Eveningpaw // Location: OakClan Camp // Mentions: Flowingoak

Eveningpaw was about to doze off, eyes closing when a sudden, hushed voice startled her awake. She peered at the tom, recognizing him as Flowingoak. Eveningpaw opened her pale blue eyes. "I'm awake," She meowed politely, sitting up in her bed. "Actually, I was awake, I didn't see you," She admitted, lowering her head politely.

FLOWINGOAK // LOCATION: OAKCLAN CAMP // MENTIONS: EVENINGPAW

Flowingoak smiled. "That's alright. I tend to blend in with the tree I sleep in." He purred deeply, gesturing with his muzzle for her to step out of the den.

The first rays of sunlight were starting to peek over the canopies, and some early birds began to sing. "Did anything specific wake you up early, like a nightmare, or did you just conveniently rise before the sun?" The large tom asked quietly, starting to walk into the forest.

Eveningpaw // Location: OakClan Camp // Mentions: Flowingoak

Eveningpaw stepped out of the den, following Flowingoak. "Nothing in particular. Just the cold. Leaf-bare is always hard." She shivered, fluffing up her fur. The sunlight helped much, warming her slightly, though the sun's light was still cold and watery. "What about you, Flowingoak?" She mewed. "Did something wake you up?"

Leafstar || OakClan || Leader || Location: Camp outskirts || Mentions: N/A

He was never meant for the limelight.

Unbeknownst of most of his clan, the tom dreaded his position as leader. But things had escalated so fast following the ominous death of his brother- Maplestar picked him so suddenly, and he didn't know what to do. There was quite a bit of shock blinding him in those moments, fogging his brain. The senior warriors had encouraged him, leaving him with little but no choice to accept. He couldn't disrespect them. But when he wanted to step down-

Why did Maplestar have to go and die so suddenly? The bicolor leader bit his lip as he stared questioningly at the horizon. His old predecessor was admittedly tank-like. Not even a war was capable of killing the ancient leader, but when he suddenly had a new deputy...he just had to pass away, right at the worst moment. Leafstar was left without any option but to assume leadership and do his best to unite his clan under the pressure of war. A change of leadership now would be a foolish idea. They just needed to get through this. Those two petty clans just had to drag us into their mess...

Bearheart || PeakClan || Med Cat || Location: Camp|| Mentions: N/A

War was a messy thing, and Bearheart...well, he was stuck being the janitor of it all. Cleaning up his clanmates, putting them all back together, and then letting them run off to make the same mistakes all over again. He did miss being a warrior, longing for the satisfaction of leaving his own mark on those LakeClan tyrants, but StarClan had (supposedly) picked him for a higher purpose. The cat who had mentored him for a short term, that old medicine cat...sometimes Bearheart wondered if he lost his wits. He had made a fine warrior for several moons, mentoring his own handful of apprentices and making them talented warriors in turn. Medicine cat life- it was suited for a cat of Bearheart's caliber. He was needed out there, on the battlefield.

StarClan, I don't even know the name of half of these...weeds. The previous medicine cat's passing was unfortunate. The warrior had limited medical knowledge, and was left as a helpless medicine cat in his predecessor's stead. He could have picked an adolescent more talented than me, really. Bearheart clumsily pushed the stack of dried herbs into a crevice in the stony wall using an obnoxiously large paw, biting his lip as the stack tumbled over. ...They didn't look like good leaves, anyways.

Now he needed to go out and try to match them up to a living and growing plant, to try to replace the herbs. Not like he knew their purpose, anyways- just that they were supposedly important. The battle-scarred medicine cat rose to his paws with an absent-minded sigh before ducking out of the medicine cat den. Maybe I can assist a warrior patrol on the way out.

FLOWINGOAK // LOCATION: OAKCLAN TERRITORY // MENTIONS: EVENINGPAW

Flowingoak shook his head, gazing out at the towering trees. "I always wake up around this time." He murmured, looking out for any movements. "It gives me an almost... satisfactory feeling, you know?"

Closing his eyes briefly, he looked back at the apprentice, a smile warmer than the Greenleaf sun on his face. "Anywho, what do you feel about having a little patrol before the others wake up? Oakclan is quite sluggish during bareleaf, like the prey, so you don't have to worry about them becoming active as soon as we leave." The tom added with a hearty chuckle, his tail brushing against the ground lightly.

Eveningpaw // Location: OakClan Territory // Mentions: Flowingoak

Eveningpaw nodded slowly, looking up at the slowly rising sun. She glanced at Flowingoak, who caught her gaze, a warm smile on his face. She smiled back, the smile growing wider as he suggested patrolling. "Of course!" She mewed happily, tail held high. She danced around, jogging lightly in a circle. She returned to Flowingoak's side. "I mean, why not?"

FLOWINGOAK // LOCATION: OAKCLAN TERRITORY // MENTIONS: EVENINGPAW

Flowingoak chuckled once more, blue eyes sparkling at the apprentice's enthusiasm.

Ah, sometimes I wish I was an apprentice again, just to feel the constant carefree once more. However, I enjoy being the deputy of my clan, serving it to the best of my ability. He thought, letting out an inaudible sigh through his nose.

"Well, why are we standing here? Some running will surely warm you up." He flicked Eveningpaw's nose with his fluffy tail and began cantering into the undergrowth. He was heading towards the river that ran into Lakeclan's territory; it'd be good to see what those no-good water-dwellers were up to.

Eveningpaw // Location: OakClan Territory // Mentions: Flowingoak

Eveningpaw followed enthusiastically, trotting lightly to keep up the pace. She flicked her tail nervously as they crossed over to LakeClan. "Won't we get in trouble if we get caught here?" She meowed. She sniffed the air, but LakeClan's scent was faint. They weren't anywhere near. She allowed herself to relax.

FLOWINGOAK // LOCATION: OAKCLAN/LAKECLAN BORDER // MENTIONS: EVENINGPAW

Flowingoak shook his head. "Nope. As long as we stay on our side of the border, even by a hair length, they have no reason to attack us." He assured the apprentice and slowed down into a sort of cautious walk.

Mouth opening slightly, he drank in the scents nearby, ears perked. Lakeclan was further 'inland', yes, but their camp was closer to their side of the border than the one they shared with Peakclan. Everything seemed silent, almost in an eery way.

Did something happen between Lakeclan and Peakclan? He wondered briefly, whiskers twitching.

The large tom looked back at Eveningpaw. "You can usually hear faint conversation coming from their camp, because they tend to be quite loud cats sometimes, but I'm not hearing anything." He whispered, looking at where the river crossed the borders, leading to Lakeclan's lake further back.

After a few more moments of silence, he cleared his throat, pelt prickling uneasily. "Maybe we should... go check out Peakclan's border." He murmured, and continued walking.

Eveningpaw // Location: OakClan/LakeClan Border // Mentions: Flowingoak

Eveningpaw's tail twitched uneasily as she heard Flowingoak speak. "I don't know," She mewed nervously, scenting the air. She pricked up her ears...nothing. She glanced at Flowingoak, following.

As they neared the PeakClan border, Eveningpaw flicked her ears, listening hard. She sniffed the air. "Where are they? Why..." She trailed off. "Do you think PeakClan and LakeClan have been fighting?"
