Chased Wolf Chat

@zampa
I agree! People who R&C (Like me) devote a lot of resources towards raising good wolves so that they can (hopefully) make it into the pool. It's a completely generous act; we're doing this for other people to have the opportunity to find a good NBW. But when normal NBWs make it into the pool instead, it's very frusterating.
They don't need to be in the pool, because it's practically the same as a regular NBW encounter. The only thing special about rechased NBWs is that they were previously owned by another player. That's it, though. They're the same as a normal NBW, trait-wise. So why should they be added to the pool?

I really think they should remove this feature. I just feel so disappointed whenever I see some average NBW with a purple star. :(

I agree that there should maybe be a way of getting rid of undesirable wolves from the pool, but I'm not sure preventing rechased NBWs from entering it is the best way. How would that work exactly? When a wolf is claimed, an invisible flag is placed on the wolf, and then when it's chased, the site checks for that flag and deletes any wolf that's flagged? I think there are some special nbws that get rechased that some people would actually like to have. Or what about a person who claims a wolf and adds some RMAs, breeds some pups using it, and then chases it before it dies in the hopes it gets rerolled and can live again as someone's wolf?

Maybe that last situation is unlikely, but I do think that the former situation should be acknowledged (that is, that a glass-eyed t1 with points or whatever might still be desirable and doesn't necessarily need to be deleted from the pool.)

This might be a bad idea, but what if we each manually were able to decide whether the wolves we chase have a chance to appear in the pool? I'm sure there would be some people who would choose 'no' and permanently delete a nice wolf, but I doubt it would happen a huge amount. And sure, some people would put everything they chase into the pool, but not everyone would do that, and as it stands, that's already happening now. Just a thought, though.

@Tappioka is really nice to find players that think like me, and those considerations are very reasonable, just like @Alex mentioned in the chased wolf spotting topic.
If we get a bit more of support from those who r&c we might talk to the developers, they can -maybe- change this scenario!

@Katie Honestly Is hard to see a nbw with that kinda of investment, unless is already a chased one with some cool features or a carrier. Anyhow, their pups will aways be able to get that feactures and being raised and chased.
But.. I read once about a "Paradise" button or something, this name is more something like what exist in other online game I play but the idea is the same. This button would send the wolf to a "better place" where it could be only visualized, would not be into the pool or void.
Not sure if players would like this and use it if no reward is offered on doing it, but could work if we get small amounts of currency or amusement itens by sending a wolf to the paradise. It could help some players to build their packs better and avoid common nbw to get into the pool since you would be rewarded on pressing a different button on the same page you would be kicking out the wolf.

@Katie I sort of see your point. But I think the game auto-generates enough starred NBW on its own that those don't necessarily need rechasing. I think I mentioned on the other chased thread a while back that I think the original intention/hope of chasing NBW was that people would modify/add markings and chase so other players could get new markings/combos. But that doesn't really happen as far as I can tell.

I know it's a case of RNG and "can't win 'em all", but when I level grind my lead to find chased and spend most of my energy while exploring on trying to hit the befriend/sweet smell encounters and get nothing for days, if not weeks, it really annoys me. Of course, that's my fault, but chased/new bloodlines are my favorite mechanic of the site and having it such a hit or miss game of luck isn't my usual idea of fun. That's kind of just me ranting tho lol.

@Zampa I think a "paradise" or wildlife refuge option would be great. I only played Lioden for a couple days but I liked their multiple options. It sounds bad but I wouldn't even mind a kill button (or like... a nicer name but you know) rather than starving/boring an undesired wolf I don't want in the chase pool until it leaves on its own. Especially since the new snake quests occasionally give out a befriend wolf quest! That irks me almost more than the battle trophy request haha.

I agree that a multiple-starred wolf probably should not be deleted outright if chased.  That is my play-style, after all.

And while we could debate the merits of one wolf or another based on aesthetics alone or stat reroll chances, et cetera... we could probably agree as a community: seeing a Rarity 6 akin to a markingless, base tier 1 wolf isn't exciting.

It is definitely frustrating to have limited ways currently to shoo a wolf we no longer desire.  For me, that takes the shape of checking for Albinism or checking the Slot of Points/Smoke/Shaded.  As others have doubtlessly mentioned, it is not fun to starve a wolf nor spend SC to Retire prior to 5+ years of age.  It simply is not.

So regardless of how you may feel about attempting stat rerolls or age rerolls or aesthetics, it feels lacking, unfulfilling, unfinished... perhaps?  I, too, look forward to more options.

I remember reading somewhere in the Development suggestions there could be some sort of permanent Enclave for adult wolves, where you can give them away and get a reward in return, or to help a team climb up a leaderboard by getting points depending on the wolf's stats/appearance. There are certainly some alternatives that could be implemented, but in the end it's up to the devs if that's the route they intend for this game to take.

But yeah, especially now with the newly added quest that requires you to befriend a new wolf, the chased nbw influx will probably be increasing. I do appreciate the option to quickly get rid of undesired pack members instead of neglecting them until they eventually leave. While also, I acknowledge the fact that R&C is a play style choice based on exploiting this option because we like to give everyone the opportunity of getting a nice surprise every now and then.

It's a phenomenon that probably wasn't anticipated to occur as often as it does now, especially with a whole community and events around it, so I get why it might not be as simple to assign R&Cs more value than the rest of chased wolves, because that would also mean recognizing them as part of the actual gameplay, if that makes sense.

Oh, an off-topic chased spotting chatter thread! Good idea!

The simplest would be to have two buttons: chase into pool and chase into the void. Pretty sure there's a Dev suggestion thread about it too.
One of the wolves I'll chase as soon as she weans (because she's old) is a regular NBW that I selene-based. It'd be a shame if she was automatically deleted for sure (she still might not enter the pool, but... she might).

Also I don't mind rechased (as long as I know they don't lower my chance at "good" chased); rechased sometimes have good stats, if not good markings; I once got (and kept) a black markingless wolf just because he had 270+s at 1yo; and some people actually look for markingless wolves.
If you want to know the probably of chased compared to regular or chased NBWs, there is the NBW chances thread

@Fal funny you mentioned that I have a whole thread about marking less wolves, that was my entire den before I started in with merles

yeah, as a beginner I tended to like markingless wolves too, because the T2 and T3 bases are super pretty on their own, and it seemed wasteful to have a 7*merle wolf where only the top two markings are visible and the base is not, and then I got corrupted by market value :D
At some point I had two caves/breeding project, one for wolves with as many markings as possible (though at that time my most marked wolf probably had 4), and one with as few as possible. Then it became way too complicated with my other breeding projects and I had to merge them.
