I Wonder, As The Game Playerbase Gets Bigger, Its Gonna Be Harder To Keep Track Of These Traveling Wolves.

I have to say I'm really disappointed in how travelling wolf scammers (and promise transaction scammers in general) are handled. I know the site has a very hands off approach when it comes to transactions but it infuriates me that there's no site-sanctioned way to know about scammers until you yourself are scammed and then there's nothing rhat can be done about it. Because there are little to no punishments handed out for these, people just keep getting away with it and nothing ever gets resolved.

I understand not allowing for players to call out other users on these things since it promotes hate against the named users and people can always go to far. I don't think that users should be allowed to make callouts or talk about it in chat. But I think the level of action the mods and admins are taking against the scammers - which is to say little to none - is incredibly irresponsible when paired with this rule.

I don't think there's an easy fix to this, but while the mods and admins remain inactive against promise scammers it'll keep happening and more and more users will lose trust with them. The mods and admins do not want to help the victims and this only plays into the scammers hands as they keep getting away with it.

I guess what you could do is report the other player for scamming? That's really all you can do though.

It's why even though I thought the idea of traveling wolves was cool, I never joined in. Whoever the wolf goes to has all the power to just delete them (even if most players wouldn't), so I wouldn't want to use a wolf I like as a traveler, and then why would I bother making a wolf I don't like a traveler? Idk that's just my thoughts on it

Yeah I...gotta agree with Embers here. I don't do traveling wolves but this just gives more reason for people to ruin it. I understand why blacklisting isn't allowed on site, but there should be some sort of consequence to being an ass on here. Traveling wolves are fun for those involved and it sucks that a few rotten apples can turn the whole thing sour.

Other than that I appreciate the news update and encourage ya'll to keep up the good work!

Gotta agree with Embers & Bakugou on this! Yes we all understand the why's of these decisions, but it's still frustrating that we can do absolutely nothing about the thefts/losses. We can't even talk about it, you are silencing our frustrations and that just bodes deeper resentment. Meanwhile the one doing the thefts/scams doesn't even get a message from the overwatchers that makes sure to silence the victimsΒ  in chat...doesn't look good on WD team.

Who would I pm if I wanted to donate a wolf for the next Wolvden raffle?

I definitely agree that WD's response to scammers is disappointing. For an example that doesn't involve traveling wolves, there was an incident where a player was scamming others out of items. The scam victims quickly reported the scammer, but it took the moderators a while to investigate the incident (following the trail of DMs and trades and such). Thus, there were many hours where the scammer was still "at large" and free to continue scamming people. When some of the scam victims tried to warn others in chat, they were modded immediately for saying negative things about another player.

Kinda speaks to the site's priorities: it's more important to keep chat looking like a hugbox than to maintain a fair gameplay environment.

It's not sufficient to say "just block them and move on" when other people are still actively being scammed, especially since not all scams can be reversed by the mods (e.g., a wolf being chased or consumable items being used up). The TOS should be modified to allow people to speak about these kinds of things publicly in order to protect other players from further abuse.

I agree, I have travelers that i sent out today, and I have no idea if I'm ever going to get them back! The least WD could do is pm the scammer to ask to give the wolf back at LEAST.
