Song Thrush sat in front of her den, looking around at her packmates that were present. One hunting party was out, and Edelweiss was looking for some specific herbs. One of the scouts, Lion, was sick and had been moved temporarily to the quarantine cave.

The other scout, Constance, was nearly old enough to be officially an elder. The lead wolf had realized just how old the snowy wolf was a few days ago, and that a new scout would have to be appointed in her place. Soon enough, half of her most skilled hunting party would be in a similar place, and then the herbalist too.

She needed to decide on replacements, and it was the last thing she wanted to do.

Song Thrush approached Shepherd, a pupsitter but more importantly her oldest friend. She told him that she was going to head to the mountains for a while, and he would be in charge in her absence. With that, she began the trek south. She also took her daughter Canna, who wanted to be the next herbalist. Since Edelweiss was busy, Song Thrush would guide her in gathering herbs for the time being.

Eventually, the pair of wolves reached the territory of another pack, lead by Sierra. She didn't know if Kieran was out scouting or at home, but it was him she wanted to speak to. Motioning for Canna to stay put, Song Thrush approached the camp of Power Prowl, entering in a respectful and non-threatening manner. These were her friends, of course, but if Shadow was here, it was best to be obviously friendly. She planned to call Canna back when she had decided it was both safe and worth staying for a while.

Oddly enough, it wasn't Shadow who spotted her first, it was Naledi. Since she had temporarily given up her scouting role to Sonic, she took to helping out around the pack and even helping Shadow with patrols when he was out hunting or was too tired, the latter seeming to be more common now that he was getting older.

Either way, she ran to tell Sierra of the new arrival, and in a couple minutes, Sierra and Kieran had joined Song Thrush. Sierra smiled. "Hello! It's good to see you again, Song Thrush!" the Power Prowl Alpha greeted.

Kieran nodded, agreeing with her. "Yes, it's always good to see you."

Song Thrush nodded and wagged her tail. "Thank you. I'm glad to see you guys again too." She turned her head back to where she had left Canna, sitting partially concealed in the minimal understory. "Canna, we're good," she yipped, and the warm yellow adolescent walked up to her mother, dipping her head respectfully at the adults, both strangers to her aside from what her mother had told her about Power Prowl.

"So, I came to tell you a little about what I'm planning for my pack... because I'm debating moving farther north. I haven't announced it to anyone because I might still stay in the forest." Canna didn't look surprised, since she, along with her siblings, had been told already. "And it won't be happening soon, I'm sure. I need to save up food for a failsafe if we can't hunt well enough to feed the pack.

"And I think I'll keep from moving until Constance... well, until she passes away. I wouldn't want to force such a trip on her. You know, she's been scouting still, saying she's fine, but she's definitely more tired, and I'm worried she's overworking herself..." Realizing she had begun rambling, Song Thrush stopped and took a breath.

"Anyway, I know you know that I like the cold, as do most of my pack, and the taiga would provide a more open sky. And of course, this wouldn't mean we'd be seeing much less of each other. The mountains are full of things the snake asks for constantly.

"And, I guess I came as well to... spend a day or two here. If that's alright with you," she added specifically to Sierra. "I would have brought Conness with me, and is a bit disappointed, but hunting is critical right now. Saving food for winter and all. And Canna wanted to meet you and your pack." Canna nodded, giving them a smile, her tongue sticking out between her teeth.

"Anyway, I apologize for rambling on for so long." Song Thrush laughed nervously, finally pausing so Sierra and Kieran could respond.

"You're fine," Sierra assured her friend. "We would enjoy having you here for a little while. And remember, if you do move up there and are struggling for food, I can always bring you some extra. We might end up having a bit of a slow time ourselves, since Mephiles and Mini were added to the smaller team, and then Naledi offered up her scouting spot to Sonic so we could figure out the glacier. Also, Shadow is getting up there in years and once he goes that team will lose their best finisher. But we'll always do the best we can to help."

Kieran nodded. "That's why Naledi was out on patrol, Shadow might not like it but we're trying to make sure he saves his energy for hunting. And also, I think the rest of the pack would enjoy seeing you and meeting Canna."

It was at that moment one of the younger puppies came bumbling out of the small cave that served as Sierra's sleeping place. Sierra smiled as the little pup collapsed against her foot. "Hello, Lia. Do you want to meet my friend?" The puppy stayed leaned up against her mother's foot, not wanting to move away from her mother's warmth (even though it is just her foot lol).

(I mean, ya wanna join? we could decide on some plot in messages and meet your pack or sumthin :p)

Song Thrush nodded in understanding and thanked Sierra for her desire to help whilst Canna bent down to sniff the little puppy. "Hello," the adolescent whispered. Canna hadn't been around any puppies other than her siblings, who were the same age as her so it didn't really count. She had always been torn on whether she'd dislike them or not. She liked things to be calm and quiet, and puppies could be the exact opposite of that, according to her mother.

(Juniper, your lead could be coming to pick up Blue but came a day early if you want?)

Lia looked up at the new face. Who was this? The scent wasn't familiar and so she was confused. She let out a small puppy yawn before standing up and inspecting the newcomer. She might've fallen down a couple of times--- just because she's almost weaned doesn't mean she still won't stumble every now and again--- but that didn't stop her. Kieran kept an eye on the puppy as Sierra talked to Song Thrush about pack updates and the like. Whisper was the new herbalist since Tikal had sadly passed and Naledi had been distraught in the time leading up to and for a little while after Tikal's death. There was also 3 hunting teams, and the second one that had been put into place was learning fast. She even shared how the newest hunting team had hunted down a doe before they even caught a grouse, which was a pleasant surprise.

Song Thrush cast a glance at her daughter, a small pang of worry quickly dissolving. Canna seemed okay, maybe even happy to meet the puppy. She continued the conversation with Sierra, expressing her congratulations and condolences on Sierra's stories, as well as explaining the expanding issues she had been dealing with as the puppies grew up, praising Conness' and Elegy's impressive skills as chasers and White Oak Pack's recent luck with beautiful pups.

Canna kept her eyes on the pup, trying to help her stand up whenever she stumbled. Something about the puppy-- Lia, if she remembered her name right-- was so charming and cute. Not at all as annoying as Canna had feared.
