Support and no support button

Posted 2020-11-04 10:41:45

Yeah I would really like this because I don't want to spam support/don't support comments (a. Bc not allowed and b. I feel like that's a lot of clutter to go through) but I don't always have a lot to add.

No support. I agree with Coal, I feel like it would reduce constructive discussion. If it were implemented the results should definitely be invisible to normal users so that people won't be swayed by popular opinion or get a bias before they even read the details of the suggestion.

Seeing as how this is a feature on liodens suggestion board, I feel like this probably already planned? But support.

Definitely agree with Vampireette : 3
I'd LOVE buttons, so long as other users {aside from the one who Made the thread and mods} button choices weren't seen.

I also support, and also assume that since it's a Lioden feature (and just sensible) that's it's probably planned.

But, yeah, I mean, rather like this suggestion, I think it's a good idea, but in three pages all the extra constructive things I can think of to say have already been said - let alone some of the more active or controversial threads where there's twenty pages to even read before I can decide if I have anything new to add.

And it does seem really silly to just constantly be repeating the same arguments for and against within an echo chamber, and it's true they're not keen on one sentence 'yes' or 'no' posts.

And really, otherwise the poor mods have to go through every post and go yep, User12 is for it and Wolf84 hates the idea but oh no their argument has swayed User12 and now I have to cross a mark out, and this post by ForumReader just says 'yeah I gotta change my vote on this one' and what the heck even was their original vote?

I mean, probably they have something fancier than pen and paper, but, surely they're going to implement something along these lines for the headache factor if nothing else!

Personally though, I am okay with having the results public, because seeing overwhelming support for something I disagree with (or vice versa, of course) tends to prompt me to read more and think harder about something that seemed simple and obvious to me initially.

Plus, I think I'd be more inclined to vote on 'quiet' topics if I see that not many people have voted yet (or if I see that my own opinion is in the minority!) whereas if I think something is 'obviously going to happen ' (e.g. support buttons) I might not chime in with anything to say and then be surprised and disappointed when nothing happened, or the 'wrong' thing happened (e.g. what if we don't get support buttons?).

TLDR: Support :D

I made a few updates to the original suggestion, thank you, everyone, for your feedback! Please let me know what y'all think of the updates I made. :)

there's a chance that since it did exist on Lioden and doesn't here that they intentionally left it out in the hopes of not adding it— I think the suggestion boards on lioden were probably really difficult to monitor an ended up fostering a lot of animosity between players. that's not to say it would do the same here— from what i've seen, it seems like the community on wolvden seems far more friendly toward each other than the environment in the suggestion boards on lioden! for me, i don't necessarily support or not, simply because i see the benefits to both, but maybe i'll change my mind over time or as more points are made in this thread ^^ just thought i'd throw in that detail about the devs potentially leaving it out on purpose since i didn't think anyone brought that up yet

@Sneep

While it is a feature on lioden it wasnt from the start. I dont know how long it was till they added it but it was early on. I imagine in a few updates or when they release the other suggestion boards. Cant say for sure

@phantom yeah i know! im not opposed to it or anything, i was just saying its a possibility they didn't want it again since it seemed like on lioden the supports area often put a lot of pressure on the devs and mods! but im not against the button, i was just pointing out that they may not be already planning on implementing it ^^

I guess I didn’t read the rules well enough oops but I think this is a great idea I was thinking about this while I was reading through all these ideas
