Increase male wolf value by letting them mentor adolescents

I think this is a great idea! :)

Thank you for the feedback everyone! I'm glad to hear that there is support for this mechanic in the game. :) I hope the devs consider it.

Support! I feel as though there's a lot of controversary around male wolves at the moment, considering that you're only allowed to set 1 for breeding. I think this could help give males a little more "value", other than "pretty, need to gender change into female for pups".

I like the idea for what it will add to the gameplay, but I seem to be an exception as all of my scouts, pupsitters, hunters and Healer are exclusively male, females have little to no value aside from breeders in my pack and if they fail me twice they are yeeted to make space. I find this interesting as I seem to be the exception, and I wasn't aware of that fact.

I don't get why people are saying male wolves are worthless in the game. To me, they are extremely useful. They can't be bred, which means that can always work, all the time, at full capacity, plus I don't feel the need to over-breed because half my wolves are male.

I support! I suggest that it could give the adols they are training some experience in whatever role they're training (scouting, etc) and some extra stats

Also it can give some cool lore ideas, with the herbalist training his successor haha

@Arya

Yup, that is the idea. :) Glad you agree!

@Lannistark and @Kanowyn

Yes, you are both certainly the exception in having largely male packs. The reason, I assume, is that you are not super focused on breeding rare colors/markings to earn currency. Unfortunately for the market, that is what the majority of players are here for (and that was more or less what Lioden turned into over the years, a pet breeding sim) and it is my hope that by giving males more utility, it will cause the mass breeders to stem the flow of pups by making room for more males in their packs without unbalancing the game play for anyone.

Thank you for checking out the suggestion and for your thoughts. :3

I still don't want a lot of males in my pack, but I'd definitely support, if only for curbing a lot of the low value issues males have. Plus I really just want some sort of adolescent mechanic, instead of them just sitting there like a sack of potatoes until they age up.

On a lore basis, it'd be kinda cute, if anything. The females taking care of the pups until they're old enough, then the males raising them after that, until they can contribute to the pack on their own.

Ehh not sure if I'm going, to be honest

While I'm all for something to make males actually worth it, I don't like the idea of the "mentor" role being locked behind males if you get me?

Edit: My reasoning is that the "mentor" role is a very important role overall or at least the idea of it since it's meant to train up your adolescents for extra stats/prof bonuses so locking it behind males only just seems a bit much and really inconvenient mostly to those with the majority of their pack being female because then your just kinda forced to get rid of some of your pack to replace them with males just to get those much-needed stat boosts/prof boosts

No support for the male only mentor. I want a mainly female pack and if mentor is a role I want my females to have that role.

The useless male and pup training can be solved without taking away from female pack members.
