A Leader's Questions...

Posted 2020-12-23 13:36:41 (edited)

Nyx blinks at the question, falling deep into her own thoughts as she ponders the answer wordlessly. There are many reasons why she has chosen to reside in the mountains, but not one of them is connected to the dangers her pack has experienced since the female took the lands as her own. "There are countless dangers in the mountains, but I suppose no territory is perfect," she begins philosophically, dipping her head as her yellow-eyed mate coughs out a laugh. "The winters here can be treacherous and deadly if the wolves are not prepared. There may not be enough food to keep everyone healthy and the overall lack of prey can bring unwanted challenges. Then, there are illnesses; while the mountains provide clean and fresh air to keep the pack used for the cold, the wind can quickly wound our pups and retired hunters," it is not easy to admit that she is not a perfect Alpha and cannot keep her family safe from nature's ill-will, yet the list goes on as Nyx looks at the ground in front of her, tilting her head to the side a little. "Of course, there are the cliffs, too; a danger to any curious pup if their sitter is not keeping an eye on them. There are many predators waiting for a weak, defenceless pup to wander away from its parents and fall pretty to a hungry bear or a group of lawless coyotes," these dangers, Nyx supposes, are present in any territory and are not unusual or never heard of.

With an impatient flick of her ear, she raises her head to look at the wolves around her, olive eyes scanning the group as she thinks; maybe, it is time to slowly guide the conversation away from such grim, depressing topics. "Why did you choose your mate? Was is a strictly business-oriented arrangement, or was there a deeper involvement?" Seth has been a part of her life even before the pack came to be and she is immensely thankful for that; even so, Nyx is aware of the stories where wolves just band together out of necessity instead of anything pure and untainted as feelings.

Magic turned her to the wolf that ask the question.

" for me i choose my mate  on what he can do for the pack.  several of my pack members are waiting to be on a bonded pair." says Magic.

Magic and several pack members are waiting to be in bonded pair. She is working on how to work the pair bonds in the pack law in her pack.

Magic did choose her mate based on what he can do for the pack and that he wasn't related to any of the pack members.

turning her head to a wolf she asks " how do you handle disagreements in a pair bond" she asks.

Scathos frowned, then huffed. He really didn't like this question, though he supposed he'd have to answer it. "Arguments are rare between our pair bonded. As there's a strict process one must go through to gain a pair bond. In hope of lessening fights, and providing strong pups should they chose to breed." He gave his lips a lick before continuing. "Though there are ways to handle a disagreement. different levels if you will. I'm not going to go into detail, but it starts with mediation with an unaffected wolf that's not related to or friends with either wolf and end with - if no solution can be found - the pair bond is broken."

Shaking his head of the darker thoughts that crept up into his mind, he turned his gaze around, glancing from wolf to wolf. "Are there any ranks in your pack that others might call odd?" He knew that he possibly did, the packs sage or seer as some called her was their mouthpiece of the gods. They spoke to her, and she told them what the gods decreed. It was a well-respected rank - though rather new - despite the first and current holder of said rank wasn't even two years old yet.

Rain thought for a moment, glancing around, ears alert. "Well, it may be 'odd' because it is a hold-over from my old pack. They're called Guides, only one per generation. The title is currently held by my mate, Crystal." The white shewolf tipped her head at her mention. "Basically, they are in charge of magic and omens. They learn the ways of the land, and the spirits that reside in it, and use that to guide and heal the pack. They also interpret omens and messages from the stars, Lýkos in particular. They take what they see, and use it to try to help the pack." She knew it probably sounded crazy, but it was just their ways.

Rain glanced around once more, before settling on one wolf to ask the next question. "Who do you follow? As in, spirits, gods, nature itself? Who guides your pack?" She was aware in these lands gods weren't very common, most packs seemed to worship their ancestors.

For the first time since he joined this meeting, the young leader Numen seemed to perk up. Finally, something he could answer in confidence. "Lycan!" He blurted, almost too excited before he forced himself to calm, self-conscious of his actions. "Pardon, I mean my pack and I follow the god Lycan. He is a huge, beastly wolf that walks on two paws and looks down on us from the moon. He values power and respect and grants those with it a place with him in the stars. Some of his children are down on the ground with us too and are predisposed to being leaders just due to his blood. I'm apparently one of them, but I don't really understand how that works..." He stopped before he got too preachy. He only wished he got to learn more about the god before Latro died and took his knowledge with him, seemingly the only prophet of Lycan.

He turned to another wolf, quickly wracking his brain for a new question to continue the meeting. "Um, who do you feel closest to in your pack and why?" He tilted his head, white eyes full of curiosity.

Rye pricks his ears against the question he's asked, suddenly feeling a blooming of heat under his fur as he rocks to and fro on his paws. Who does he feel closest to... The answer is obvious, of course—he feels closest to his shithead of a mate, who he'd met out in the wilderness nearly two years ago. Time sure does fly, doesn't it? "I'm definitely closest to my mate, Magpie. He and I met way back. It took a freakishly long time to get together, but we're actually growing a family right now." He puffs his chest out, pride swelling in him as he thinks of their two sons and their newest daughter, and then with a soft smile he shakes his head and lowers his gray-blue gaze, quieting in his boasting to move on to the next question.

He turns to the side, locking eyes with the wolf across from him with a curious lift of his brows. He hadn't really thought of any sort of question beforehand, so with an awkward chuckle he casually makes one up on the fly. "Have you ever thought about moving your pack? Is there anything that holds you back from doing so—and where's your dream location?"

Magic turning her head to wolf that ask the question.

" i feel close to Betty. because we formed the pack together. " she says.

Betty and Magic formed the Noel Winter Eve pack. they were the first members of the pack.

" she is my best friend and the one you can count on" Magic says.

In her pack when a pack member dies , they get buried in their special place. She has been curious on how other pack handle a death of beloved pack member. " how does your pack handle the death of  a beloved pack member"? she asks.
