Cinnamon sat at the window of her house, ignoring the Twoleg kit offering her a squeaky mouse toy. On the third time the kit pawed at her, she turned and stalked away through the pet door. The other kittypets were all snoring at this time, but Cinnamon couldn't sleep. She wanted something that couldn't be described as anything else but freedom. She didn't want to wake up every morning and see the windows, a transparent barrier between her and the Outside World, as the other kittypets called it. She'd heard rumours of cats living in groups called Clans, and was pretty fascinated by it, but whatever kittypet she asked clammed up and made an excuse to rush off into their house. Cinnamon sniffed at the large hedge lining the wooden fence, wondering if she might be able to scale it and leap over.

Apprentices weren't supposed to be out this far on their own, his mind reminded him as he padded through the forest, yet it wasn't enough to want to draw him back to camp. What was the harm in a little exploration? Nothing, he decided. He would just explore his territory a bit, gather the moss and feathers he collected for the elders den, and return to camp before the sun went down! It was flawless! Sort of. But honestly what did they expect him to do?! Spend his whole day redoing the elders den?!

Making up her conflicted mind at last, she leaped up on to the hedges, cast one last look at her home, then slipped silently over the fence, starting to run as soon as her paws hit the ground. She noticed things that she had never noticed when sitting at the window; how soft the grass was underpaw, how sweet the air smelled, how loud but harmonious the birds could be, and how the moon looked like a big fat saucer of milk with large hole-like markings on it. She tucked her paws close to her body, starting to roll gleefully on the ground. When she finally stood up again, the Outside World forest stood towering above her. She inhaled sharply, glancing around to make sure no one saw her. When Cinnamon was sure she wasn't being watched, she slipped inside it, trotting around and sniffing the strange scents.

(it is nighttime then, right?)

Rushpaw knew that wasn't going to happen. It was a beautiful night out! He wasn't going to miss it. He'd just wished his brother would have come along with him. It would have been more fun if he had. But Buzzardpaw got assigned patrol duty for the morning, so he refused to leave the den and get that right taken away. And so here he was on his own, padding through the forest with no particular agenda. It was as he drew to the edge of the forest towards the twolegplace that he caught a new scent in the soft night breeze. He was quick to spot some mud, rolling in it to rid him of his scent before slipping into the undergrowth and heading towards the scent, being sure to stay low.

(Yup)

The annoying bell fastened on Cinnamon's collar tinkled softly as she explored the bonanza of scents - there were so many new things here! She sniffed at a small insect, which promptly turned and bit her sharply on the nose. The kittypet jerked her head back, not exactly hurt, but startled. "Rude," She murmured, making sure not to disturb any insects. The bell on her collar jingled again, as if reminding and reprimanding her that no house cats were supposed to explore this far out. But she couldn't stop now! Maybe if I hang around a bit more I'll find a Clan cat... she thought, leaping onto her hind legs to place her front paws on a tree, sniffing it intently. There. The bark had some scratch marks, like it was used as a scratching post. And it also had a distinct smell of a cat... Cinnamon frowned and sniffed it again. No... multiple cats.

The tingle of the collar made it unmistakeable for the young cat to place the intruder. A kitty pet. Had to be. It wasn't often a kittypet strayed into their borders, or so he heard anyways. Especially one with a bell. He drew closer to the sound before he spotted her, the little she-cat sniffing part of their markers. He looked around a moment. where are your twolegs? they never strayed far... especially not with the tingling sound. "I'd go home if I were you" he finally piped up after deciding she wasn't a threat. "Or at least ditch that collar before you alert half the forest to your arrival." He hummed, peering out from around a bush, his tail curling intently around him.

Cinnamon jumped a foot in the air, whipping around as her hackles rose. "I would if I could figure out a way to get it off," She meowed. "And who are you, anyway? Wait - are you a Clan cat?" Her hackles lay flat and she studied the other cat. "What's your name? I know that you Clan cats have two-syllable names, so what is is.... Tabbystripe? Fluffyfur?"

"Tabbyfur?" He burst out laughing, amusement glistening in his eyes. "That's the best thing I've heard all night. No, it doesn't really work like that. Plus those would be warrior names. I'm still an apprentice, you don't earn your full name until you become a warrior. All apprentices have paw at the end of their name. I'm Rushpaw!"

"So... even a kitten would be called 'paw?" Cinnamon tilted her head.
