Koala's Battle Guide using the Bite + Wait method [Updated for battle rework]

Posted 2021-04-09 12:27:51

So it looks like the mods did a bit of updating today, the biggest adjustment being that fearless / aggressive animals did not appear to be recieving the modifiers properly when paired with the 'slow' modifier. What this means is that Bears and Walrus' and probably quite a few more opponents (I'm stuck in glacier still!) will be a touch harder, as they will now have a -1 fearless modifier to the wait/rest roll to cancel out their +1 slow modifiers.

I'll be updating the guide as soon as I can, but until then be careful of fearless and aggressive opponents and pay attention to your modifiers!

They probably going to make battles harder again.

They will be slightly harder but, to be honest those specific battles really did need to be nerfed a bit. With a lucky foot and a basic bleed on a bear it was a 100% chance to succeed at 'rest' and 'wait', which made bears the easiest opponents I'd ever had the pleasure of fighting. Bears are supposed to be difficult enemies, so that 100% chance with a lucky foot is going to go down to roughly 80% chance to succeed with a lucky foot which is still not awful!

And if you get the Snarl or Chase off, the chance will still be 100% so for people who want to be careful about which fights you pick if you're low on salves/feet, you can enter a battle and try the first move, run if you don't succeed, and enjoy your free win if you do.

Thanks for the guide, it looks very useful!
Do bleed stack, or do only ever get a +1 modifier total even when they bled twice?

Just a note, after two battles I have yet to see an enemy get the bleed status after a successful bite.  My wolf just rolls base damage with every bite.

Opponent Bleeding Once - Opponent Wounded +1
Opponent Bleeding Twice - Opponent Badly Wounded +2 - does NOT stack with Panicked, but does stack with Focus
*Edit: This modifier applies to attempting to Rest or Escape if Grappled; Grappling is able to potentially not happen through high Agility (Bear, Anaconda)
Fearless Opponents are good to use Focus on as there is no negative modifier to it versus Snarl... even my not Smart wolf can get the Focus on Bears to work.

Bite always "works", it simply does not cause the +Bleed unless you roll at least 4/6 on the Dice.
I have had 5 damage on a roll of 1/6 - so this means the Dice 4/6 for Bleed is just a chance.  Haven't personally seen a Bonus to the Bite move itself yet.
