How To Check For Albino/Melanism Carriers
Posted 2020-11-27 16:06:31
I found there's a new confirmed melanism carrier by checking if there are any new melanistic or albinism pups born and one of the new pups is from a completely different carrier. They're now added to the spreadsheet. |

I tried twice to join a carrier with a melanistic wolf, it is not so difficult to see the mutation. The first time, he appeared on the third and fifth attempts, on the second he came straight on the first and second, I think I will test this for a few more days, maybe it should not be more than 6 attempts and we're spending SC for nothing. |

I scry wolves a max of 5 times. I think what I'll do in the future now that there are two public stud carriers of each mutation is breed to one of them, wait until the pups are adults, scry them each and if any of them are positive I'll breed the pup with the other carrier, but this will be done when I have 50 territory slots most likely. |

3 out of 5 scries showed a Melanistic pup when checking out the parents of the Melanistic stud, so 5 should be plenty without wasting everybodies SC. I'm still working on getting territory, and I still have pups that aren't grown yet to check. |

wolvden.com this is one of the pups I'll scry when they're grown up since her grandfather is The Moof. |

I have 4 pups that could be potential carriers, if I can get enough territory space to house all of them I can test them out as well. |

At 50 territory slots you'll need to start using GC to upgrade - that's when I'm hoping I can begin doing more testing and breeding and see if we get anywhere with them. |

It wouldn't even surprise me if I get slightly impatient and settle for having whatever space I have and make more room by selling some of my no longer needed adults so I can begin testing earlier. Sometimes I wonder if some of those very cheap NBWs on the TC are carriers but no one ever knew. |

Wouldn't be surprised, it wouldn't hurt to try and do a few test scrying with some NBW's and see if anyone gets a positive for one. |
