**Remove** ALTER Mandatory Minimum for Stud Service | BIG POST UPDATE

Posted 2020-11-28 03:09:46

Support! I like it to remain as a guide on pricing, but if so it should be regulated and markings "priced" so rare or popular markings have a higher suggested price! But definitely remove the forced minimum - refunds are just tedious.

Yes, please. Undercutting can't be stopped since people still refund huge amounts of SC anyway.

Supporting the suggestion to make pricing more dynamic! Placing a minimum based on base rarity should be enforced, as many tier Is are being studded at the same price as tier IIs. However, I believe the marking based price should be more of a suggestion, since people like me who just opened our studs for public stud would like to keep the price low to generate interest, and then raise.

Support for it being dramatically lowered or even removed. (the limited weekly studding already serves as a form of undercutting protection. It's actually a pretty good system.)

Price-setting just doesn't work since the economy will always dictate the true value of something regardless and this approach leaves many people in a position where they either are required to offer refunds or their stud is simply not competitive at 200 SC. (And like you pointed out, it's rife for abuse.)

Total support. I use search feature for finding studs more than the forums, but refunding isn't reflected in that obviously.  If someone is looking for a budget stud they like the look of, not caring about rarity or stats, then they should be able to use the search feature to find one. And players with a lower valued but 10M stud should have the chance to appear in that search.

Support. A mandatory minimum price on something that's fundamentally driven by players seems really very strange to me.

Like, you can sell items to other players for less than the raccoon pays for them, if you want to. I don't understand why studs should be any different.

Sorry but absolutely not. It would kill the stud market, I may support a lower minimum but absolutely not removing it because this is a game market, which in turn means it's broken as heck. I dont want to see studs eventually turn to nothing- the minimum gives your mind something to hold onto so its less likely to think 'Oh I should just refund this to 1SC' there are a heck of a lot of studs out there and I dont want the stud market to turn into the puppy market.

Edit: Please don't argue with me on this, it's just rude and impolite. Of course, I would totally be fine with the creator of the post talking to me on private and peaceful grounds, I am very bad with people and it makes me very uncomfortable to have people yelling or arguing with me due to my opinion. There are plenty of supports on this thread, no worries! My one no-support isn't going to change anything. I completely respect that you all support and just wanted to add my own opinion. Sorry, sheesh.

I would love to lower the price/change the way stud prices work, but I don't want to remove them.

Definitely support. I see people putting their wolves to 200 only because the game forces them to - just look at how many people offer price cuts, and you can see that there's an issue. Plain and simple, 200 SC is WAY too high for one studding! SC doesn't drop out of the sky, so of course people aren't going to want to stud to a wolf that costs a small fortune.

And as for the stud market being ruined... How so? Everyone still needs studs, and besides, undercutting already exists. There are players who set their prices at 50 SC, and that's for Tier II, 10 markings, mind you. Doesn't matter how high the minimum is set, people are ALWAYS going to get around it. (If I want my wolf to be free to everyone, guess what? I can do that, and the minimum isn't going to stop me.) Having any minimum just means people have to deal with refunds and not having the flexibility to do what they want with their stud. (Not to mention potential scamming.) If someone wants to put it high, they'll do that. But the rest of us should be able to set the price to what WE want to, without needing to either resign ourselves to higher prices or deal with refunds.

And for the record, there are already studs with over 1500 pups, and there's so many Tier IIs that they're practically flying out of players' wazoos. Ruin the stud market, ha. It's already ruined, don't @ me.

@Saeginko

The minimum affects the way you think about the worth of studs-- it's ruined and the very least the mods could do was attempt to fix it for us. Scamming is a legitimate concern- but if you're worried about that then take the proper precautions, use already studded to studs and ask for authentication from previous stud-ees. I could also go into the economics of a real market vs. Wolvden market, which is not the same. What seems convenient is not always best and I've seen it again and again in game markets and would rather not see it further increase here. Remove it when studs have hit bottom, but the rate the price is dropping is at a much slower rate and I respect that. I support a lower minimum but removing is an automatic no for me.

Furthermore, I would far more support a more dynamic minimum that maybe a bit updated with maybe slightly lower prices and/or including bases.

I completely respect your opinion and see where you're coming from, but you should at least respect that not everyone shares the opinion and I've stated why this is my opinion, so please, respect that.

@Soul

Okay, when did I ever say I didn't respect your opinion? I was just talking about my own regarding the stud market? If you think the 'don't @ me' was an attack, I was just making a joke. I just dealt with a really triggering thing only a couple hours ago so I'm still not fully with it right now, so I'm sorry if it came off that way.

Maybe it affects how you view studs, but please don't assume it does for me. The price really doesn't change how I view a wolf if I really like how it looks, or something else about it. I also don't view more costly wolves as 'more special' than wolves with lower prices. I'll pick one that fits my needs, preferably at a better deal, and that's that. Just because a Tier II, 10 mark wolf is going for 10 SC doesn't mean everyone will flock to it - NIB concerns and the wolf not suiting the player's needs will make them look elsewhere. Allowing the market to freely fluctuate and have diversity doesn't automatically mean it'll crash. It's fluctuating anyway, you just can't see it since it's all hidden behind a 200 SC label.

The market itself should decide what costs what and settle in its own way. There doesn't really need to be a set price, no matter if it's lowered or not. The TC doesn't have set prices to sell things to players, so why does studding require it? If a player wants to sell their stud for cheap, why wouldn't they be allowed to do that? There's actually a list of cheap studs that could be used as data to show what people are selling their studs at, and the average is around 100-150 SC. Some are even at 50, and that's just fine. Because they should be allowed to do that without needing to jump through hoops.

Lowering it/adjusting it is better than nothing, but I'd prefer it gone altogether. Because again, we should be able to set the price to what we feel is right, not what the game demands of us.
