Suggestion: Wolf NPCs based on Famous RL Wolves

Suggestion: Wolf NPCs based on Famous RL Wolves
Posted 2021-03-07 06:44:23 (edited)

This is mostly a suggestion to the devs, I'm sure they might've had this idea already but just incase they haven't, here it is:

Other than Tala, we don't have any friendly Wolf NPCs as of now, so here are a few suggestions for real life wolves that could have a guest appearance, either as Event or Explore NPCs. (I/E for an Ancestor type Event.)

Some of the Wolves in question:

0-six (832f)

0-six (or '06) was an extraordinary she-wolf who started something big with her death, and while I'm not the greatest at writing in detail about her story, I suggest googling her name.

Spitfire (926f)
Daughter of 832f (0-six). While you're googling about 0-six her daughter might be mentioned as the "heiress" to her mother as she took over as one of the leads after her mothers shooting. 926f was sadly killed in the same way as her mother.

White Lady
White Lady got to be the age of 12 before she was illegally shot and mortally injured, having researchers to be forced to put her down to keep her from suffering. She was most recognizable due to her rare white coat but also a rather fascinating wolf as she managed to live roughly twice the average wild wolf lifespan out in the wild.

Casanova (302m)
302m was known as a black, Casanova Wolf. Normally, wolves settle for one mate and then bond for life, however 302m was not one such wolf. He wasn't as strong as rival Male Wolves, but he was known for being rather bold when approaching the Druid Pack, one of the largest wolf packs and is believed to had sire the most pups than any other wolf in Yellowstone.

Journey (OR-7)
After the wolf left his pack in 2011, he wandered generally southwest for more than 1,000 miles (1,600 km) through Oregon and northern California. He was the first confirmed wild wolf in western Oregon since 1947 and the first in California since 1924.

21m
21m, was one of the first pups born in Yellowstone, starred in 3 National Geographic films, and was alpha to the infamous Druid peak pack

Given that there are so many iconic and well-known wolves in life, I’d absolutely love to see this! Perhaps even a full event dedicated to it? If not, absolutely a semi-regular event like the Lunar event.

I’d love to see NPCs designed and inspired by real wolves! They could be ghosts you occasionally encounter in explore, and interacting with them could prompt them to tell you their stories or give you advice based on their lives. I can see 21M stressing the importance of being a good lead, or 302M talking about his career as a famous stud/breeding male ROFL

Another thing I’ve considered before myself, when or if human involvement is ever canonically confirmed, is the inclusion of concepts like sanctuaries, ambassadors, or breeding programs. Explore encounters vaguely implying and referencing the existence of things like the IWC or WCC could be awesome too lmao

Love this idea! I think it would be a cool way to incorporate some real life facts and maybe get more people interested in doing their own research on wolves in the real world -

even if Wolvden doesn't ever canonically involve humans it would be a fun reference I think ^^

I love this idea, may I suggest you add OR-7 (Journey)? I don't know much about this boy, but he managed to travel about 1,000 miles across the Pacific Northwest. He was pretty famous for a while there, and there was even a book written about him, A Wolf Called Wander!
