Personally, I've found three of mine in the mountains, and Coniferous Forest, but I'm not certain if there's a better place to find them?

I've found two so far in the Taiga. I don't think it matters where you look as long as you are looking at night.

I found all caves without problem in the Mountains; however its important that this encounter is found only at night, exploring at day you dont have any chance to see one! 		Mad Hyena

I haven't found any caves since yesterday. I thought it might have been because of that, since my new lead wolf was only level 1 (i chose an adolescent to replace her), but now that I've read this, it might not have been the case, or has everyone else had a lead wolf retire?

I've been exploring exclusively at night (even letting energy go to waste as to not explore during the day) and I still only found 1 cave yesterday. I think they were made far less common than they used to be.

I found 3 in the Glacier the two bars after taking the quest, then none for ages, now my third after seing this, noticing it was night and giving it another try

I've had the cave quest for two days now and still haven't come across any and I have explored every biome that was available. If it is made to be rarer on purpose, then that's just unfair because caves gave useful items and a good amount of quartz as currency, now that I don't come across them anymore it means that it will take longer to get the event currency now... It doesn't feel fun anymore now that it became harder, I'm scared I might not have enough quartz to buy the markings and bases in Tier 3.

I'd argue that it was made harder intentionally too.

I used a lot of full energy bars on the 15th. Like, almost as much as possible. It really feels like the rate of the caves seemed to have dropped. I used to get at least 1 cave per energy bar, and when I got the quest, it turned into more like 1 per 3-5 energy bars. I got near RO and was stressing about it (unnecessarily, but that's how I am,) so I felt the need to use a spare guarana and was able to find my last cave within about 20 energy.

The reason why I mention that specifically is because I immediately turned the quest in, finished the rest of the storyline (for now) and used the last 80-ish of my energy. And proceeded to find the cave 2-3 more times in that 80 energy, now that I didn't need them.

Like yeah, I'm fully willing to admit it could be anecdotal, and fair enough it probably is, but come on. What kind of sick coincidence even is that lol.
