • Backgrounds: Fireworks lighting up a night sky

  • Decor: Red white and blue flowers or streamers

Valentine's Day
  • Encounter Themes: Romance

  • Decor:

Lunar New Year

Halloween

  • "Aww, what a heartwarming moment! A red fox is burrying food items while his pups diligently watch." (Father's day)

If anyone has any ideas for further holidays, potential encounters for the holidays above or wants to write up a text mockup for an encounter please comment below! Don't be scared to share any input good or bad!

i think its a good idea. but i think users were are playing in other countries will feel left out. if they only american holidays added to the game .

while i'm not familiar with holidays outside of the USA , i still think we should be considerate of other users who play wolvden from other countries.

Undecided

I like the idea of implementing more flavor text in explore, especially since you tend to see events so often that the text is practically memorized so new text would give me a reason to slow down and actually read in explore. However I don't support the idea of it just being American holidays. If holidays from many countries were implemented I would have more support for it, but considering that more than just Americans play this game it would be weird to only include one group's holidays.

@ sunspot forest

i like your idea of other holidays from other countries.

people from other countries play this game , its only far that other holidays are added to the game not just american holidays.

I can definitely see why you would think that! The main reason I said American/international holidays is the fact that Wolvden is American based so it wouldn't make much sense to get nods to humans celebrating, say, Chinese New Years when this is something that wouldn't be celebrated around there. I could see maybe decor being released but not sure how explore encounters would fit in. I'd be totally down for the idea if it could fit, though!

Were their any particular holidays you were thinking or anything you can think of that would help with that?

@ lily

while i support your idea.

i think other holidays from other countries should be added along side the american holidays. because people from american , japna , china , poland , etc play wolvden too.

Like I said, I would absolutely be ok with incorporating foreign holidays as well if they could fit encounter-wise. Was their a particular holiday you were thinking? I'm not overly familiar with holidays outside of Canada.

Could be a fun way to introduce new items, especially using any holiday around the world. Would be kind of educational.
