Scars anyone?

Scars anyone?

Hi, devs!

Today, I had this idea.

I will explain the idea here. In my explanation, I describe what my idea will change or add to the game.

I had this idea because I realized my idea will add something special to the game. I was thinking about how often open wounds are caused and while I was putzing around the Game Development forum I saw a post about setting up wolves to patrol and protect the borders of a pack's territory and it got me thinking, an interesting thing to add could be scars! As your wolf gets injured you have a set percentage to receive one of a handful of scars. Now I know that plenty of people will be upset at having their pretty wolf marred by a scar, so I was thinking that they could either be non-optional and people who don't like it have to deal, OR it could be another decoration! You gain a new decoration for one of your wolves and that allows players to opt-in or opt-out of having scars on their wolves!!

In order for my idea to get added to the game, I think the following will be required from the devs: artwork, coding, and I believe minimal writing, but I'm not an expert on these things!.

Thank you for considering my suggestion!

Edits:

  1. Have a toggle for auto-add
  2. Have scars be optional
  3. Have scars stay with the wolf that earned them and make it so you can't earn the same scar twice on a wolf
  4. Have a low percentage chance of earning scars

I think scars should work like they do in LD.

Your wolves have a random chance to gain a scar from hunting or patrolling or whatever they're doing, but it's a decor item that you can just take out anytime. There shouldn't be a feature that permanently and randomly alters your wolves looks.

Decor scar items sound cool!  With all these wounds my wolves are getting every day, I'd expect some scars, yeah, but having them optional would definitely be better.

Agreeing with Kahvinporo.

A scar decors system like in LD would be the best choice, so you'll be able to choose if you want to keep them, remove them and add them to another wolf or just sell them.

I love the idea of having my hard working hunters full of scars, or to be able to add one to a pup that had a random injury

I think a scar system like in LD would be great, BUT with the addition of some illnesses possibly giving scar decor as well. This decor would be the same as any other scar decor, in that it can be removed, but these scars would only drop when the wolf is healed from a certain illness, while the general scratch-like scars could be gotten from hunting, scouting, etc like in LD.

Support! As often as my wolves get banged up in hunts and scouts, I'd love some visible scars!

It could also lead to unique decor depending on what happened to them. My current party of hunters had a good streak of getting beaten up catching porcupines and I had already mused how they needed some quills left stuck to show this particular happing.

If it goes into inventory, sure, but no auto-equip.

I hate the scars in lioden.  I really wish we could turn off auto equipping there.  My primary hunters look like they've been through a blender by the end of a week.  It's especially bad on hunting mutants because the scars don't fit.  Wolves being fluffy would show scars far less.  If they want to add scar decor fine, but please don't force us to use it.

Hm, maybe an auto equip toggle? Because I actually love that I can see which lions earned the scars on LD and would love to see the same on WD, but it's understandable that not everyone would want that. I also would not like an equivalent to the torn fur scar, bleh

Also, scars fitting muties better would in general be nice.
